Cloth Diapering

Weather change

This may be a dumb question but do any of you change anything in your routine when the weather gets cold? Just curious since I'm so new to cloth.

Re: Weather change

  • We use an indoor laundry rack, but I'm also more likely to just throw them in the dryer (on low) in the Winter.

  • The only other advice I have heard of is if you live someplace where your cold water temp drops below 60degrees F you might have to up the wash temp or pre-dissolve the powdered detergent since it might not dissolve well if the water temo is too cold. (IDK if that is true....haven't tested it) Otherwise, I'm the same, only change for season is no longer hanging diapers to dry outside.

I think you are probably right ... the Whirlpool Duet I had in my last house had a feature to compensate for that, but I think I had to manually select it during the winter. Some newer models might just do it automatically.
  • Ok thanks everyone! I wasn't sure if anyone used a different type of cloth in winter or maybe added a different type of liner. So I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing!
