Stretchmarks???

Just curious to how many of you are getting a lot of stretch marks??? How are you coping with it??? I have quite a few from prior pregnancies but way more than before this time around. And to top it off a scar from c-section delivery, 3 little scars from 2011 gallbladder removal and now 3 additional scars from my recent emergency appendix surgury when i was 27 weeks pregnant. I'm trying to stay positive and using a creme that has helped in the past but I feel like my stomach is just a big battle zone.

Re: Stretchmarks???

  • I'm afraid to answer because I know I'm jinxing myself.
I don't have any yet. My boobs have them from going through puberty, but that's about it. I've been religiously using cocoa butter everyday on my boobs and tummy since I found out I was pregnant (at 5 weeks). I know my family is prone to them and I was determined to do everything I could to help minimize their appearance.

  • I don't have any and I haven't done anything to prevent them. I think a lot of it is genetic.

  • A lot is genetic but somehow it feels so good to be proactive about it. I'm sure it could have little to no effect but it makes me feel pretty and pampered to have a nice belly cream to use. Also my skin feels less itchy and more silky when I use something. So, I made my own! Shea butter, cocoa butter, almond oil, coconut oil and beeswax. Almost equal parts of each. The almond oil has vitamin E naturally and added as well as a preservative plus vitamin E is nice on stretch marks.

I have a few on my boobs from when they grew one summer when I was like 14 lol. From pregnancy I have one right by my appendectomy scar. I got it at 10 weeks when I had lost 10lbs lol. But man that thing sure is growing, it's making me a little nervous!
It sounds like you have been through a lot. I'm sorry :(

I guess I've been "blessed" by my mom. Lol she has a lot of stretch marks and such from having 6 kids. Im hoping the fade with the cream and after baby.

  • I have 5 on the lower part of my belly turning purple.  I have very light skin so you can really see them.  I have been doing Cream since I found out I was pregnant also night and day but in the end it is what it is.  I am so thankful to have this baby in my belly that I don't mind a few reminders of this wonderful experience.  I was infertile for a long time so I am trying not to complain about any of the unpleasant stuff.
Live like there is no tomorrow..Love like you have never been hurt...
  • boobs, belly, hips. whatever. I've been using cocoa butter but like a PP, I have had them since puberty.

  • I have several on my lower belly, that started in my appendectomy scars. I'm using coconut oil to keep my belly hydrated, but I know there's not much I can do since they're genetic. However ::knock on wood:: they're not as bad as my mother's, which was my goal. Hers were just horrid. As thick as my finger, and they went all the way up to below her boobs, and even decades later they were still purple. I know I still have time, but the fact that I haven't gained 60+lbs like she did has to be helping.

  • I got a bunch last pregnancy. A few are growing and I may have one or two new ones.
I have many different creams, which I'm sure help, but do not prevent. Straight vitamin E works well, but can get expensive.
  • I have none yet.  I have a really small one on my left boob? It appeared awhile ago, probably when they started growing in the first trimester. But I have none on my stomach. And not doing anything to prevent.  My mom didn't have any, either.

No new ones yet...my first pregnancy, I didnt get any new ones at all until the very very end...and maybe a few after he was born too...it was minor luckily.  So I now have faded ones really really low where my leftover baby pooch is but was lucky not to get them all across my whole belly like my Mom did... I'll take it!

I also have some (still faded right now) on my sides/love handles...but I had those even before ever having babehs -- they just darkened a bit with the pregnancy

It's all genetics.. I'm not bothering with trying to "prevent' anything... I expect it'll be like the last time and I'll get some new ones popping up towards the end or afterwards again.  Meh

  • I have one little bitty one just above my belly button. I'm pretty much over it, I mean I'm having twins and as uncomfortable as I feel ill just be happy to have my babies in my arms and not in my belly. Im sure Ill get more my mom and sister both got them from pregnancy. I have old faded ones from growth spurts so what's a few more? :-) I am using tummy butter but it just makes my tight belly feel a little better.

  • I got all my stretch marks out of the way in middle/high school when I had a growth spurt. None with pregnancy.

  • Last pregnancy I didn't get stretch marks until the last week. Then every day more stretch marks would appear. As if I wasn't anxious enough at that point to deliver! I haven't had any new stretch marks yet, but I'm sure they are coming.

  • I don't have any so far for this pregnancy. I got 2 right next to my old belly button piercing(curse you 18year old self) in the last week of pregnancy with DS. They faded away pretty quickly. I use whipped shea butter once a day to help with itching and moisture.

  • I have a few faded strechmarks on my hips and boobs from when I went through puberty- they're barely noticeable. So far, I haven't had any from either pregnancy. I use body butter and/or coconut oil on my belly after I shower to moisturize and prevent itchiness.

  • I haven't gotten any yet and I never got them with DD. I haven't done anything to prevent them, I just make sure to moisturize so I don't get itchy. I think it's just one of those things you either get or you don't.  :(
  • I hit the lottery. Puberty stretch marks = thighs and hips. Pregnancy = tummy. Breastfeeding =boobs
    image
  • I've had them appear in the last week or so under my belly button. They're not bad now but judging by mother's, they'll get a lot worse!
  • I got some deep wide ones at the bottom of my stomach with DD#1. With DD#2, I got tons of thin little ones above my belly button (I think the placenta was there, plus she pushed out her bum there). I haven't gotten any new ones yet this pregnancy - but I am starting to get tight and itchy. I can only assume that my skin will crack somewhere new.
    DD#1 (6), DD#2 (4), DD#3 (0)
  • I had them from gaining thyroid weight before pregnant. None new seen so far, but I am starting to get itchy... so may show up. I am not too worried, fat and 42 means bikini season doesnt hold any allure for me anyway :-)
