Newborns and large bottles

I decided to try Dr. Browns bottles and bought the 8 oz. size. They look so big to give to my 1 mos. old but I was hesitant to buy the 4 oz as I would only be able to use them for a limited time. Did you give your LO the larger size? I am guessing its all about the nipple not how large the bottle is.

Re: Newborns and large bottles

  • Following. My lo is almost 4 weeks and drinks more than 4 oz already.

  • My LO is 5 months old and we still use the 4oz size, but he is drinking breastmilk.  Both sizes come with a level 1 nipple
  • I use 8 oz size. I think 4 oz size are a waste of money.
  • I sometimes use 9oz tommee tippee with my 3 week old. As long as the nipples are the same, it doesn't matter what size the bottle is

  • I also use the 9 oz bottle and my LO is only two weeks. We have the smaller 5 oz bottle but if it's 3 am and they are all dirty we use the bigger size no problem. I think it depends on the nipple flow.

  • I use the 4 Oz Dr brown or medela 5 Oz, my baby is 2.5 months old and drinks 4 Oz bottles mainly but she takes BM. She only takes formula every once in a while. If she takes 4 and wants more i just top her off in the same bottle, i dpnt think i will buy the bigger ones
