1 cm dilated woohoo! anyone else?

At 37 weeks I was 1cm dilated, now at 38 I'm 2 cm.. At this rate I only have 8 weeks to go.

I've been at 3 cm for about three weeks now... Still no sign of baby coming.

Eh, last week I was 1 cm.. have a doctor appt. tomorrow so we will see if anything has changed. With my son, I was at 2 cm for weeks and then ended up induced so I'm not reading much into it. 

I am glad to be progressing somewhat though b/c  it gives me a smidgen of hope that I won't be induced. Time will tell though ladies and nothing else.

I spent weeks at 3 cm with both previous children and they were born 9 and 5 days past their EDDs. 1 cm means nothing.

My OB checked me at my last appt at 36 weeks cause of the holiday this week and next week he'll be away so he wanted to make sure I would be ok til he got back on Dec 6. Not actually due til 12/21 but he said he wants to strip my membranes Dec 8.... Anyways, cervix closed. Said nothing about effacement. I think if Im still closed when I see him on Dec 8 Ill decline the stripping but I'll talk to him first. My BP has been increasing at every visit so he's talking induction at 39 wks, so he thinks the stripping will help avoid induction.

He can't strip your membranes if your cervix is closed... So you won't have to decline.

From what I've read, dilation means very little. Effacement can mean a little more - if you are 60%+ by 37 weeks, it is pretty likely that you are going to be in labor by or on your due date. Dilation of a couple centimeters, not so much.

@drpayne‌ and @sarahlynne30‌. I'm the OP so maybe she was talking to me lol. And I also know it doesn't mean anything. Although I am having this baby in the next 2-3 weeks so it doesn't really matter and this thread has been pretty entertaining anyway!

Was 1 cm last week at 36 wks, 4 days, and baby boy is head down. Went again yesterday for 37 wks, 3 days - still 1 cm, and still head down. So no progressing beyond that yet. But I'm just waiting for when baby boy is ready to come.

He can't strip your membranes if your cervix is closed... So you won't have to decline.

Really?! I didn't know that! I've done so much reading about it and didn't see that anywhere but it totally makes sense! Thanks for letting me know.

I'm a half a centimeter dilated today. I know people say that doesn't mean much, but it was so exciting to hear for me! It means he's actually going to come out! :P It's like a little light at the end of the tunnel for me hehe. My doctor thinks he may come a week early, but I'm not sure what she's basing that on. She's sorta been saying that all along, so I'm wondering if there's other factors that make her think that. I'm not too concerned, but it is exciting!

Went in today and was still 2 cm dilated but I'm now 60% effaced. Hoping little miss will stay until at least December!

37 weeks and 5 days. Nothing going on down there! Cervix high and closed! But baby is coming Dec 5th via scheduled c section!

37w 1d & no progress down there; although I do have lots of contractions at night. I'm scheduled for a repeat c-section 12/12.

60% effaced with no dilation. Doctor said to me "oh wow, you have dropped!" I wasn't effaced at all last weeks appointment. I suppose that's quite a change in a week. Lol. As long as lo is fully cooked, I am okay with whatever happens!

Well 2 cm today but she is still high and no effacement, which is what I wanted to hear. I'm not due till the 18th. Just glad the body is cooperating... that is if I don't stall at 2 like last time . I'm really hoping to not be induced this time, so a little progress at a time makes me happy that at least something is going on.
