DS and I were in a public restroom the other day. In the two seconds it took to put a toilet seat cover on, DS was looking in the feminine bin and pulled out a used tampon applicator.

I washed his hands 3x and called the pediatrician to make sure that he was okay, also gave him a nice lecture. He's never done something like that before. I think it was curiousity, but still...someone's used tampon applicator. Bleh!!!

Please tell me I'm not the only one whose child picked up/held something nasty.

Ugh. Words you do not want to hear at the playground: "Mama, I found some gum!!" 

Luckily it was only all over her hands. She didn't put it in her mouth. 

Although I have to say, my typical DD2 has done this as well. At the same playground, as a matter of fact. She found a cherry tomato left over from someone's lunch, thought it was a ball, and squeezed -- and it splattered all over her face and shirt. She was such a mess, and so upset, that we left immediately.

I am sure we went through this, I just don't remember most of it.

DS has gotten baby wipes with smears of poop from the diaper pail from his room and chewed on those.

DS did lick a shopping cart at Albertson's.

It was before DS was 3 we were getting in the car at a trail head.  He suddenly had to pee.  He was newly potty trained and their were no bathrooms to be found.  So I let him pee on a tree.  I didn't even notice he had something in his hand that he picked up from the ground.  When we got back to the car I realized it was the circle end part of a used condom.  It was so old the rest of it was no longer attached.  So my kid touched his penis after handling a used condom.  Thankfully the nurse at my pedi's office calmed me down and said there was little risk and to just thoroughly was his hands.  

I still gag when I think of that.

Kids are so gross!!  We were at a family members house for a mother's day party and I found DS dipping a crayon in the toilet and before I could get to him he took a big bite of the crayon.

No. You're not alone. When Christopher was about two we were out shopping and it took him half a second to bend down, pick up a discarded cigarette butt and put it in his mouth.
