H sprung his week-long travel plans on me Friday, almost as soon as I got back in town.

Meal planning is tough when he is gone because between the kids and I, we may finish 1 chicken breast. So I usually make a casserole and it lasts us the week.

The best part of him being away is I get to discipline without an echo

The worst is that I've got to do the chores he usually does.

We text some, but mostly we email

Do you plan meals differently than when he is home? Yes when he is home I make big meals so he has leftovers for lunch the next day. When he isn't here I do small meals because I'm not a fan of leftovers.

What is the best part of H being away? Everything stays cleaner longer and it's easier to get out of the house without him


What is the worst? No sex.... For months at a time

Bonus: how do you keep in touch while he is gone? He uses the magic jack app on his phone as well as we FaceTime

Yes, probably for 2-3 weeks.
Do you plan meals differently than when he is home?
I'm not actually in charge of meals even when DH is gone (FIL is), but we usually make sure to have something DH doesn't like.
What is the best part of H being away?
What is the worst?
Best- not feeling guilty for working in the evenings.
Worst- I have a lot more help than most, but it's still more overwhelming on weekends. And right now bedtime is harder for me to do because it involves lying on the floor or bending over the crib.

Bonus: how do you keep in touch while he is gone?
Texting, mostly. He's gotten a lot better about being in touch, but it used to be days or entire weeks without hearing from him.
