We have a 1940s house and are in the middle of a major renovation. The kitchen and one bathroom are being totally redone, we did new wiring and plumbing in the whole house, and we are turning the huge master into two smaller bedrooms. We've been living with my sister but hopefully will be back in our house after Christmas! I can't wait!!
Thankfully, we don't have anything major that HAS to be done before LO arrives. We just bought this house in July and it was a rental for a while, so it has just needed some TLC. We have upgraded some of the appliances and added ceiling fans (the house only had one when we moved in) I plan on pulling all the gold doorknobs off and painting them a dark brown color, as well as the gold light fixure in the entry. I have replaced outside light fixtures as well.
I want to rip up the carpet and put down tile or hardwood floors - but we shall see if that actually happens before LO arrives.
I do still need to hang pictures. I have hung 2 things since we have moved in. The house is pretty bare.
Good luck to all you ladies who are actually tackling major renovations right now, I do not wish to be in your shoes.
We closed on our new house 5 days after finding out I was pregnant. We still aren't living there because we want to fix it up before moving in. DH is doing pretty much everything. So far he has redone all the plumbing, some of the electrical (still has more electrical to do), gutted the upstairs bathroom, and redid the front deck. Left to do: put more insulation in the attic, paint the entire house, put new floors in the kitchen, get a new counter top & back splash for the kitchen, re-finish all the wood floors (most of the house) and put new windows in the entire house. I'm just hoping that everything gets done before this LO comes.
We also put in new floors and backsplash in our kitchen, and new carpet in the nursery. None them really had to be done, but the old carpet in the nursery was pretty gross, so to me it was a must have.
@mbm1983 for school I used PowerPoint for my mood boards. And when I was working with a firm we used PowerPoint. Nothin fancy.
Hey I actually have that. LOL. Thanks!
These may be obvious, but I use Pinterest for this and also Houzz to find rooms I like or specific features. Pinterest can be a bit more do it yourself when your searching for stuff and of course you can have a spot to pin your own finds (I have while boards of just lights or cabinets) and Houzz is a bit more high end but great for overall look and feel ideas.

We've done most of our house over the past 3 years including full kitchen & bathroom remodels as well as a new roof. Hoping to put down new flooring in the den since we did hardwood in the rest of the house minus 2 bedrooms & the den.
I came home yesterday to furniture in my upstairs hallway, carpet on the front lawn, and DH priming the walls in the nursery. Looks like he's nesting already too! Super glad I didnt have to help pull up carpet in there!!

Our home is one that's been handed down - from DH's grandpa to his parents - and now us. It's exciting to know that 3 generations will have grown up here.
Bought our condo last summer, and always some Reno is happening. DH will start demo on the 2nd bath to its bare bones, and be replacing everything. This will become the baby bathroom:):)
@dana1047 beautiful home! @mrsjack53 that turned out great! I love seeing all these renos! I'll put up some pics this weekend when all the bathroom demo is done!
We have a 4 bedroom home but with baby coming we will be short a room . We just started talking to a contractor about turning our huge attic ( 32x15) with 12 ft ceilings into my 14 year olds dream bedroom . Adding 3 dormers and 2 huge windows on one side . I'm nervios about the noise and mess but excited about his teenage man cave hoping to start work first week in January

I always dreamed of having an attic bedroom or huge loft area as a teenager. That will be a HUGE room!!
He can have a bedroom area, a TV/sofa/chilling area, an area for homework etc....limitless!!
@dana1047 he's freaking out . Lol ... Trying to convince SO to put a pool table up there before the spiral stair case goes in . And he's picking out 60 inch flat screen TV . I told him SMH you need to cut 100 lawns to pay for that ! [-X
We bought in February and although it was functional it had all the builder's grade features from 1996, especially white ceramic tile. So we repainted, replaced the flooring, remodeled and reconfigured the kitchen and master bath and updated the guest bath.
Anyway, most of it is done, but my special (affordable) contractor who redid my townhouse is slow in finishing the details. So here we are 9 months later still in a construction zone.
In fairness, the longer he lingers the more gets put on his plate; like custom closet organizers and wallpapering baby's ceiling. But whatever, I really hope he'll be done by the time baby gets here.
@SuperFudge00 Although it's taking a long time, I'm sure it will be worth it in the end...especially if he is doing a great job and finishing all the little projects the way you want! Happy for you!
Well we had some plumbing issues that set us back a few days! It's not totally finished (dry wall and painting still need to happen) but it's IN AND I just got out of the most relaxing bath ever! Woot woot! DH rocks!
My house is the perfect example of fixer upper. New roof, new ceilings in the additions (because the old roof wasn't pitched over the additions they both had leaks) I told DH we could turn one of the additions into a home gym, but being pregnant changed that. We replaced the windows, repaired walls, repainted, and put in new flooring. We're going to make that addition our new bedroom and then our old room can be the baby's room. Also replaced the ceilings in the other addition (living room) but still need to paint and replace flooring. The we"ll get started on the rest of the house.
Don't worry about DH, he's getting most of my home office for his gym.
We live in an older home with small closets. Currently, I use the nursery room closet for my clothes. We just took down part of the wall in the bedroom and expanded our bedroom closet to 3x it's original capacity. We need to add the closet organization system, but I'm waiting for the 30% annual Elfa sale at the container store. Also, we just bought backsplash to finish off our kitchen reno. Hubby needs to start youtubing videos to see how to install backsplash. Lastly, we're re painting two rooms downstairs. Sooo much before April. I'm glad we're not alone in this!
@mrsjack53 it is the best Christmas present I've ever asked for/received! The flooring was done by the previous owners. They broke up stained glass and arranged it on the floors and then poured epoxy over it! It's definitely unique
