Elf on the Self question

I know it's a little early to be thinking about Christmas right now. but I have a question do ya'll do Elf on the Shelf with your kids? If so does it seem to go over well? and also my son is 2 1/2 right now do you think I should start it this Christmas or wait till next year?

    I do, my boys love it. They talk about Pippin (their elf) starting when school starts, wishing for him to come visit.

    We started last year SS was 4. He loves it, asks about Christopher randomly throughout the year. We could've started this a year earlier and I think it would've been fine. 2.5 might be a little early

    Oh my!  We've had it since Christmas #1 (this one will be our 3rd).  We put it up and out of the way but visible.  Just keep in mind you can get them with different colors/genders/etc (didn't realize it till after purchase).  Are you kidding, Elf on a Shelf is awesome!  I started holding Santa bringing a bike over her head for about a month now ;-)  Whatever gets the milk down. . .
