@hillbillywife you should look on Etsy for the purple sheets of your dreams! I loved and would have done purple if we had a girl too and was obsessed with the muted purple nursery bedding at Restoration Hardware (we'll be going with the blue from RH instead now with our little boy on the way).
@pinkdahLia44 I think a woodland creature theme sounds adorable! And really I decided to do a 'themed' playroom because there really isn't enough room in our nursery nook to do anything that's too fun. Plus, I think vintage hot air balloons are very cool, colorful and whimsical looking without necessarily looking 'childish' (which was important to us since the area is visible from our whole apartment, as opposed to tucked away somewhere). When you find the theme that feels right for you you'll know!

We are going to be moving into our new house just over a month before baby is born so I can't start anything yet! We are possibly team PINK but waiting for our A/S on the 5th to confirm! So far I know I want light gray walls and purples and teals. I bought a dresser already that is a distressed turquoise too and I am considering buying a white crib. I like pink but I didn't want to have the whole room in pink if it's a girl so that's why I went with purple and teal!
I'm obsessed with pink, purple and teal together! My DD turns one on the 3rd and her birthday party is all pink, purple and teal! She has a white crib and we did a light grey and pink chevron wall in her room. I love the white furniture!
On another note- I have NO CLUE what to do for our boy on the way. Up until now it's been pink EVERYTHING. Thinking navy and green but still not convinced. But I love so many of y'all's ideas!
I'm doing mostly white with light links and gold accents. The crib and dresser are white from pottery barn and should be here Thursday! The glider and ottoman is a light pink I bought off amazon that should also be here Thursday. I did one accent wall in gold dots, and plan to find an antique gold looking mirror and frames to put on the wall. I kind of have an animal theme going too, as I found a plush pink lion and giraffe I bought from RH, and then found a pink elephant with gold dots from etsy that will match my wall.
Ugh, i love and hate this thread. DH is being a butt bc i want to start planning... and he said the other day that we would deal with the nursery AFTER baby was born... i almost died.
The problem is that the room is JAM PACKED with misc items of being together 10 years in a 900sqft apartment. Literally, so much need to be pulled out and put into storage. And i would do it myself but there are some large items that i cannot move myself (like my bubble bobble arcade machine...). He's ao busy with the business that he hasn't given it much thought. I'm hoping that when we find out sex, he might be more excited and want to do stuff.
I'm kinda torn, bc we plan on looking into buying a house soon, that it's pointless to paint. But i really like a space theme or a Lilo and Stitch theme. Both are gender neutral that can be fitted with more masculine or feminine colors. But both sound cute and i want to plan and sew but i have no where to put anything!
We built a new house last year and painted one of the spare rooms grey, assuming that's the one we would use for the nursery when the time came. Well the time is here and being team green I'm glad we picked grey! The trim is all white so I think I'll stick to grey and white wih yellow accents. Is been trying to find things in these colors and everything seems to be in an elephant theme, so I may stick with that.... Still undecided!!!
@PinkDahLia44 I did the woodland theme and loved how it turned out. When I moved in with my now H, this room was his trophy room for his hunting dogs and was painted shamrock green. I cringed thinking about how I was going to get another color over it, likely with at least 4 coats of paint (men....). So I went along with the green and baby has a squirrel, racoon, owl and fawn with a few birds on the walls. We got a crib from my SIL and my parents gave me their old rocking chair and I covered it with a camoflauge recliner cover (modified to fit of course). I also decided to use an old dresser for clothes and a changing table. Got all of the painting done early while it was still nice enough to open the windows in our house. Considering the 20 degree temps we have had I am pretty thankful. I thought it was a nice theme for us being team green, although I shouldn't say us because H is using the next three weeks until our AS to convince me to let him find out...

We have painted (okay just finished late last night) the nursery, with the exception of a few ceiling touch ups, and I just need the H to go up because I refuse to climb up the 10 foot ladder on the top to get to them. I haven't picked a "theme" yet..
Could someone let me know (pm me, or tag me in this post since this thread is getting a lot of traffic), how much bedding is actually needed in the crib? So many bedding sets vary with the amount of items. What is typically used? Crib sheet, obviously. What else? Thanks in advance!
We've gotten started and now I'm ready for it to be done, ha. We're doing white furniture, dark(ish) gray walls, and dark pink/coral/gold accents. These 2 pictures are our "inspiration". I'm so excited!!

@Goldie000 tell me more about your gold dot accent wall. Was it difficult? Require any artistic ability?
@mbm1983 unfortunately not. Immediate family is out of state and between 90 minutes for 4 hours away. MIL won't be much help bc she won't be able to lift more than me. )
@OneLastRefrain , my DS is over a year old and he has literally never had anything in his crib except a sheet. We used the bumpers on the outside of the crib for decoration for a while, but those came down around 6 or 7isb months. Not worth the money. Please learn from my mistakes and only buy crib sheets.
We has decided on a vintage airplane theme before we knew the sex. Now we are team blue so I have started the planning. Colors will be tan and navy with possibly some red accents. I've ordered a 3ft wooden propeller and have some vintage airplane prints ready to go on etsy. I plan to put together wooden airplanes from michaels and spray paint them. I have also found a metal airplane wall art piece and will make a bunting banner displaying the name to be "pulled" by the plane.
I love seeing all of these nursery ideas! We are doing an orange-grey-white nursery. Lots of modern patterns but no theme aside from the colors. White furniture with 2 grey walls and two walls with huge orange and white alternating horizontal stripes. My wonderful mother is sewing all of our nursery set for us and she's nearly done already! I'm anxious to get the room set up but we're in the middle of some major home remodeling so the nursery has to wait. Below is nearly all of the fabrics we are using for the nursery. Still need a big rug though!
For all the ladies having girls but don't want pink....have you thought of coral? Coral & pale blue or gray is beautiful.
We are doing navy, coral and white for our little girl. White crib and changing table from Target. Then I want to paint an old dresser coral. Bedding from Carousel Designs. Love that you can create custom bedding on their website.

No artistic ability whatsoever. I have none. I ordered vinyl wall decals from Amazon, did a little math to figure out the spacing and put them up. I mapped it out on paper first, then used painters tape to see what it would look like on the wall before I started putting them on.
DH is currently working on refinishing a change table and armoire from when he was a baby. I am very much into home decor and excited to decorate our baby boy's nursery. The walls will be painted a light blue/green/grey tone. Our nursery furniture will be white and our accent colours are navy blue, grey, white, with a bit of yellow and mint green I am planning on making a DIY mobile for above his crib and a gallery of picture frames with sayings above the change table.
So I may or may not have power pointed the nursery "> PowerPoint has my heart. This is the basic plan for either girl or boy, we hopefully find out on the 26th! Definitely needs some tweaking if there's a little dude in my ute. It's mostly things I already have, preloved furniture, Etsy prints, and fabric for homemade curtains and sheets:) My DH insists a NE patriots print on the wall so that will happen too.
DH had a MASSIVE screen and tower (builds his own) total gamer nerd. Your idea is wonderful and sounds like it works for you! We would have to give up our eat in kitchen for his space or squeeze it into the master. I can't think of anything else. Unless it stays where it is while baby is in our room for a few months and then we move it over....sigh!!!
We find out next week! Boy or girl, there will be light gray walls and white furniture. For a boy DH really wants whales and I love cephalopods, so mint and navy with yellow accents (and all the gray and white). For a girl I'm thinking woodland creatures in mint & coral or peach with bright pink accents (and the gray and white). Can't wait to find out!!
@fabledmabel my friends tv is like that. Actually I think he's got a projector or something now. Anyway it's insane. He's a huge xbox player. And believe it or not he stayed up all the time playing. His oldest boy will be five this year and they've got twin boys that turned one in August. Don't put it past the crazy gamers to pull all nighters. I'm world of Warcraft person but hell I can't even stay up all night now. Let alone when baby comes. Lol
You know. You would think so. The living room at their place is the same. And holy crap is that tv loud. Those babies sleep through explosions and everything. I remember one night we were watching movies over there and it was a guy movie so explosions, baby slept fine. A bird made a noise and that's what woke him up. We also all did swing dancing and they took him as an infant to the dances. Loud music. Like really loud, can't talk to people loud, and he'd sleep.
I've always loved Dr. Seuss, so our theme is a modified Dr. Seuss theme. The color scheme is red and turquoise. I've been making the bedding. When we moved into our house last year, we painted the room we hoped to be the nursery a light grey. We plan to do bead board around the room. Our furniture is a grayish white color. We had my grandmother's old dresser refinished and paint matched to the crib, and will double as a changing table. I will add in small Dr. Seuss character accents, such as the sheets and wall art. This is some of the fabric I am using.
We have everything picked out already. DH is starting to finish the basement so I can have a closet, spare bedroom, and living space (guy's room). Then we can move the current furniture out of what will be the nursery.
I ordered the furniture (in white) crib, dresser that will double as a changing table, and a glider from Buy Buy Baby over Veteran's Day weekend. I've had the paint color (aegean teal) and the decorations (kittens and butterflies) picked out. I bought the cutest wall decals and we printed out a few pictures to frame and hang.
As for bedding, I want to do the Lambs and Ivy Tiffany set, with the mobile and lamp. I bought the butterfly from the set to put on the wall. DH thought the fisher price mobile was more practical. But I didn't like it. I still need to order a narrow bookcase for the room and then we should have pretty much everything for it. I'd like a different light fixture but I think that might be going a bit too crazy with things, and we don't have high enough ceilings for what i want.
Wow, you're so very on top of it and organized, I'm impressed!

We are sort of doing a woodland theme, but also just kind of vintage style. The walls are kind of light taupe and I'm painting birch trees in off white on the crib wall, with teal birds. The crib is dark cherry but it's the only furniture we have so far. I've been looking for a dresser to use as a change table for months now and still can't find something affordable (I've been looking on classifieds and I want to paint the body of it teal and stain the drawers to match the crib.) The other color we're looking at adding to the room is a rust orange (because I love foxes with the woodland theme.)
This was our plan before finding out the sex and now that we know it's a girl we probably won't change much/anything, but I'd like to add some gold accents and maybe a brownish/warm coral? I'll have to see if I can find something that looks good with the teal and orange.
I'm obsessed with the woodland fox theme! I've got to convince my husband to choose the orange/teal color combo, he wanted the woodland but then blue and red. Since the furniture will be white is a little too Nautical for me (and we're both Navy vets-ironic). Have you found a bedding set you love the most?
If it is a boy, he will inherit his brother's nursery. It is elephant theme with teal, grey and white. If it is a girl I'm in love with the navy, cream, coral and gold combo. We need to prepare DS's big boy room. I have found the perfect dog bedding at Land of Nod.

I love this! Do you know what you're having? I was thinking grey, white, and yellow but I saw the orange with aqua accents and I also loved it. Were team green and I thought it was firing for ether. Our walls are already grey
We are doing gender neutral because the baby will be sharing a room with step-brother regardless. Since we only have him every other weekend and he's only 1.5yr no point in getting a bigger house yet. I'm planning on yellows and greys and doing some "You are my sunshine" artwork. Then once we find out adding in pops of hot pink or teal. I'll be making the bedding and curtains etc so it'll be fun to start once we find out.
We are doing a pink and gold nursery for our little girl. My husband has been nesting since the day we found out I was pregnant, so we have a pretty good start on ours. Our walls are super pale blush with a gold polka dot statement. We got an off white Pottery Barn crib (floor model at an extra discount!), my husband made a bench with a gold polka dot cushion, a gold "poof" from Land of the Nod, and we have a giant plush giraffe because I have always wanted one. We have a few horse accessories (picture, lamp, Moses basket linen) because we own race horses, but we don't want a strong theme either. We are working on the dresser (hoping for another PB floor model) and glider, and thinking about prints/frames for the gallery wall.
I hope there is a thread to post pictures in March as well!

We don't find out the sex until Tuesday! I really love aqua and orange but equally loved hot pink and orange. I decided to do the bulk of the room in orange and grey and then adding in an accent color (aqua or pink) depending on the sex. Honestly, the aqua would still work for a girl too but I'm super in love with an orange and hot pink rug I found. I NEED to buy it if it's a girl
We have our ultrasound tomorrow. If we have a girl, we are doing aqua walls with navy and coral accents. I also want to put prints up of female characters from children's books like Pippi Long stocking, Ramona, ect. If we have a boy, we will do vintage planes with navy, red, and yellow accents.
I just wanted to happy report that DH actually spoke of clearing the 2nd bedroom once we found out sex! I'm just so freaking excited rn! We find out sex tomorrow!!!
