Sweating while nursing toddler

So I tried searching for a similar question but was mostly unsuccessful. Does anyone else experience tingling under your arms / sweating during a letdown? The interesting thing is I don't think I noticed it before. Just maybe last couple of months and my baby is almost 18 months now. And while we are on this topic, is it common to still feel a letdown at this stage?

  • That's awesome you are still nursing! My LO is only 10 months, so we aren't as far into our journey as you guys are. I can definitely say that when I'm nursing him, I'm always sweating. I feel like I could chug gallons of water. I've felt like this since day 1 though.

Sorry I don't have any advice, just going through something similar! I've gotten use to it and just keep extra deodorant/ baby powder in my bag

  • No experience regarding sweating, but I felt a letdown while nursing until my supply started going due to pregnancy. DS1 was 20 months at that point.

  • I definitely still feel a letdown nursing my 19 month old.  I think that would be common because you are going longer between feedings (or at least I am).  I definitely notice it more the longer apart the nursings have been.  I've never felt the tingling under the arms though.  I would ask an LC about that because that seems off to me.  Sweating would seem reasonable due to body heat with LO so close, but the tingling is odd.

  • I don't have the sweating/tingling sensation you described, but I still do feel the letdown at times. My LO is 26 months.

  • Interesting...I'm not worried about it at all. I just thought that it would be interesting to find out if it was common. Logically it makes sense since the milk glands are modified sweat glands...letdown in one could trigger something in the other. Maybe I've always had it and never noticed for whatever reason. Thanks gals.
