I have been reading to Lo a lot but want to read her a real book, not just these one or two liner books. The only oness I can think of from my childhood is Stuart little and charlottes web. anyone have any suggestions on good books to read to LO?
yes a real chapter book. I know she is way to young to understand to much, but I get tired of reading 3 -4 books just to get about 10 minutes of reading.
I like You are special by max lucado. It's not a chapter book but it's longer than the one liner per page board books and it's got a very nice moral of the story for when LO is older

Magic Tree House series was always enjoyed by my boys when they were beginning to read. I read to them and then as their skill increased they began reading them.
So I decided to get Black Beauty and King of the wind. Two of my favorite books as a child. Got them on my nook so I can read to her anywhere and not have to lug around a bunch of books.
You mean like a chapter book? Right now I'm reading my daughter the Little House on the Prairie books and the Boxcar Children books.
@babylimas - love that you are already reading your daughter Little House on the Prairie!! Loved those books. Don't remember when I started reading them myself, but now you made me think maybe I can read them to my daughter in a couple years. I'd love to reread them!
American girl books are always great. also, anything by shel silverstein (light in the attic, where the sidewalk ends) is great and rhymes, which LO would probably like.
Sorry to hijack, but is anyone else able to get through even a short book without LO trying to grab the book and eat it? I don't read to her as much as I want to because it just pisses her off when I won't let her have the book, or I grab it back from her.

My daughter is 4.5 and absolutely in love with them. They might be a bit tough for some kids but she is not easily scared. We just started On the Banks of Plum Creek last night and she is obsessed.

Yes!! Sometimes what helps us is giving her toys or books she can hold and chomp and then read/show her another book. (Sometimes she only looks up at the book for a second here and there.) Or sometimes when DH is home, one if us will hold her and one if us will read from a short distance away (out of her reach).
My LO doesn't try to eat the books that much, but she'll keep trying to turn the pages while I'm still trying to finish reading the page :-P It depends on her mood though. Lately I've been reading before her naps and before bed, and when she is drowsy she tends to try to grab less.

No she gets super pissed at me. I give her the book, grab anew one and repeat!!!! Ugh I read to her a ton when she couldn't understand why it because j read to her a ton when she was tiny tiny
