membrane sweep?

I will be 38 weeks on Thursday, at my last 2 appointments my ob has pushed the thought of a membrane sweep. She said he will be full term and that if it were her, she would get it done. But I thought it was better for them to stay in as long as possible? I have had no problems in my pregnancy (this is my first)
I'm just not sure what to think of it.. she has even called to remind me that she would do it Thursday and every week till he comes.. I feel really pressured to do it but I also want what's best for my baby not just what she wants , any thoughts?

    I've never even heard of a membrane sweep. Guess I have some googling to do! Whatever it is I say if you don't feel comfortable doing it then tell your doc that. If you haven't had complications & there is no medical reason for it why do it? Let baby cook as long as possible.

    I did it with my first, but I was also almost 41 weeks. It wasn't the most pleasant but I had it done on a Thursday and went into labor Sunday night. I think 38 weeks is a wee bit early though. Hth!

    I had it done a few days before my induction (for high blood pressure) in hopes that it would get things moving.  I think I was almost 39 weeks.  It hurt like a bitch, gave me cramps for the rest of the day and didn't do anything to help with the induction.  

    Personally, I would not do it before my due date.

    @CarenHope5583‌ Don't do it. Terrible idea to purposely force a birth on a normal pregnancy. Fire your incompetent doctor for even suggesting this.

    Um, 6 weeks early seems like a really long time to be thinking about avoiding Christmas in discomfort.  There seems to be a lot of counting problems going on here, or a hole in the space-time continuum.

    Weird. I've had mine done towards the end because I've always been late with big babies. But it's super weird she's trying to force it.
