I lived in Alaska for high school and although I was out of state for college my family still lived there until after I graduated. I love any Alaskan names!
Denali (although I would use this for a child too) Nikiski (a town in AK, you could nn Kiski or Niki) Kiska Alyeska (pronounced aly-eska, big ski resort outside of anchorage) Kenai
Our boys are dead set in naming their future dog Balto (not really for a girl though). Miska and Nanook were the names of 2 sled dogs I knew while living in AK.
Right now we are thinking Maybe Kodiak NN Koda or Tikaani (tee-kan-ee) it is Inuit for friend or companion.
No don't have names to add, but wanted to say that Kodiak and Koda can be common dog names. We have a few at the vet clinic I work at in AR now, but the vet clinic I was working at in AZ had several. Just thought I'd put that out there in case that affects your decision.
Husband is really liking Sitka right now he says it is strong and has more authority behind it so idk maybe. =]
I've read before that it's not advised to name your dog names that sound like commands and can be easily confused by the dog.
Just my random knowledge for the day.
