brown on belly button?

Does anyone else's LO have a belly button that looks like this? At first I thought maybe it was dirt or lint from her PJs but the skin around the edges of her belly button are a dark brown. The weird part is this is relatively new..... It didn't look like this before?

Dd has some like that but much lighter, doc just said its left over from her cord. Tried getting it off but some of it seems stuck and will eventually come off. But he said as long as it doesn't seem irritated then to just wash it during bath time and let it be.

Thanks ladies. It doesn't seem like something on the skin that I can wash off, but rather the skin itself is discolored. Maybe I will call the pedi to be sure it's OK.

We have that too. It seems like just discoloured skin. Doctor hasn't been concerned.

We have that too, seems like it's not a big deal according to the pedi. Should fade/go away.

Our pedi said it's pigment left over from the cord and will go away slowly on its own. DH's entire belly button is brown atm.

My belly button is like that, and it's never been an issue with me.  29 years later; no explanation, no problems.

DS has a little darkening just like that in the same spot... Non issue.

Not only does DS have this, but so do I still. No issues, just a discoloration.
