An outdoor cat I feed wanted to be pet more and dug her nails into my thighs . So now I'm worried about my baby. The cat isn't anyone's cat just a stray the neighborhood feeds. Are my fears unreasonable? What should I do?
Seriously, you are way over reacting if you're thinking miscarriage or still born. As pp said, its a scratch, not a bite. Just clean it out. You'll be fine.
I was bitten by my cat at 9 weeks and lost my shit. I called the doctor on call and he asked if it was an indoor or outdoor cat. (Indoor helps) He told me to watch the bite for increasing redness because I would need an antibiotic if it got worse. It didn't fortunately, but even with a cat bite he was pretty calm. I think, depending on the cat, there could be risk of -germs- with a scratch, but it seems unlikely you'd contract toxoplasmosis this way. I was specifically concerned about this with the cat bite and asked the doctor and he said I was more at risk of that if I came in direct contact with cat feces or a litter box. I'm still paranoid about it, but I'd say call your doctor to touch bAse and watch for redness. And don't feed anymore stray cats- let someone else do it for you. I had one I was feeding and luckily he hasn't been around in a while but I let DH feed him if I see him.
I haven't seen the show. But I read stuff about someone who got toxoplasmosis and spent their whole pregnancy knowing her baby would die from a cat scratch. It was on an old forum in 2004.
Use simple sanitation. Wash it out, put on neosporin, watch for infection. I get scratched by cats every single day and I don't worry about it affecting the baby.
To all the snarky, sarcastic commenter, there's no reason to be rude because she's worried about the health of her baby. I know not every comment is supposed to come off as sarcastic but there are some who are being rude for the sake of being rude. You know who you are.

Ok you're right. Thanks for coming in here and telling us. I'm sure you've single handedly changed us all. Now could you address the other people and tell them not to ask stupid questions. 8->
Wow. Many of you are childish bullies. As an actual physician I can say she isn't overreacting and you are jerks for making her feel that way. Cat bites and even scratches can easily become serious and even life/limb threatening - I've seen it. You should clean the scratches, put antibiotic ointment on twice daily, and keep an eye on them. If things become red, oozy or really warm just go to your doctor or the ED for appropriate antibiotics (augmentin). You will likely be fine, but ding let these women make you feel stupid for being concerned.
