  • I don't know if this is a UO or a FFFC, but pregnancy has made me even more pro-choice.

I always hear women say how they were pro-choice until they got pregnant. I've always been pro-choice but known that abortion would never be for me.   Especially since things have gotten so rough this third trimester, I can understand how if I was not emotionally, physically, or financially prepared and did not want this child tremendously, being forced to stay pregnant would be horrible.  Add to that all of the arguments I already had regarding why it isn't necessarily in the best interest of the child to be born unwanted, and I just feel even more like my understanding of this situation has changed.  Now I'm not one of those people who thinks it's appropriate into 2nd tri or that it should ever be used in lieu of birth control. I also don't believe that health professionals should be forced to perform it.  However, more than ever, I think it should be legal.

But on the opposite note... I think pregnancy has made it even harder for me to set a line of when in pregnancy a baby is "alive" (not to be confused with when I think abortion should become illegal).  Before pregnancy, I firmly believed that a fetus was not alive until it could survive outside the mother's body on it's own body, but having felt the baby before viability and having seen her moving on ultrasound at 18 weeks changed that for me.

    ETA: clarification
    Me too on the bolded.

My thing for pro-lifers is always...you know, EVERYONE is pro-life. I don't think ANYONE wants to kill babies. So, I hate that, just because I'm pro-choice, people assume I'm a baby killer. And, I'm like you, it's not for me, but it would be for me in certain circumstances, I THINK. I just don't know, but knowing I have a choice is comforting.

So, basically, I agree with all of the above.

I never participate in UO but I feel the need too. I HATE Vera Bradley bags! They are ugly, and everybody has them. I don't usually pay attention to designer bags and this like this so it's pretty sad that I can point them out.

I agree. AND I don't like Petunia Pickle Bottom bags. Mostly the prints. I love a good print on a blouse, but IMO bags, diaper or otherwise, shouldn't be so loud. I really wanted a boxy backpack, but is a nice solid color too much to ask for?

I just recently discovered Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags (I actually bought one) and really like them. They do have solids! So...you are wrong :)

I had to go see for myself. Even the solid colored ones have an embossed pattern, which is enough to turn me off. I just could never commit to a pattern knowing the variety of patterns already in my wardrobe. I will amend my original wording to "I don't like them for me" since its not that I don't like the bags or even the patterns, they just won't jive with my style.

  • UO: Schools need to go back to teaching vocational ed.  The push for everyone to go to college is failing students and thereby failing society.  Not everyone needs or wants to go to college.  Certainly expressing that everyone should go to college *if they desire* is helpful, but I think it's doing schools and kids a great disservice to make the entire high school curriculum college preparatory in nature.  Then you end up with kids who either drop out of high school because they're truly not interested in anything they're learning, or ones who sort of follow along with the plan, go to college and take out student loans, and then realize that all along they wanted to do something else that didn't require a degree at all and then they have needless debt.

I teach career and technical education, business ed specifically. These programs exist in all the schools in my area and surrounding states. Students can take a variety of courses in business, family and consumer science, and industrial tech. They can also take chemistry and trig. Options, the best secondary schooling provides options.

  • This shit is about to get real!!!

I don't like any hostess products except chocolate covered donuts, but those could be any brand. I hate twinkies and ding dings and their nasty cupcakes. If I bought a hostess product it would go bad before I ate it (and we all know they don't expire for like 100 years). I literally can't understand why people like them.

    :-O
Whether you call them "ho ho" or "Swiss cake rolls" (hostess vs little Debbie), these are the best, yummiest, most beloved snacks EVER. They were fought over when I was little. I could eat a whole box!

  • Ho-hos, Swiss Cake Rolls and Yodels are NOT the same thing.

    Yodels are the best.
    What's the difference? :-B

  • @kfitzguerra‌ Taste test sounds fun. Three boxes of snack cakes to share? Let's do this!!

I don't know about being able to tell the difference. I just prefer the ones that come 2 in a pack instead of 1. ;)

The talk of Hostess snack cakes makes me super glad I bought a big ass combo box from Costco the other day: cupcakes and Twinkies.  @pnwlover12 take note of this for when you make your Costco trip.

  • The hospital is kind of great because you have people waiting on you: they bring you food, they help you with baby if needed, etc.  Going home is when shit gets real.  I'll miss seeing my daughter so much while I'm in the hospital, but I sort of wouldn't mind just being able to sleep a lot.  Sleeping and breastfeeding.  And lots of pillows.

  • I remembered my UO!

I actually like being in the hospital. I can't wait for the little nurse buzzer and adjustable bed. DH thinks I'm insane...

Nope! Get me outa there! I want to be home where I can snuggle my baby uninterrupted and in comfort. And where I can turn out all the lights. And where nobody pokes me...and I don't hear any beeping and whatnot.

    Dislike hospitals!!!
