Hello and Intro!

Hi everyone!  I've been hanging out for a little bit, but I figured I'd say hello with my first IUI a bust.  Long story short, TTC 20 months, lost 2 pregnancies.  4 mos of clomid, 1 month letrozole + IUI.  

I had some massive follicles at my last two mid-cycles, (32 and 34 mm respectively).  I'm looking into whether this can effect treatment outcome.  

We've been married 9 years, and have a 4 year old daughter. 

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

    Welcome and good luck!  32 and 34 sound quite large.  Were you using clomid, letrozole or injectables?  I know clomid and letrozole they tend to let follicles grow a little larger.  But, even on clomid they triggered me before 25.  Did you use a trigger or were they waiting for you to naturally ovulate?

    ~SAIF/PAIF/Everyone Welcome~ 

    Me= 37 and DH = 41 

    Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)

    IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN

    IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.

    IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132.  Lil is here!

    TTC#2:  Trigger + TI = BFN; Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN.

    IVF #4:  BCP + MDLF + Lovenox = 7R, 1F = Transferred 1 6-cell embryo on day 3 = BFN

    IVF #5:  MDLF + Lovenox = 4R, 1F = Transferred 1 10-cell compacting embryo on day 3 = BFN

    IVF #6:  (New RE):  Long Antagonist November 2014 (transferred two 8 cell grade 1 embryos and froze one blast) = BFN

    FET#1:  BFN

    I am very sorry for your losses.  32 and 34?  I just had a 26 mm cyst that was pretty uncomfortable so I can't imagine that felt good.  Welcome to the group.

    2/13 thru 2/14 - Year of charting, OPK and TI
    3/14 thru 7/14 - Clomid cycles, DH SA came back good
    8/14 - HSG and more blood work
    9/14 - Letrozole + trigger + IUI#1 = BFN
    10/14 - Letrozole + Bravelle + trigger + IUI#2 = BFP!! EDD 7/27/15

    IVF #1, Stimmed for 12 days, ER 8/22/14, 9 retrieved, 7M, 7F!!  Freeze all due to fluid in uterus.
    FET end of October 2014 cancelled due to fluid in uterus due to possible c-scar defect
    Surgery scheduled 12/12/14 to fix possible isthmocele
    3/26/15 transferred one 8 cell grade 4 embryo and one 6 cell grade 3 embryo = slow rising betas for 2+ weeks = ectopic MTX shot 4/29/15
    Repeat c-scar surgery June 2015
    2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
    MOVING TO ADOPTION!

    Me: 27 DH: 28
    Diagnosis: PCOS, irregular cycles, old lady eggs. DH is fine.
    Started TTC in January 2010. BFP December 25, 2011 between IF appts. 
    DD born August 31, 2012
    Began TTC again in Jan. 2013. 
    Four rounds of Clomid - BFN
    Fifth round of Clomid September/Oct - cancelled
    HSG scheduled for Oct. 30 - Tubes all clear
    December: Round one of Femara  - BFN
    Round two - ?

    Thank you, everyone!  

    I was on letrozole 5 mg cd 3-7.  My midcycle was on cd 13.  I surged naturally that morning, however the ewcm I did have was gone by cd 11.  Like my brain was late to the ovary party.  :/

    Best of luck moving forward.  Have you considered requesting a trigger shot to move up ovulation a little?  Those follicles are on the larger side and you said ovulation didn't coincide with ewcm, so maybe that would help.  Obviously, your doctor knows more than me.  Just wondering.

    I'm so sorry for you losses and difficulties.  I hope you find the combination that works for you.

    That is exactly what I was thinking.  There is a study linking follicle size, endometrial thickness, and pregnancy success.  With letrozole, anything over 30mm or so has a near 0% chance of pregnancy regardless of thickness of lining.  


    Thank you, and you as well.  I just hope he is receptive.  I know he's the expert, but we're completely oop on this and would prefer to optimize our chances.

    Baseline u/s today revealed a 22mm cyst. Boo. But had a good discussion about follicle size. He is pretty convinced that this oversized follicle--->cyst cycle I have going on is the cause of all of my nonsense. As long as this cyst isn't pumping out hormones, we will proceed with a day 10 u/s with a trigger when the follicle is normal sized. He said he has no idea why I would produce such massive follicles. :/
