I went through that with Ethan. It sucks but you'll get more relaxed with it over time. There are a few of us that have had GD, so if you have any questions, just ask.
Also, Dreamfields past. YWIA.
DH is on mids the rest of the week. Last nigh to save some time I had DS in the bathroom with me while I showered and then was going to put him in the tub when I was almost done. I had the curtain half open to keep an eye on him while he played with his toys. From outside the curtain I hear "Uh oh mama, I poopin!" I fling the curtain open and sure enough a smal turd is on the floor so I grabbed him and put him in the shower with me. Then I hear a "thud" and look down a huge ball of poop landed in the tub. It must have been between his cheeks when I lifted him in there. Of course my head was all lathered up with shampoo too.
I'm so freaking happy it's Friday. I work three days next week then I have 11 days off!
Why on the days I try to be productive and wake up early, my kids do too? Way to ruin my attempt to get things done.
I'm hosting a play date for the MOMS group I'm in this morning. I made fruit snacks. Holy hell, they're horrible. They in no way compare to the packaged things, like not even semi relatable. Now I'm baking oatmeal bites at 6:45am. I wowed everyone with spinach muffins last time, and I have this urge to not let them down. So dumb. I should just throw some pretzels in a bowl.
Also, FYI - don't ever vacuum up a large quantity of an intensely flavored spice/seasoning. DD dumped a full bottle of curry powder on the floor in early October. The smell lives in my vacuum now. We took it apart and fully cleaned it. Nope, didn't help. I now have to strategically use the machine with enough time before visitors arrive to allow the smell to dissipate. My house smells like Indian food every time I operate the thing.
About the vacuum.... what if you put down some baking soda and vacuum that up? Normally baking soda helps with odors? Just a random thought.
@shiggybop do you have a local butcher?? They never have a ton, but ILs always get theirs from the butcher. It goes without saying that it is definitely the best turkey I've ever had!
I started off my morning watching Jimmy Kimmel's Celebrities Read Mean Tweets. Great for a laugh!
I'm also eating a Panera Cinnamon Crunch Bagel that I don't need, because I have a full breakfast.
We have family pics tomorrow and Lily has a cold. Thankfully, we're doing them outside, so her runny nose will fit right in.
@mhanson18 Your post about big babies reminded me that at my obgyn appointment last week (just a regular check-up) she asked about my delivery with my daughter and how big she was. When I said, 8 lbs, 8 oz, she said, "Oh, and you didn't have GD?" I said, I didn't think 8 lbs., 8 oz was that big for a baby. She said, Well 7 is the average. Anyway, I was just surprised by that as no one has reacted that way before.

7 lbs was average when we were born in the '80s. I thought the average was now over 8 lbs? Unless she's excluding GD babies in her stats, they seem outdated to me.

Um, yeah, this is correct--I think it's a little under 8 lbs but still--birth weights have been going up (partially because many women were told in the 50s through 80s that they shouldn't gain much weight--and smoked). Hate to say it, but some obgyns (and docs in general) are scary in how out-of-date they are.
And FFS, high birth weight =/= GD. GD is correlated with higher birth weight, but just because you have a big baby doesn't mean something is "wrong." Perfectly normal pregnancies and births can result in 10 pound babies.
@watercolor5 and @hyaline Thank you for reassuring me! She seemed up to date otherwise, even "applauding" me for BFing for over 2 years, which is why I was surprised by her comment.

Just looked it up... it's more like 7.5 lbs as a mean, but boys are slightly higher than girls... Average birth weight rose more in the beginning of the 2000s, but has actually started to go down. @MRoxy0628 she's probably just trying to be on the more conservative/ extra cautious side, but I wouldn't let it scare you.
Most of the sites that came up when I was trying to figure out the average birth weight were British because the royal baby was 8 lbs 6 oz.

And I do want to add--I think good docs can be out of date on some details and still be good docs. There's a lot to keep up on. But...I also think that's why I care so much about being an informed patient and an active part of any care plan.
I was sitting at my desk, and my boss was hovering behind me to throw out a candy wrapper in the trash.
He then proceeded to peer into my purse (where I have a bunch of pill bottles, because I'm on a lot of meds right now) and says in front of 4 other people "What are you, on drugs?"
I am in a great/pissed mood. It changes from one moment to the next. Today is our last day with the horrible, awful CFO. Because of that, Monday, I have to move desks. I am losing my window and I am so mad.
I know, I know, not my house; I am a contractor; etc...I still enjoy the sunlight and now it is going away again. Boo.

Seriously, this day cannot end fast enough. She (CFO) has decided that I am in violation of the 'Chain of Command' because I did not ask for permission to attend a meeting with the Director. I have never in all my business life had to ask for permission to attend a meeting. She is being ridiculous.
I think I am going to have a bad reaction to lunch and leave early...

Last night:
Guy I went to HS with:
I usually bite my tongue when I speak with clients, especially when Im trying to earn their business and trust... But Ill be DAMNED if Ill sit on the phone with some damn immigrant and hear about how bad our hospitals and Dr's are and how if you get sick youll hop a plane and fly home. Do us Americans, proud Americans a favor and take a walk!
Some guy: 2 words, fuck 'em!
Guy I went to HS with: I can't lye, I about told her the same thing.
Me: Just throwing this out there, but hospital errors were just named the third leading cause of death in the US.
...radio silence. I was really hoping for a netbattle.
James' birthday party plates just got here. Apparently 5" is really small. It is the only size they come in, why do they even make 5" plates.
Use them for apps/dessert and get coordinating plain ones for the meal.
There is no meal so they were supposed to be for the snacks, but are too small for even that. I'm still putting them on the table because they match the theme and are super cute but they can only be used for the cupcakes and now I'm back to looking for plates. I'm just bleeding money for this very simple party. I bought dessert bars that have been shipped, from UK, and will not be here in time for the party so I rebought them, at a higher price from the only US distributor and fx they get here. Otherwise I will have an obnoxious amount of hippo bars to eat.

I mean we are not exactly leading in the education race either, not sure why they think others shouldn't question our healthcare system. Hell, I live here and don't trust it. And I'm a proud American.

Was the person pulling out "I'll fly 'home' for medical care" being a bit of a snot? Yeah, probably. And depending on the poster's field and the nature of the discussion, it could be a pretty offensive thing to say (like, um, if he were in the medical field...awk-ward). But kind of a weird direction to take the argument from the FB poster...like having criticisms makes you a shitty person or crappy citizen. That's just illogical.

So I just got put on the GD plan for this pregnancy. My A1C came back borderline, but seeing as Carter was huge at birth, they want to take precaution now.
I'm poking my fingers 4x a day now and I hate that I have to do this.
I've only made it this far. I had GD with Camden and it was honestly the best thing that could have happened. By that I mean that because I was forced to eat so healthy, I actually felt really great the rest of the pregnancy and afterwards I found it so easy to just keep with the plan. Pricking your finger that much isn't fun, I know, but good can come out of it!
And yes, Dreamfield pasta! I'm so thankful that @BeebopandBuddy told me about that!! My numbers were never high after eating it and I still use it now!!! It's so good!
FFFC- Anthony has been peeing in the yard all morning. Since I'm off today til next Tuesday, we're tackling potty training because I cannot alligator wrestle him during diaper changes where we both end up in tears anymore. I put on his potty watch that plays a song every 30 minutes to remind him to sit on the potty. Well it went off right after the dogs went out and he said, "I pee pee with dogs" and ran to the door. Sure enough he ran out and peed in the grass. I'm letting it happen because he's excited about peeing which is a turn around from earlier when he was asking for a diaper because he didn't want to pee in the potty. (That would require him to stop playing with his trains). I know I'll regret this decision soon enough, but right now the fact that he's not peeing on my floors is cause for a celebration!
