So I was laid off on Nov 11, and I start orientation on a job on Friday. It can be fulltime hours if I want- or per diem. I am waiting to hear back from a few more places, I had about 10 interviews- various jobs full-time/part-time. Which was amazing as a new grad I applied to 200 places and got 4 interviews, this time I think I applied to about 50 places and had 10. I also qualified for MassHealth, which even with a job because I am a sole supporter of a family to almost 3, I will get a reduction in health expenses... meaning I will pay a lot less then the $450 I was paying at my other job per month. I am still waiting back to hear from a few other jobs that I liked more (the one I started I can do per diem with these jobs) and I even had to turn a few down because they didn't work with my school schedule. I'm so much less panicked then I was a few weeks ago.
As for my roommate we finally sat down and talked. My concerns where mostly him not giving me much notice and screwing me over in the rent and utilities (he pays 1/3). I knew he was up for a promotion come January so I expected he'd probably find a place by April, but that at least gave me some time to work and get my savings back up- which him leaving next month did not. The second being how controlling this girl is, in a relatively short time of dating. He is staying until February 1. I doubt our friendship will really survive, but I'm not too broken up about it.
My childhood friend who just came home from deployment is going to move in for the Spring. I'm really relieved. The babies dad works for a company who just won a bid to redo a restaurant right next to my apartment. I update him on appointments- but he never responds. I feel a lot safer with someone here.
Re: Job and Roommate Update
And as far as your roommate goes, I am glad it is slowly resolving itself.
Everything will work out.
