Late Term and Child Loss

Capture Your Grief - Day 6 {books} (siggy)

You guys are doing awesome. Thanks for participating. This has been harder for me than I thought, which is why I'm behind...but I plan to take some time tonight and catch up. Thanks for motivating me and for sharing with us.

Today's prompt and description, taken from the CarlyMarie website:

Day 6: BOOKS. So many of us turn to reading in the wake of the death of our children. We take solace in other people’s words, stories, journeys and wisdom. Have you read any books that have helped in this journey of healing after loss? They don’t have to be specifically about the death of a child, just anything that helped you. Share about how they helped you and what you loved about them. You can share books that help grieving children too. Please feel welcome to share links.

     The book that I read after Raynor's birth was They Were Still Born, the book has stories from bereaved parents and their journeys. It was good for me to know I was not alone. The best part of the book for me is the part that the author mentioned that although our children are not with us, they were "still" born to this world.

  • Capture Your Grief-Day Six: Books I have always turned to books as an escape mechanism and this period of grief has been no different. Since my ob told the social worker at the hospital that we had an older child she included a book and some information about signs children display as they grieve. The book she gave us was too old for Katie so with the help of Google we found this book. The three of us will never be done grieving Ben but we hope we will always be able to find resources like this one to help us find our way to a "new normal". #angelinstead #captureyourgrief #stillabigsister #gonebutnotforgotten

  • ive always been a bookworm, and after Jesse was born really buried myself in books to escape as well as feel less alone. Here are some of the things I read in the month after his death:

    Empty cradle broken heart
    An exact replica of a figment of my imagination
    Motherhoodwinked

    Plus a handful of zombie/end of the world/survival type books.

    ~~~Sig Warning~~~
    I have been behind with CYG. I posted about 6 last night to catch up. Here is what I shared for day 6.
    ‪#‎captureyourgrief‬ ‪#‎day6‬ ‪#‎books‬ This book is called Someone Came Before You and it is written with the purpose of sharing the story of your angel with children born after them. I bought this book very shortly after losing Izzie. Even though this book is designed for living children it felt like I bought it for her. Like a promise to her that she would always be remembered. Always be a part of our family.
