  • This brought to you by three people on FB calling it tubby. It bothers me. Why not just say bath? Do you call dinner "eatie" or "chairy"? You call going in the car "drivey"? It just bothers me.

Well i will say that I call hugs and kisses "huggy" and "kissy" to DS. But that's not weird, only tubby is...

I'm not sure you could handle the word shenanigans that go on in this house
    You might be right.

I've got no problem with nonsense words. I just don't understand not calling something what it is.

Also if I were posting to social media I would use my big people words. Our family's weird language is just for us.
There's probably some truth in this. I'm sure we say things that other families would consider weird. But when I'm on TB or FB or whatever -- I use my big girl words so the whole world knows what I'm talking about. And also so they don't think I'm a moron.

You guise don't think I'm a moron, right? (Possible new poll?)

  • My cousins nickname was Tubby, so I can't call bath time tubby...just bath time! The only baby words we use, so far are binky and mine. A mine is a security blanket, when Finding Nemo came out my nieces we're learning to talk and when the birds yell 'mine, mine' my dad grabbed their blankets and yelled mine, a lot. So they thought that's what it was called, and she has 4 kids, it stuck. Now M has a mine.

  • A friend of mine who lives in Boston (and is from Oregon originally) uses that word for a bath, and that's the only place I've ever heard it.

I knew I had the perfect delivery nurse when she told me, "Just holler if you want a snacky snack"

Tubby = insulting word for an overweight person's appearance, as in "That dude is soooo tubby".

  • We call it tubby. I'm also Boston-born, so maybe it is regional?

You take a tubby in the tub. Nothing crazy about that.

We grew up calling it a tub-bath. Taking a bath meant going to the steam (dry heat like a sauna but it's bathed in) so a tub-bath was washing in the tub!

  • @golfergirl08‌ if she lived in the bush she might!

  • @golfergirl08 I also grew up in Alaska, but in the city. We called it a bath. We only had a bathtub or shower, no other bathing options.

  • We call it a tubby.  Like, "let's go take a tubby!".  It never occurred to me that it was weird, haha!
