Oh, and praaaaise The Lord, the deck is almost done. I'd like to think this means we can spend weekends together.... But it will probably mean Mr. Type A DH will start working on the creepy basement.
Oh @collers4 - my heart sunk for you. I am so sorry. Dumb technology. I had something similar happen with my old phone and lost my list of dd's firsts, we should have but can't find any pics from her NICU stay, etc. Giant hugs. And alcohol/treat of choice.
@EagleWife He is really good with her and does have fun with her but it seems like he doesn't know how to keep her entertained and happy so then he is asking me if I'm done, if he can take over etc. Usually if I'm on a different floor of the house he finds a reason to come up or down with her. I would just like 5-10 minutes by myself once in awhile. Even when I'm in the bathroom, someone has to ask where I am or call for me. With him, he takes hour long baths, goes to the gym for an hour or two, watches shows by himself in the bedroom. I can't even run to the store without taking Ava with me. It's frustrating. Just because I'm a SAHM doesn't mean I don't get to have time by myself. Sorry for the vent.
@juliedave151 - vent away. Maybe you can offer some suggestions for him to do with her? Read x book or watch y movie together? Or take a walk? It's hard when the babies are going through these clinger stages, but distractions can help.
I agree with you and the others who have mentioned it - we shouldn't have to ask for time alone or for a break. Moms need down time too. Big hugs.
It is so annoying! I just kicked him out of the house to take James to the park. After about an hour of nagging .
Don't know about your so but mine also loses all ability to focus on what I'm saying when football is on. Counting down the days until late January....
@Lelo2006 we must live with the same man. My SO loses all ability to do anything but focus on the game, ugh. I plan to do the same thing to him when a show I want to see comes on next. See how he feels
@mrsgiantpenis you can blanch and freeze your potatoes! Unless you were going to build a potato fort or something, I don't see a family of three going through that amount of potatoes before they go bad.
@collers4 that sucks! I'm sorry that happened. DH installed Dropbox on our phones. It's an app that let's you save stuff to "the cloud" and I like it as a backup concept as well.
(Yes, I am a cloud computing professional. Yes, I called it "the cloud".)
Allison has been in quiete the mood today. Happy for two minutes then screaming because I set her toy on the wrong side of her then happy again. Sooo frustrating and it is definitely going to be an early bed time for everyone.
We attended a church concert this afternoon. DH and I were half tempted to drop Allison off in the nursery and sneak out the back and take a nap in the car. This weekend just wiped us out!
I am enjoying a Heineken Light and relaxing while the dishwasher runs and another load of laundry is in. I still need to prep both kids for tomorrow, but I believe a little evening break is in order before I get to work again.
And @somerandomchick I hope you're lurking around. @lancomechica called me out on some things after a fight with DH and it wasn't easy to hear, but it brought me some good perspective. I don't think she was trying to make you feel shitty today or calling you an awful anything; I think she was just making an observation and stating some facts.

I kind of wish I still did caffeine. I don't normally miss it, but about 20 minutes ago I hit a wall. I still have a lot to do even though I've gotten a ton done. Tomorrow is DS's snack day - that means remembering the snack in the a.m., his show and tell, having myself presentable and fed, and having all 3 kids fed/dressed, and the diaper bag/snack for LO. It also happens to be picture day at school and they are going to do a big sibling pic so both kids have to be picture ready and the permission form filled out when we get there. And we may have a play date after so water bottles and big snack - whew. I am still waiting on laundry and have to find matching socks and either wash and dry dd's shirt or steam it. I have to clean up the bathroom from bath time/today - it got messier than normal.
Oh and convince these two monkeys to go to sleep! |) |)
I am sorry @collers4 about your lost photos. I am excited for your yummy meal @fabk , and your maiden voyage of down dog in yoga pants @casey78. Sorry for all those dealing with sick babies, whether chronic or temporary. Hope the rashes calm down, the noses stop running, the allergies get outgrown, and the guts are gutsy.
I am feeling grateful tonight: glad my DH has chilled out about football to the extent that he doesn't even know often when his team is playing, thankful that having crappy naps meant that both boys were asleep by 8:30, relieved that the temps are to be in the 70s this week, so we can go without heat comfortably, and also happy that I made a double-batch of the gooey, buttery totally awful for you cookies for the playdate.
Tomorrow is a busy day: class, meeting, office hours, heading an event/open house, writing group meeting. I am not really ready and need to prep in the next 1.5 hours.
In baby-related news: Alden is officially a boob guy. He has always been a frequent nurser, but now he will unlatch, take a look at my boob, grin widely, reach out and try to touch the nipple, grin and giggle, and then latch and start nursing, then unlatch and give it a good look and maybe attempt to touch it again. I am willing myself to laugh.
