TTC After a Loss

~~TTCAL Newbie Check In 11/11/14~~

Re: ~~TTCAL Newbie Check In 11/11/14~~

  • Just checking in here because I'm relatively new to the board. I posted my story last week. I had my 6-week post-op appt. yesterday. The doctor said everything looks good and wants me to wait two more periods (I had my first post-D&C last week) to TTC again. I may just wait one more and then give it a go. Also, the doctor thought I was a freak for crying during the appt., but I hadn't been back to the office since they delivered the bad news and I had to walk past the sonogram room where I was told there was no heartbeat.
Hi, Welcome to the check in! I am so sorry for your loss. I understand the desire to ttc again so soon, but I strongly urge you to listen to your Dr's orders. There is not one person on this board who will tell you to go against them. You would be terribly sad if you were to suffer another loss and didn't wait the appropriate time. ((hugs)) I'm sorry your Dr didn't understand why you were upset! It's completely normal to be upset and have triggers. more hugs!

  • Hi, I'm new. I found out I miscarried last week. :-( Today, I have an appt for a blood draw to track my HcG levels down to 0. It didn't bug me until I woke up this morning - but I don't want to go now. Childish I know, but I don't want to be in the same office as a bunch of women happily waiting for their monthly ob appts. Plus I'll be seeing the same people who had to give the news last week. They're sweet ladies, but I just don't want to see them right now. It's not really "baking" bit my favorite dessert to make & eat are Oreo balls. Yummy! Edited: because I'm dummy sometimes. I forgot the QOTW.
I am so sorry for your loss. Welcome to the check in. I hope that you found the strength to go get your betas today. I cannot stress how important it is for you to have that done. I know tons of ladies who have gone to their OB's and had to deal with exactly what you would have had to today. Happy women, pregnant women even. I know it's hard, but you're strong and you can do it. ((HUGS))

  • Hi Everyone,

    *snip*

Hugs to everyone, and I LOVE Christmas music, but I need to wait or I will be totally sick of it by December.  I also #respectthebird! :-)

Things in my world are ok, I had a dream last night that I got AF, or was about to anyway, so maybe that's a good sign? Who knows :-)

FX your dream was a premonition! :)

@rslh10‌ thanks for the check-in! How are things going with you? No AF yet, I thought for sure she would be here by now bc FF thought I O'd on 10/28 (albeit with dotted CH). I would be 14 days post that today and temps going up (we're trending down yesterday and I thought I was close). No chance of pregnancy bc we've been using condoms. Anyone want to chart stalk and see if they have any ideas? Now I'm afraid I'm just stuck in another never ending anovulatory cycle. I was pumped about possibly burning the bench and now I feel like I'm back to square one. QOTW: my favorite holiday dessert to make is pumpkin spice brownies with homemade cream cheese frosting... Yum :)
I have everything crossed that the witch shows up for you very soon!! Im tapping my fingers over here, geesh! Get a move on, af! (but seriously, I hope you're not in an anovulatory cycle!)  ((hugs)) I shall be chart stalking soon!

  • Hi All - I'm Kelly, I am new here, just had a missed miscarriage in October.  Diagnosed by my Dr. as a blighted ovum.  I was only 7 weeks, and took the medication to speed things along, but nervous about what the future holds now.  It's odd how you just think all pregnancies go totally fine, not many women talk about it, which is why I am here.  Hoping to connect to some others who have been through this and have way more knowledge than I do.

I have been lurking around here for awhile and one thing I already learned was to chart, so I started tracking my temperature last week.  I have to wait until after my next period, according to my doctor, so hopefully that will come along shortly.

    Good to meet everyone!

Welcome to the check in. I am so sorry for your loss. Do you have a chart link so we can all stalk you appropriately :)

  • Hello, I'm new here.

I miscarried on August 28 (blighted ovum) at 9.5 weeks, and had a D&C that same day.  While we were waiting to confirm the miscarriage (my first sonogram at 7 weeks suggested blighted ovum, but my hormone levels were high, so I was told I likely miscalculated how far along I was and just come back in two weeks for a clearer sonogram), my sister-in-law announced she was pregnant and -- surprise -- had my exact same expected due date.  My husband and I never told our family we were pregnant because we were waiting for confirmation of a healthy pregnancy before making our big announcement, and so no one knows we were ever pregnant, let alone miscarried.  We're trying again now (we were benched for September, and no luck trying in October).

I've been lurking for a bit, and finally decided to come out of the woodwork.  It's nice to meet everyone.

I am so sorry for your loss. Welcome to the check in. It has to be so hard having your SIL have the same EDD as you. ((hugs)) Just know even though you didn't share your news with anyone, your angel is not forgotten.

  • Hi ladies and a big special hello to those who are new this week, I hope you're all doing ok. I still feel good, the phrase that keeps coming to mind is "at peace". I feel like I've been running on top gear, high stress, constantly striving for the next thing for a long time. The MC really stopped me in my tracks and was hard and horrible and bloody sad. But now I'm ok, I'm calm and at peace, and I'm doing whatever I can to stay here (lots of meditation and mindfulness practise). Still waiting on the beta results but my temps took a big leap up right after a patch of fertile CM, plus I'm pretty sure the bad cramps I had a couple of days ago were O pains. So now we are in the TWW. I love baking a big New York baked cheesecake, the recipe is always a winner. Oh and what else is up? Today is my 30th BIRTHDAY!! Woah! :D
Happy Birthday! :D I'm so happy you're at peace. That's not an easy thing to achieve, especially post loss.

@rslh10‌ - Thank you so much for this check in! How are you doing? I'm doing okay...today marks a week since my m/c was confirmed. I think I'm slowly healing emotionally as days pass, but I still find myself having ugly cry moments (apologies in redundancy for ladies in the June check in). I think that it's hit my H and mom harder than me. My mom lost her sister at the end of July, my dad passed away in early Aug and now she lost a "grandchild." MH & I have had some sexy time...and it was SO hard the first time. Being on this board has comforted me so much. Thank you ladies!!! QOTW: I LOVE H's dark chocolate pecan pie! My H bakes (we actually used to sell his pies at my office!!) so it's SO hard to keep my lbs in check around the holidays! He's also Southern so you know there's good eating around here! He also makes these dark chocolate red velvet cupcakes w/ homemade creamcheese icing that are to die for!!
I am so glad you are starting to heal a little bit. There is no time frame for feeling better. I'm so sorry about your mom and your H. I hope that you and H can comfort each other. Sexy time post loss can be weird...We've all been there! ((hugs)) that things keep looking up for you. Also, red velvet cupcakes make me drool. =P~

I guess I could update on myself seeing as a few of you asked :D

I am currently CD2. I go tomorrow for CD3 blood work, and have scheduled an HSG for next Wednesday the 20th. After that, we will have an appointment with my RE to talk about our treatment plan. Then, in early next year or maybe December (who knows!) we will try an IUI, at least that was the plan when I was there last. I am working to lose some weight while were NTNP! Down 10 lbs (11 if you count the 1 that was left over from post-loss weight gain! lol)

I am currently dealing with a lot of family issues. The past month-  month 1/2 have been super shitty so I really appreciate all the love from you guys! Thanks for being great and understanding when I don't have time to post individual check ins!

  • Thanks @rslh10 for the check in. I missed last week, was having a rough time. I hope you are doing well this week!

@reginaphilangee‌ ouch that sounds painful! And the bench to top it off is no fun...

@mrsjac1210 welcome to the checkin. I feel the same way and I'm now on week six of going to get my blood drawn and it feels like a kick in the gut every time seeing all the happy pregnant ladies...

@nikiswimr sorry AF hasn't showed yet... My hcg is still not zero so I understand the frustration but in a different way! Hope you got some running done this week.

    @annabananabom happy birthday!

@gloria1804 welcome to the check in. I can't imagine having someone in the family announce while I'm going through the mc silently. I'm so sorry.. Take care of yourself

As for me, my betas were still at 360 last week. Five weeks post misoprostol. I'm waiting for my results this week but by how slow it's going I don't think it will be below 100. I was dine bleeding a little over two weeks ago, but had minor sporting the last two days. I'm so ready for the misery to be over. Three people I know have now announced similar due dates to what mine should have been, and not one but three do workers have asked when we will have kids this week. All these things have piled on and I've definitely been having a tough time. Other than that, I'm trying to get back into my old running routines and eating healthier. So no desserts for me :)
  • Just saw your update @rslh10 and I hope all your blood work goes well. Thinking of you and hope November starts to get better in terms of your family stuff.

I'm sorry you get nervous at the Dr's! My H is the same way. His BP is always through the roof. I think that your feelings after sex are completely normal. A lot of us have had those feelings, and a lot of you guys are probably going to go through them here shortly. It's a huge deal to some, and to some it's not. Don't worry :) ((hugs))

  • Hi all! Thanks for the check in @rslh10‌ ! How are you doing? Have things settled down for you?

I'm on vacation in California this week and did not bring my laptop which means only mobile bumping this week, so I can't reply to everyone individually but I definitely read all your posts! Seems like a lit of new people joined the check in this week. Welcome!
AFM, yes, AF arrived on Sunday, the day we started our vacation. It was a bummer but I think I was mentally prepared for it because I just felt out this whole cycle. The good part is I've been able to really enjoy this vacation and not be too sad. Plus I can drink all the wine and eat all the sushi! Hopefully this cycle will be the one for us. But in the meantime I'm having an amazing vacation! We really want to move here now. Hugs to all of you ladies and wishing you all well this week.

Ever hopeful that one day my dreams will come true
  • Hi everyone, I'm new here. I had a miscarriage at the end of October. I saw my OB today and I'm benched until January (he wants me to wait 2 cycles). So I'm hoping the time will pass quickly and that my body will get back to normal quickly so that I can get back to TTC.

Fav holiday dessert is my Grandmother's French apple pie. And I'm always in charge of the pumpkin pies.

  • Not much new here.  Just in the 2ww.  Not hopeful this month because it's not medicated but we are doing 2 months without treatment.   Who knows, maybe it'll happen.

I did have a Vegas themed party tonight where we watched the Hangover and it was so much fun!  SO glad I have friends to hang out with that aren't baby crazy.
  • @mustlovedogs63‌ glad to see you back, sorry that you're still waiting on betas. Hopefully next one will be negative! That is quite the overload with other peoples pregnancies. Good for you for getting back to being healthy. I'm still working on that.

@rslh10‌ I'm also hoping we'll be able to do our IUI in December (come on body!). I hope it works out for you and December is your month!

@kyliehopeful props on getting back to the gym. I need to get my fitness level back up as well.

Welcome to the check in. I'm so sorry for your loss. FX that time goes by quickly for you. I, too, am waiting until the new year (by choice but I'm here to talk if the frustration gets to you!) just remember, you're giving your body time to heal. That's what is important.

  • @rslh10‌ Thank you. I'm trying to see the wait as a time to make sure my body is ready and that I'm emotionally ready as well.
