**BFP WARNING AFTER QOTW**

Welcome to TTC After Loss. I'm so sorry for your loss but am happy you have found us. ((hugs)) This board is full of brilliant and kind women who have experienced the hardship of losing that which is most precious, and I hope you find great comfort and support here in your journey!

For those of you so new that you don't know the routine, this is a check-in for newer members of the TTCAL Board. Please feel free to use this space to ask those "newbie" questions that feel intimidating to ask on the main board and I will try my best to get you an answer.

**Please don't feel that you have to provide individual feedback to all of the posters ahead of you. Many do and it's great, but it's most definitely not required to be a part of this check-in. I'd just hate to think people might feel intimidated and not post because of this. All posts and responses are welcomed!**

Please take the time to read the TTCAL blog to answer any questions you may have regarding our board etiquette, TTC, miscarriage & loss, and much more: https://ttcalblog.wordpress.com/ If you are a check-in regular and get a BFP, please PM me so that I can add it to the weekly check-in with a warning for other members. If I don't get a PM, I will not mention your BFP on the check-in.

Finally, if you haven't done so, please post your introduction on the main board including your story.

***If you do not see your name, it’s because you didn’t check in last week, just join in this week and I’ll add you!***

Re: ~~TTCAL Newbie Check In 11/11/14~~

  • Hey everyone! Being off the bench was great for the first cycle and we are definitely actively TTC. But bad news, in case you missed my post yesterday I fell and had to get stitches in my hand and abdomen so we are out this cycle. BOO! I'm really mad, even though I know its just one cycle, but we've been on the bench so long I never thought I'd see it again. Hah. In other news...how's everyone else??

Its ok! Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure I didn't make a separate post for it. It was a really embarrassing accident. The wind broke a vase on the porch--i reached to pick up the glass and cut my hand (needed stitches) and then when I saw the blood I passed out.....ONTO the vase and punctured my abdomen. Sigh. Of all the things...I'm ok now, just home relaxing :)

@rslh10‌ Thank you for the check in and how are you? I actually did really well yesterday. TBH I started listening to Christmas music and I think that has helped improve my emotional state. My husband must have noticed a difference because he keeps trying to get me to listen to it while he is home and he hates Christmas music! I did end up ordering a book from Amazon. I did a book instead of the kindle because none of my libraries around here have any good grief books. I plan to donate mine once I am done with it. I can already tell the holidays will be hard for me. Even more so since I really feel we are out this year. Husband is having a lot of stress with his job and well his stress leaks into the bedroom. I hope I am proved wrong but it's just how the cookie crumbles. QOTW: I always bake a pecan pie. I hate store bought pies, they always have a baking soda after taste to me.
I cannot tell you how happy I am to hear that you are feeling better. I remember the dark feelings I had, and I'm so glad you are finding things to help you. ((hugs))

  • Hi @rslh10!!

I'm okay.  I stopped bleeding on Thursday of last week, but started again Friday night into Sunday morning.  It's been approximately 48 hours that I haven't been bleeding, but like I told my husband, I think I'm just going to wear a pad from now until I get my period, whenever that might be.  I meet my new hematologist today, which I am very happy for.  For now, while I am benched, I decided to rejoin Weight Watchers.  I can try to lose a few pounds, or at least control the weight during the holidays.

Otherwise, one day at a time, right.  I think I was a lot better with being benched right after the mc than I am right now.  Then, I understood.  Now, I don't know what the hell my body is doing.  I think my husband is finally starting to realize though that if I am having a down day I don't need to be cheered up constantly, which is helping.  So for now, I am taking it day by day, and really looking forward to a new year.
While were NTNP I am working on losing weight too! It can really help to keep you motivated once those first few pounds fall off. I'm down 11 so far. I feel good about it. I hope that your body gets it's act together, and that you get some good answers from the hematologist today. Let us know how it goes.

  • @rlsh10 Thanks for the check-in I hope you are well!

@reginaphilangee I love love love your name!. So sorry about the fall and being benched for this cycle. Sounds painful.

AFM: I am doing well. I did not ask the doctor for a beta draw. She explained to me it was not necessary before I even brought it up. I get so nervous and suck at advocating for myself when it comes to doctors. I always sweat in the exam room - so gross!.

MH and I had sex last night for the first time since my D&C (So thankful to be done spotting/bleeding). But that brought up a lot of emotions that I was not ready for. The whole TTA until after AF visits really put a damper on things and it served as a reminder of everything we have gone through lately. It was just more proof that I have to think hard about TTC or NTNP after AF. I'm trying to figure out what will be best for me and my relationship with my hubs.

Anyway- I always feel so sappy when I post on here! Hope everyone else is coming along well and having a good week.

QOTW: My favorite dessert to make AND eat is quite simple. I buy Devils Food Cake mix and make cookies out of it. Then after they bake you just place and Ande's mint on each cooke and let it sit for a minute or two and then spread the mint out like frosting. Chocolate Mint cookies... Imagine them with Vanilla Ice cream!

@cavewmn I am so glad you are feeling better! I am firm anti-Chrismtas music before Thanksgiving, but in this case I would play it all day everyday if it helps you feel better :)

@PowerOfBacon I'm sorry for the emotional rollercoster of not knowing what the hell your body is doing. All the (((hugs))) Glad you and your H are communicating better and he is able to know how/when to comfort  you

ETA: I forgot the QOTW! I look forward to pumpkin pie---an oldie but a goodie as my mom would say

  • Hi ladies! I have been MIA for a few weeks, really just needed to take a break from bumping. Doctor wasn't making us wait a cycle, but we decided to take things slow and didn't force anything this past month. I started AF on Sunday and we decided to start trying again this cycle!

I love baking pretty much anything! Peanut butter blossoms, chocolate thins (which are like really thin brownies with nuts on top), and oreo truffles are some of my favorite to eat.
  • I've missed this check-in for a few weeks also.  Nothing much is going on with me.  I had a D&C last Monday (11/3) and now I'm just waiting for my follow-up on 11/18.  I'm having some random bleeding today, so I have no idea what that's about.  Really just hoping to burn the bench this month.

QOTW: I'll have to go with Pecan Pie.  Adding honey and/or chocolate chips makes it even better!

  • Thanks for the check-in.

Yes, AF arrived on Saturday. TMI, sorry: I was almost asking myself if I needed to be worried about bleeding too much at once. It was crazy this weekend.

I created my FF account and started a chart. I have three cycles to practice it before we try again.

    QOTW -

What is your favorite thing to bake for the holidays? If you don’t bake, what is your favorite desert for the Holidays?

I seem to try a different cake each year. I am not really talented. I just try and it tends to taste good. My favorite thing to bake is a fruit cake (blueberries mixed in yellow cake).

  • @reginaphilangee oh wow! I hope you're healed up soon!

I'm pretty sure I'll o today or tomorrow, and my major FFTuC on top of that is that we haven't DTD since we conceived (so... almost two months ago...
:-S ), but now that I'll be past O on this TTA cycle, maybe I'll feel "better" and be up for it.

QOTW: I love my recipe for pumpkin cheese cake, because it has a carmelized pecan and gingersnap crust and I hate normal pie crust.

  • Hey everyone I am going to jump in this week! I am new to the board and intro'd on Friday. I had my mc last month. The doctor told us we were okay to start trying again right away because I mc'd so early. We are currently TTC. This is my first month temping/charting and I must say that I am LOVING it - I feel like I have learned so much about my body and cycle.

Also, quick newbie question : I am learning all the acronyms still and I keep checking with the newbie post so I can keep learning them but I have no idea what "AFM" means. Someone want to fill me in?

QOTW: I love pecan pie ! Also, my FAVORITE is a family recipe Orange Juice Cake it seriously amazing.

Hey ladies and thanks as usual for posting @rslh10‌ can't do individual replies this week but I hope all is well with everyone. I'm doing well..I just stepped on the scale this weekend and it read 202...I bout died.never made it over the 200 line before (I'm only 5'4). .I lost weight after the Mc and I was 189.so somehow I've gained 13 lbs since August. Probably all the emotional eating. Food has been the homie here lately lol so hubby and I started our first workout yesterday. It's a good thing we are NTNP cause the way my muscle are aching...it would be impossible to HIO as frequently as we would need to if we were really trying..so yea I'm just gonna focus on getting this weight off! And yep we will put up our tree this weekend lol

Qotw: last year I made this caramel apple cheesecake that was to die for. That quickly became a fave for us.

  • Hey ladies!

    *pregnancy mentioned- not mine*

I'm on CD2 currently. AF is so cruel. I was trying not to get my hopes up this past cycle, but of course I did. I think I just need to get used to the fact that I am going to cry at least every month when either AF comes or during ovulation when we (mainly me) put pressure on ourselves to perform. This weekend was especially hard because my SIL (who is 23 weeks along) kept rubbing her belly and telling my niece to "kiss the 'baby' goodnight" while we were all watching football at my parents. In front of everyone-very loudly.  It really hurt. I have been working on getting over it and forgiving her, but those kinds of moments set me way back.

Anyways, I have also been listening to Christmas music because it does generally make me feel good inside. I love to sing, too.  I kind of forget for just a moment about life.  Hope you all are hanging in there so far this week!

QOTW: My family has always made Southern living's strawberry bread recipe as Christmas gifts. It is so good!
Married since Dec 2010. TTC since Feb of 2014.

  • @cavewmn, just sub honey for half of the Karo syrup.  You add the chocolate chips with the pecans.  It might be better to try them separately to see which one you prefer.  I've never done both before. :)

  • Just checking in here because I'm relatively new to the board. I posted my story last week. I had my 6-week post-op appt. yesterday. The doctor said everything looks good and wants me to wait two more periods (I had my first post-D&C last week) to TTC again. I may just wait one more and then give it a go. Also, the doctor thought I was a freak for crying during the appt., but I hadn't been back to the office since they delivered the bad news and I had to walk past the sonogram room where I was told there was no heartbeat.

  • @MellyMel15, I'm sorry your doctor acted that way.  Maybe its time to move on to someone who can be more compassionate.  Geez! :(

If your dr advised you to wait two cycles, then you should. It sucks to wait and be benched. Just imagine if something were to go wrong again. You do not want to be kicking yourself for ignoring his/her advice. There are already so many what if... that run through minds as is. Waiting a few cycles gives your body time to build lining, flush it out, and repeat before being ready for baby.

Sorry if this was worded in a way that offends or is wrong. The words are in my head from conversations with my mom and also my dr. Also sorry your dr thought you were a freak. Mine just handed me tissues and said it was ok to grieve, it is a loss.

  • @flyoffeve- Thanks. I'll consider your advice. I've just heard so many different things. For example, my sister-in-law miscarried when she was as far along as I was (about 8 years ago) and her doctor told her to just wait one cycle. She did and got pregnant with my nephew.

It's just so hard to wait <sigh>

Also, what is that gif with the blonde woman from? I'm just curious.

  • Hi Everyone,

    Welcome back @crazycupcake52!

Hugs to everyone, and I LOVE Christmas music, but I need to wait or I will be totally sick of it by December.  I also #respectthebird! :-)

Things in my world are ok, I had a dream last night that I got AF, or was about to anyway, so maybe that's a good sign? Who knows :-)

  • @rslh10‌ thanks for the check-in! How are things going with you?

No AF yet, I thought for sure she would be here by now bc FF thought I O'd on 10/28 (albeit with dotted CH). I would be 14 days post that today and temps going up (we're trending down yesterday and I thought I was close). No chance of pregnancy bc we've been using condoms.

Anyone want to chart stalk and see if they have any ideas?

Now I'm afraid I'm just stuck in another never ending anovulatory cycle. I was pumped about possibly burning the bench and now I feel like I'm back to square one.

QOTW: my favorite holiday dessert to make is pumpkin spice brownies with homemade cream cheese frosting... Yum :)

  • @mrsjac1210- I'm sorry for your loss. It sucks so bad. I'm lucky because my OB office doesn't do blood draws (I had to do mine at a separate place), so at least I didn't have to see pregnant women right after I received the bad news. It did suck yesterday when I had to go back for my post-op appt. yesterday, though.

  • Hi All - I'm Kelly, I am new here, just had a missed miscarriage in October.  Diagnosed by my Dr. as a blighted ovum.  I was only 7 weeks, and took the medication to speed things along, but nervous about what the future holds now.  It's odd how you just think all pregnancies go totally fine, not many women talk about it, which is why I am here.  Hoping to connect to some others who have been through this and have way more knowledge than I do.

I have been lurking around here for awhile and one thing I already learned was to chart, so I started tracking my temperature last week.  I have to wait until after my next period, according to my doctor, so hopefully that will come along shortly.

    Good to meet everyone!

    BabyFruit Ticker
  • Hello, I'm new here.

I miscarried on August 28 (blighted ovum) at 9.5 weeks, and had a D&C that same day.  While we were waiting to confirm the miscarriage (my first sonogram at 7 weeks suggested blighted ovum, but my hormone levels were high, so I was told I likely miscalculated how far along I was and just come back in two weeks for a clearer sonogram), my sister-in-law announced she was pregnant and -- surprise -- had my exact same expected due date.  My husband and I never told our family we were pregnant because we were waiting for confirmation of a healthy pregnancy before making our big announcement, and so no one knows we were ever pregnant, let alone miscarried.  We're trying again now (we were benched for September, and no luck trying in October).

I've been lurking for a bit, and finally decided to come out of the woodwork.  It's nice to meet everyone.

  • Happy Birthday @Annabananabom

I'm sorry you get nervous at the Dr's! My H is the same way. His BP is always through the roof. I think that your feelings after sex are completely normal. A lot of us have had those feelings, and a lot of you guys are probably going to go through them here shortly. It's a huge deal to some, and to some it's not. Don't worry :) ((hugs))

Yay for AF! So happy to hear she came. It's okay that you needed a bump break, and you are more than welcome to come back and check in :) I hope to hear good news about this cycle soon!

I've missed this check-in for a few weeks also.

FX you get great news at your follow up appt! We will have the bench burning gifs ready and waiting ;)

  • Hi there!! Yep, I've got DH on board with trying to get my dr to run our tests in Dec. I'm hoping the timing works out for a HSG though. Since I'm in my 2ww, cd 5-10 (which is when I think or is generally done) is while we are half way across the country visiting my family. Seriously can I catch a break with my timing?! FX it works out! I'm eager to just get some answers!!
Ugh, FX that somehow it all works out in your best interest! I am having an HSG on the 20th! I will have everything crossed that you guys can get what you need done this year before the new insurance takes place!

    Thanks for the check-in.

Ugh, the first few cycles for me after my loss were weird. I remember the first one was normal, actually kind of light. The second one however was weird and I bled like crazy for longer than normal. I am however still having super light AF's....I won't complain ;) Give us a link to your chart! You know we all want to stalk you :D

@reginaphilangee oh wow!

Don't feel bad about not DTD in a while. It takes longer for everyone to feel up to it. Your body and your mind went through a tragic thing, and honestly, there is no time frame for DTD again. Whenever you feel ready is the right time! ((hugs))

Welcome to the check in! I am so sorry for your loss. AFM is "as for me", however I'm sure someone has already answered you :) Charting has made a huge difference in the way I see my body. I'm so happy I decided to do it. Fx for you this cycle.

  • Hey ladies and thanks as usual for posting @rslh10‌ can't do individual replies this week but I hope all is well with everyone. And yep we will put up our tree this weekend lol Qotw: last year I made this caramel apple cheesecake that was to die for. That quickly became a fave for us.

=)) I can't even begin to tell you how hard I laughed at this. I love it! I was the same way after my loss. I gained 12 lbs. It was awful. I am glad to say that those 12 lbs are gone, and I'm down an additional 10 after that.

    Hey ladies!

Oh Lady, I am so so sorry about your SIL. How insensitive of her. I would have been so angry, and would have ugly cried. Also, I feel your pain about crying during every cycle. I did it for every cycle we tried. You really want to believe that you won't get your hopes up, but you do. No matter what. ((hugs))
