Endometriosis Pain During Pregnancy/Birth

Hello ladies!  I have been battling pain from endometriosis for 14 years.  Most of my endo grows on the back of my uterus and on my uterosacral ligament (causing me daily shooting pains on the left side).  I also have cysts that rupture several times a year.  I am now pregnant for the 1st time (9 weeks or so, yea!).  I am curious if anyone with endo could tell me how their pregnancy went/is going?  Did you have increased pain with uterus expansion?  Is a pain medication free birth out of the question?  Please share your stories!  Thank you!

Re: Endometriosis Pain During Pregnancy/Birth

  • Hi! I have endometriosis and had an extensive lap shortly before I got pregnant with my daughter in 2011 that removed a lot of it (I was between stage 2 and stage 3). I still had more/weirder growing pains than normal as my belly expanded last time, whether from the endo itself or just scar tissue from the surgery. I also get occasional ovarian pain, just like when I am not pregnant, although that goes away by later pregnancy. As for the delivery, the pain level varies so much even among the general population that I think it would be impossible to say how much of it is endo-related, but I will tell you that I did manage to have a pain-med-free induction.
