What to do?

Ok so here is my current situation : DD is 5,5 months and sleeps with me in our bed. Naps in swing. False asleep either in swing or while nursing. Can't stand her crib. Tried putting her awake but sleepy - she either cries or starts playing for 20 min then cries. Tried putting her asleep , either wakes up right away or sleeps there for about 20 min and wakes up crying.
Eventually she'll outgrow her swing... Also when she sleeps she likes to be on her side and she can't do it in swing so she ends up in weird prob really uncomfortable positions.
I'm not doing CIO . There is no way I'll let her cry. Help me find a solution , please.

  • I'm sorry. Since you didn't exactly state your issue, I'm guessing you are looking for a solution for nap time. Why can't you use the bed she sleeps in at night with you? Yes you will need to be some safety changes (prevent crawling off ect).

We never had any baby furnature (swing, bouncer, ect). Our LO naps are being worn in a carrier or our bed are her nap locations.

I echo putting her down for nap in the bed where she sleeps at night with bed rails. As for the crib, ours was a total bust.

DD co slept until 14mo. Then because I couldnt function any longer with her deteriorating nighttime sleep (waking every 30-90min to nurse all.freaking.night), we transitioned her to a twin mattress on the floor in her room.

    Google Montessori Bed. Good luck!

  • Thank you. Honestly I just needed some support. My family and friends keep telling me to sleep train her but I just can't see her cry. And with crib is an instant cry.
Even now, she fell asleep in my arms , got handed to dad so I could shower, he puts her in swing- 15 min later she's histericly crying but as soon as we get in bed, she falls asleep.
She started few weeks ago with trying to nurse every 1/2 hours ( which was terrible) but I got mix of shooshing and hugging and it usually puts her back to sleep without nursing.
  • You know what's best for your family.  DD is 21 months and still sleeps with me.  Our house tends to be a little chilly in the winter and DD isn't getting the whole "sleeping under the covers" thing yet. I'll transition her to her new bed in the spring.  It works for us for the time being.
  • Do what is best for your family. Almost everyone will tell you to sleep train/cry it out but I never had any desire to. I like co-sleeping and having my kids with me, makes me feel secure, it is easier and allows us all to get more sleep. My dd napped in her swing or on my lap until she got bigger then we layed down together in a bed I made on the floor.
