***Just a quick note to all of you. I've noticed that some of you are having trouble tagging users in your replies. In order to tag someone properly (them to get a notification that you mentioned them) their entire SN and the @ symbol need to be blue. If you copy and paste their user name after @, you need to paste it as plain text. Good luck! ***

Welcome to TTC After a Loss. I'm so sorry for your loss but am happy you have found us. ((Hugs)) This board is full of brilliant and kind women who have experienced the hardship of losing that which is most precious, and I hope you find great comfort and support here in your journey!

For those of you so new that you don't know the routine, this is a check-in for newer members of the TTCAL Board. Please feel free to use this space to ask those "newbie" questions that feel intimidating to ask on the main board and I will try my best to get you an answer.

**Please don't feel that you have to provide individual feedback to all of the posters ahead of you. Many do and it's great, but it's most definitely not required to be a part of this check-in. I'd just hate to think people might feel intimidated and not post because of this. All posts and responses are welcomed!**

Please take the time to read the TTCAL blog to answer any questions you may have regarding our board etiquette, TTC, miscarriage & loss, and much more: https://ttcalblog.wordpress.com/ If you are a check-in regular and get a BFP, please PM rslh10 so that I can add it to the weekly check-in with a warning for other members. If I don't get a PM, I will not mention your BFP on the check-in.

Finally, if you haven't done so, please post your introduction on the main board including your story.

***If you do not see your name, it’s because you didn’t check in last week, just join in this week and I’ll add you!***

Weekly Update:  How are you doing?  Post an update including any news, thoughts, or questions - let me know how things are going for you! If you don’t see your name, it’s only because you didn’t check in last week. Feel free to join in this week!

Individual Updates:

@negritosmami-- I am so sorry you are feeling so defeated by ttc. I can absolutely relate to the feelings. I hope that a ntnp break will allow you to heal emotionally and make things easier for you when you begin your full on ttc journey again! You are sticking around the check in though, right? :) ((hugs))

@LDubHawksFan--Any progress with setting up an RE appt? How are you feeling this week? Also, I really recommend not starting treatment with your OB. I did, and I regret it. I should have just started with the RE like everyone here told me to, and then who knows where I would be on my journey as of now. RE's are trained for infertility, OB's just pump you full of Clomid without proper testing. (Not all, but most that I've read about on here! It's terrifying. Mine sure as hell did....)

@Cheetara2--How was the mini vacation? Did you get a confirmation on O?

@Pickles4Prez--How are you feeling this week? Anything new?

@mkfish31- CH's on the 28th, How are you feeling about this cycle?

@ctk181--How's the tww going? Any crazies yet? ;)

@26summer--Did you end up O'ing? How are you feeling this week? You should try and add a siggy so we can see your history. Do you have a ff chart link you could add too?

@cavewmn--How are you feeling this week? Any sign of AF? Are you sleeping better?

@nikiswimr--Are you just tracking your BD on ff even though you're not cleared for TTC yet? How many cycles are you benched for (or will you find this out at your next RE appt?)

@Mcsarah1104--Have you set up your SA and testing appointments yet? We just had a SA last Wednesday.

@Flyoffeve--Any sign of AF?

@tashacn--How are you feeling this week? Anything new going on?

@mustlovedogs63--Anything new happening for you this week?

@kyliehopeful--I have my fx for you in the new year.

@monicababayov1 --What's new this week for you?

@smagglebit -- I'm glad you're going to be more active on the board! How many cycles are benched for? (forgive me for not remembering! So many people!)

@breaker0506--Did you have your exam yet? How did it go?

@ChanelA -- Did you ever get your hcg tested? What were the results?

@incir --How are you doing this week? How was the Halloween party?

@lycih --Any news on your hcg levels? Have you made any steps to contact your dr/re to see where you go from here? Side note- I love your truffling pig :)

@mrr5058 --Are you betas back to 0 yet? Also, do you have a link to your chart?

@bakerwoman1 --Did you get a chance to look into charting? I just started 3 cycles ago and I really love it. It gives you a great view of what your body is doing, which is very helpful while ttc obviously :)

QOTW:

I'm ALL for Christmas season starting now! I love decorating, family time, cutting down our own tree, buying gifts for everyone, wrapping and good food!

What are your feelings on stores having their Christmas decor out already? (Obviously, I'm Buddy the Elf in this meme...and I don't even care!)

Re: ~~TTCAL newbie check in 11/4/14~~

  • @rslh10 - Thanks for the check-in! How are you?

So many crazies already in the TWW. I have had to fight the urge to POAS the last three days. I of course have no symptoms or anything at this point (only 7 DPO) but we are going on vacation on Sunday and I just want to know before we leave because if I'm not KU then AF is scheduled to arrive while we are gone and I just want to be able to plan accordingly, I am trying to hold out to at least Friday (10 DPO) to test! I just don't feel that great about this month. We were not able to HIO as much as we wanted in my FW due to our stupid work schedules, so we will see.

QOTW - I love Christmas and all the fun stuff that comes with it, but I feel like the stores go earlier and earlier every year with putting out the Christmas stuff. Like the stores that had the Christmas stuff out before Halloween, that is just ridiculous. Also, I hate that some stores have started to be open ON Thanksgiving for Christmas shopping. Totally ruins the Black Friday tradition and ruins the holiday for their employees.

  • Morning all,
I actually don't have a siggy because a lot of people IRL know that this is my name on The Nest as well and no one knows about our loss or our IF troubles so I don't really want to announce it to everyone.  I haven't O'd yet but my temps have been much more consistent the last 5 days.  I have some EWCM today so I think I'm just about ready to O.  I'm feeling much better this week.
I don't know if I updated that I have an appointment with my RE on Dec. 12.  I'm considered a "new patient" even though I've been seeing him for monitoring since February but he wasn't my primary RE.  I'm feeling totally ready to get back on the treatment train here.  I've had 3 failed IUI's, a successful IVF cycle that ended in my missed m/c, so while I think we will do 1 or 2 more IUI cycles in the winter, by spring I want to do another round of IVF.
Sorry for the novel today :-)

QOTW:   I'm ok with Christmas stuff out now that Halloween is over.   HOwever, when some of them started having things out in September, it wasn't cool and I wasn't ready.

hello ladies...good to see you back posting this @rslh10 and thanks for the encouragement..

*child mentioned..not my own of course*

i feel so good about NTNP. Such a burden off of me. For now, im choosing to focus on my niece who will be here in approximately 2 months or less. Im hoping that she will help with my baby itch as i am going thru this process. and yep id like to stick around this check-in long as possible..i like it here :)

@ctk181 dont worry...after all, it only takes one time and one little sperm! :) FX for you and i hope you have a great trip either way!

@26summer glad you are feeling better this week :)

oh..and qotw. I think now is appropriate for christmas decor. Anything earlier than halloween is pushing it! I actually want to put my tree up asap because i like to get the most out of my effort. I dont want to have it up for only a month. I may put it up next weekend :) dont judge me lol

  • Good morning ladies!
I intro'ed over the weekend and wanted to thank you all for your welcoming! :) DH and I just got off the bench in September after over a year of being told to absolutely, definitely, no matter what, to not get pregnant. It has been such a change for us! I had two losses several years ago, but no recent pregnancies and we are both nervous to see how my health/medications are going to affect us trying to get KTFU.

QOTW: Christmas starting now? NOOOOOO haha. I'm not a grinch, I swear. I am, however, a firm believer in Christmas starting after Thanksgiving. Immediately after, actually. Usually that night we put up the tree and decorate the house the next morning. Also: no Christmas music until the Friday after Thanksgiving.

  • @26summer you have to log onto your knot account to change it i believe. i dont know the exact steps on how to do it but i do know its done thru your knot profile.

  • Good morning!
I have not had my final beta yet. I am supposed to go this week. I have been charting but my initial temps after the miscarriage were all over the place. I also work night shift so I have a lot of open circles and overall my chart is a disaster!!

    Here is a link

QOTW: I love everything Christmas. I would be okay with decorations and music year round. Actually I do listen to Christmas music year round!! I have to work this year too so I am a little bummed about that.

  • Hi @rslh10!  I think I forgot to check in last week.

So long story short, I'm warming the bench again.  Got my period on the 18th, got it again on the 30th.  So I talked to my doctor last night, and she wants me to just see the timing of these next couple of cycles, and do further testing if needed.  So at least until December, we are benched again.  Part of me is okay with this.  The other part of me is just really not.  I'm still processing stuff.

QOTW - I love Christmas.  I love all things Christmas.  My husband is telling me I cannot start decorating until after Thanksgiving, to which I say boo to that.  I probably started stalking new decorations sometime in mid October, because I'm allowed to add one new decoration both indoors and outdoors each year, and I want something perfect.

Aw Lady, I'm so sorry you're benched. I hope that you don't need any further testing, and that your body gets it's stuff together soon. I know what you mean about being kind of ok with not ttc for a few months, I get it. For me, at least, the stress of trying is gone which makes me in a better mood. ((Hugs)) Also, when you find those perfect decorations, I gotta see them! :)

I'm so glad you're feeling good about ntnp. It really takes the stress off, doesn't it? We were going to TTA until January, but we decided we would rather just nntp (mostly because we went a year without any luck, so why not?). I love that you have something to focus on! Also, I will not judge you what so ever for putting that tree up today if you want! I would if my husband wouldn't call me crazy!

Yes there is! If you go over to the knot side of the website, there should be a place in there that you can change your user name. I just googled and found this so maybe give it a try:

You can easily log in on theknot.com -- using your thebump.com info -- and under "My Account" there is an option right there to change your username. Not sure why "My Account" on the bump doesn't have the same option, but since all the sites are linked, you can just change your usename on theknot and it will automatically update on thebump (and thenest, etc.).

    Hope this works!

You have very strict christmas guidelines! I don't know about you....Just kidding :)
I read your intro this weekend, and I'm glad you're joining the check in. I think that when people get off the bench there are a bunch of emotions that come with it. Nervous, excited, scared, possibly some guilt. They are totally normal, and I have my FX for you guys! Looking forward to getting to know you.

ETA- Also, love the attempted murder pun. LOVE it.

Have you gotten the all clear to ttc again? I know my OB cleared me right away, which was not the correct thing to do in my opinion (and many others on here). There is a strict nothing in the Vag for 2 weeks rule after a loss. This is to prevent infection. I would say that if you haven't been 100% cleared for ttc, that you should get a good time frame for when you can try again. It's different for everyone, and you wouldn't want to go against the dr's orders, and run the risk of m/c again because your body isn't healed properly. What were your betas last time, and how long ago were they?

  • Ok ladies, thank you!   I'll now add a siggy.   I am 26summer but have changed my name to king26   Thanks!
  • @ctk181 FX, you can make it on waiting to test.

@PowerofBacon Sorry you are having mixed feelings on the bench. Hopefully, the time will give it some answers.

@king26 Siggy and name change, ahh personalization.

@negrotismami I am glad you are feeling relief/not stressed atm.

    @reginaphilangee Welcome to the check-in.

@mrr5058 Sorry you are in the limbo of watching betas drop. It sucks.

@rslh10 Thanks for the check-in. How are you?

AFM: Still waiting for AF. I know this is every week, but I really think it is coming in the next few days. I had my usual crying session on Saturday like I do when PMSing. It led to an entire cry about the mc and drinking that started at 1 p.m. I have been so angry the past few days and craving chocolate like I do when PMSing.

This past month has made me feel like an alcoholic. I polished off a big bottle of Bicardi Limon on Sunday (that I bought when I mc). Yesterday, I opened some Schnapps. It smelled to good- I smelled it when I opened it, then poured, then smelled it again, which led to more pouring, and finally closed it. There was not much room left for the Sprite. This is not good.

QOTW: I was definitely pissed on Sunday morning when I saw the Halloween section was replaced my Christmas stuff. It is way too early! I was just pissy...I really do like Christmas. I love the smells from the tree to the cinnamon brooms/candles. I love the songs and even the "fun" of getting family together. I just would prefer if it would stay after Thanksgiving, because I enjoy that as well, and to build up better along with the advent calendar (German chocolate a day calendar, yum). Sorry for length!

Hi ladies. Its been a week since I found out I was losing my baby....taking it hard, but better than I thought. DH is a rock..hes been excellent. Found out Sunday one of my close friends is pregnant......and that's how everyone found out I was...then wasn't. I am extremely happy for her since she has TTC issues..but..i did cry.

I love Christmas! However Thanksgiving is the only guaranteed time I see my side of the family. I have a niece (will be 9 months) and this will be her first Thanksgiving/Christmas so of course I have to go all out :) Im putting up a tree in the next couple of days but decorating it in fall colors (Neat Idea...at least I think so).

  • @rslh10 thank you for the ping!  and the reminder becuase I keep forgetting to set up my appointment.  I will have to check in later b/c I need to go do that right now!!!!
  • @LDubsHawksFan - Glad you have made a decision.  RE will hopefully be a productive step for you.  I think that you can use the IF coverage on your current insurance and then your new one as well.

    @rslh10 thanks for the check-in!

@mmmsly welcome again!  Sorry that you had a hard time hearing about your friend's pregnancy.

@negrotismami Glad that NTNP is working for you right now.  Not thinking about it quite as much can really make things better.

AFM: Nothing really new.  Halloween was fun and we had a good time at our neighborhood party.  Last night was two weeks from my miscarriage and that meant I was off pelvic rest.  Lets just say that condoms are not all that much fun for anyone.

QOTW: I don't mind after Halloween, but I'm more of a purist and would prefer after Thanksgiving.  I just think that Thanksgiving gets lost in the mix.

    AFM:
AF showed up late Tuesday. You couldn't pay me to leave the house for the first two days of it. I felt like I was a teenager again. The pain was horrible and I was changing my pad every 3 hours or every time I went to the bathroom. Today it is over, I am so grateful it is. It was a nightmare.

Sleep has been a bit better. I am hoping to get off the sleeping pill by the end of this prescription.

Monday are trigger days. I made the mistake of watching Death at Pemberley (cue ugly cry) and it just snowballed there. But I got half the kitchen cleaned (scrubbed and so on) and I plan to finish it today.

Sadly our hotel trip is canceled. My husbands work force is down by half and his back up isn't reliable. She is the one I TP a ton.....

If anyone knows any good grief books specifically for MCing or Ectopic that are not to religious please let me know. I could certainly use some help. I always feel like I am sinking on Mondays and it worried me yesterday how bad I was. I don't want to see a therapist because it is $135 each session and I can put that towards medical bills or a car.

    Sorry for the novel.

ETA: I started temping yesterday. Hopefully when I get use to it I will stop waking up earlier than my alarm!
I'm so sorry AF was awful this cycle! I don't know of any books specifically, but my Go to for finding good books is Amazon/ Good Reads. If you go to either of those sites, and search for those words i'm sure tons of books come up. You can read the reviews, they give you suggested books, and show you what other people searched for based on what you searched. I hope you find something good to help you through the hard days. I find when I'm having a really hard day, I tend to either a) spend the entire day on the bump, or b) I occupy myself with as much cleaning as possible. ((hugs))

  • Hey @rslh10‌ ! Thanks for the check in. Sorry, no individual responses now as I'm preparing for a meeting. I'm doing ok. I've decided to go with a RE, but I haven't found one yet. We just got the official change in my insurance carrier notification just last week, so now I can chose and set up an appt. I was actually thinking this morning about how insurances work and whether it would be to my advantage to try to schedule my HSG and maybe DH's SA before our insurance changes at the first if the year. Our current plan has a $2k max for IF. Would that kind of be a loophole to try to use that max from one insurance and still have the new insurance's IF lifetime max?? I an to XP on 3T about this later. QOTW: I don't like stores having Christmas decorations out already. Before Halloween?! At least wait until mid Nov!!
Hmm...I don't know if it would be a "loophole" necessarily, because you need those things done, and that is what your Insurance is for, right? I think if it was me, and I was in your situation, I would try to use the current insurance to cover those two things. If you have the insurance, why not use it? :) I don't know if there is anything wrong with that, but if there is, someone please let us know! lol.

I did get my betas back and my last draw was something like 3.2 so they're considering it a non-pregnant value and I don't have to get another.
But, my progesterone from the first draw the day I started spotting came back a measly 2.  Sooo...  All signs are pointing to low progesterone as an underlying issue with my recurring miscarriages.  And, actually, I was taking herbs from an eastern medicine Dr friend of mine when I became pregnant with my daughter, so now I'm thinking those may have played a much more integral role in sustaining that her pregnancy than I realized...

But, on the up side, at least they're going to be proactive and have be come in for draws every 48 hours from day one for the next BFP, and since my HCG dropped so much more quickly this time, they're only benching us for one cycle.

QOTW: I don't mind it, as long as it's after halloween.

Those things sound like AF is coming, so FX that she shows! I usually can tell because I want to eat EVERYTHING in my sight. I mean even stuff that I don't like. I just need to eat it all (usually anything with carbs)! Everyone processes their loss differently, and I think a few drinks won't hurt! (1 pm or 5pm, what's the difference! It's Saturday!) ((hugs))

Hi there. Welcome to the check in. I'm so sorry for your loss. I think crying at learning of your friends pregnancy is normal. It's ok to cry, be sad, or even feel guilt. I hope you stick around, and give/get support. This board is the best place that no one wants to be. ((hugs)) Also, I love your idea of a fall tree! How cute. My MIL has a small tree decorated for christmas in the living room (big tree in the other living room) and when christmas is over she decorates it in americana style for a few months. I love it :)

--quote-- Right, the current plan wasn't to start the big testing and medicated cycles until January, which now I know coincides with switching my insurance. My current carrier has a $2k lifetime max for infertility, and let's day did comparison, my new insurance come Jan will too. I'm just thinking that it might be a loophole in the sense that insurance A won't talk to insurance B to tell them about me using my IF coverage, and them I'll still have all $2k coverage with the new one in January. If That is the case, I think it would be wise for me to try to do the testing I'll need...just a month earlier. Does that make sense or so I just need more coffee!? ;)
I'm on board with the idea! :) I absolutely understand why you would want to do that, and like my husband always says "We pay out the ass for the damn stuff so why not use it!". haha, oh H. Such a way with words.

But looking fwd to the decorations, FOOD & music ;)

  • @Pickles4Prez - So funny you should ask that. I had the same thing happen to me this morning! I temped three times in a row and got three different numbers, each one just a little higher than the one before! I did it like back to back so I don't know how my body temp could change instantly like that. So unbelievably annoying. I ended up just going with the middle number but was so confused. I will be interested to see what other say about this. Maybe I need a new thermometer or something?

@rslh10 I call MH Buddy the Elf, and he calls me The Grinch. It's not that I don't love Christmas, I really do enjoy it. But I hate that stores just gloss over Thanksgiving. I also don't think it's necessary to celebrate Christmas for 2 months, but maybe that's just me... Every year MH tries to start up Christmas on November 1st. My rule is December 1st, but I told him this year he can start the day after Thanksgiving, that gives him a couple extra days  :))

On the tail end of the 2WW. At the hospital after my D&C, I swear my doc told us that we needed to wait 3 cycles, which seemed like forever, but I was willing to do it. But when I went in for my follow up, he said that there was no need to wait. I just needed to wait until my cycle normalized. I even asked him about the 3 cycle thing he'd said in the hospital, and he said it wasn't necessary. MH and I are still scared (especially since we don't have answers as to why the loss happened), so we've kind of started ttc - not that you can really do that, but we didn't really put a lot of effort into making it happen this cycle. This is my 2nd cycle AL.

This past week has been surprisingly hard for me, emotionally. My friend came over on my bday to bring me a treat, and brought her 3 sons, who I adore, with her. Seeing kids in my house was difficult. I'm a church going person, and on Sunday, I had to leave early. I couldn't take the cute little families and kid noises all around. Today at work I was at the sink in the bathroom when a pg coworker walked in. I don't really know her, so I didn't have to be friendly and talk to her. But just seeing her triggered me. She's due about a month after my EDD would have been. It's been almost 3 months since my loss, and I don't know if it's just that I'm coming up on the 3 month mark, or if it's the time of year that's getting to me. I've just felt so emotional for the past week.

  • @rslh10‌ thanks for the check-in. Yes, I've gone back to tracking everything just to get in the habit (and probably because I can be a bit OCD :). I was even using OPKs this TTA cycle but then figured I was probably throwing money down the toilet. What is actually surprising is that FF seems to think I've O'd which would be the first non-chemically induced O in a long time. I'm still skeptical (temps have been all over the place since MC) but go figure that would happen on a TTA cycle. I'm supposed to wait until my first post loss AF and then can try again. Discussing next medicated cycle on 11/21. If nothing else, hopefully this means I'm close to AF.

I'm mobile so will catch up with everyone else tonight.

QOTW: I also prefer after Thanksgiving. It just seems too early otherwise!

Thanks, I'm going to need many fingers and toes crossed for the new year ;)

I love Xmas, last year we spent 6 months in New York ( hubby had a work contract) and we came back home to Australia in November so we missed a ny Xmas, just seeing the stores and decorations though made me realise just how much more they celebrate it over there ( so jealous!)
We hold off putting the tree up until dec 2nd though as my bday is the 1st and my family always held off until I had my bday first

  • Hey @rslh10! Just chart stalked you! When are you thinking of testing? Hope everyone's Tuesday went well. I am in my TWW currently. My first cycle temping seemed to go pretty well. It does make a lot of sense! It is kinda neat to see how your body is doing it's job (or lack thereof.) I o'ed a few days later than I was expecting.  I think our timing was pretty good. I am not getting my hopes up though because we have had great timing the past 3-4 months and nada! Trying to hold out until thursday….i'm sure some cheapies will be sacrificed to cure the urge.

    QOTW

If you don't mind me asking....what herbs did you take from your doc friend? And YAY! for burning the bench soon!!

  • Morning ladies! On the run so can't give individual replies but you ladies are in my thoughts! Did another progesterone blood draw to see how the suppositories are affecting my levels. Weren't so good the first time so fx that it was a fluke! Doc suggested endometrial biopsy next month which means TTA but is comfortable with us continuing to try for a while. TTA makes me pretty emotional, so I don't know what we will decide. Quick question for you - ever test and get a really low number, immediately retest and get a much higher one? Woke up (was maybe mouth breathing in my sleep) and got 97.17. Gave that number the stink eye and immediately tested again with firmly tight lips and got 97.77. Is that cheating? My FF - https://fertilityfriend.com/home/506853/
You know, i'm going to page @greeneyes842 here. She really taught me a lot about temping, so I feel like she can give you a better answer.

As for TTA, I hope that you make the choice that is right for you and your H.

:) I don't know if there is anything wrong with that, but if there is, someone please let us know! lol.
Does that make sense or so I just need more coffee!? ;)
Just my two cents here but my insurance changed July 1.  I got all my IVF meds in June on one insurance even though I wasn't starting them until the end of July and then put my IVF on the second insurance so that I got more paid for.  I don't see anything wrong with that.  It's your insurance and you are paying for it, so use what you need

I'm so glad you are cleared to TTC again. So would you say that you're NTNP this cycle, or until further notice? I think that's a great way to ease back into things. After my loss, I was sort of pressured by my OB to start asap. (I have low AMH, though). I don't feel that I was mentally ready, so please take the time you need to heal and be ready. I'm sorry you are having a rough time lately. I know that for me, triggers come out of no where. ((hugs))

@rslh10‌ thanks for the check-in.
Haha! Ok! I was like looking at your chart like...hmmm....I hope she is not ttc when she is not cleared! I'm glad to hear you're just going through the charting motions :) I hope af does show her nasty face soon! Can't wait to hear about your appointment with the RE!
