Ob appointment

hello all, I am 8 weeks and have still not been booked or had any word bk for an ob appointment since singing paperwork at my doctors. It had been over two weeks now. Is this normal ?

Re: Ob appointment

  • Yes.... there are tons of posts asking the same thing on this first page even. Each doctor's practice is different.

  • I have so much trouble with them, in my 6th week I developed shingles they would even give me an appointment till 4 weeks later.
  • Geeze...I don't know anything about shingles, but I guess it must not affect the baby?
  • I don't know if it's normal or not, but can you try another doc if you're unhappy? This is my first pregnancy, and I felt bad because I see many ladies saying they don't get seen until further along - but I was NOT ok with waiting like that.

The first place I went was awful, they lied about the nature of the appt I actually went to (NOT an OB, ordered and u/s, u/s was not good), then I could not get through to anyone regarding scheduling or my less than stellar test results (which apparently should have been ordered later!). I waited 9 days for a scheduling call I was told I'd get "tomorrow". Every time I called with questions or to follow up on scheduling a future visit, I sat on hold until someone said I'd get a call back. Never once did I get a call back, so I found a new doc who has the patient load or internal resources to offer advice and scheduling very easily. It was definitely worth it, and I'm glad I made the switch!

Um it can affect the baby. That is why pregnant women should avoid being around people with shingles if at all possible.

^^ yes, it can affect the baby, but shingles is not transmitted between people. If you've never had chickenpox or the vaccine, there is a small chance you can contract chickenpox from an open shingles sore, but you can't spread shingles.
