I always do tiny sips of water or juice until I'm sure those can stay down. Then I slowly increase liquid intake and add in bland food, when introducing food I also follow BRAT.

I'd be careful with the applesauce. Too much applesauce can cause diarrhea. I second the pedialyte and bananas. Sorry your LO is sick!

This. But don't let him near carpet. Nate had red jello once while he had the stomach flu... it took professional cleaners to get the pink spot out of my carpet.
