Most of the women on this thread routinely post about the importance of consulting with your doctor and NOT seeking advice from strangers on the internet.  

In order to get the responses that appeared on this thread there has to be signs that your doctor is totally off the rails.  Telling a patient they should try to trigger labor this week (with a procedure demonstrated to work within days or not work at all) to avoid being uncomfortable at Christmas is a major red flag.  If there are actually doctors practicing medicine that way, they should be mocked and driven out of business by ridicule-- much better than the alternative of malpractice suits!

Since you asked, if I were sufficiently obnoxious I could refer to myself as a doctor, as I do have a juris doctorate and I earned it from Columbia University Law School.  I also read several medical textbooks on reproductive endocrinology after being diagnosed with PCOS and I have spent way too many hours hanging out with Dr. Google.  

However, none of those things are necessary to be able to count the number of days between now and Christmas or understand why the OP's doctor's comments were pure quackery.
