@Slaps I'm not expecting a present (besides food) but I am getting MH a little present. He has to meet me at the hospital, so I'm making a goody basket for him with his favorite food, new slippers, etc. He has been wanting a Kindle, so I might get him one. He has been so supportive this whole pregnancy.
My FIL owns a small vineyard and boutique winery in Northern California, so I think it's only fitting that he send me a case of wine for presenting him with his first and (most likely) only grandson.
I'm not into all that paternalistic nonsense, but if it scores me a free case of wine I can do some sucking up.
clearly we need to start a wine and/or booze thread once we get close to December...I want to know what EVERYBODY is drinking
@RaeChay d14 drunks is on the Bingo card for a reason. We don't play games.
ETA: well games except bingo...and probably drinking games...
@amw0914 Mendocino County, a 20-acre vineyard on one of the mountains. He has mostly cabernet sauvingnon, with some acres of merlot, cabernet franc, and petit verdeau for blending. He's won several medals at various wine events, and he even had a write up in the Huffington Post from the SF Chronicle Wine Show a few years ago.
He's done a reserve in each of the granddaughter's names. Our niece is the merlot, DD1 is the cabernet franc, and DD2 is the cabernet sauvingnon. He said he'll be making another reserve for LO, most likely relabeling the one they're currently releasing as the Grand Reserve.
Seriously, need to discuss with FIL now and get a case on its way. And then I have to keep DH out of it.
@BayCamp HAHAHAHA He's a funny 75 year-old with a Buffalo accent who drives his tractor up and down the mountainside. I grew up a midwest farmer's daughter, and now my California FIL is a farmer too.
We bought my push gift last weekend on vacation. A 4 pack of beer from the Dogfishhead brewery tour we went on, but it was also a gift for enduring the torture of being there and not getting to enjoy the samples. No cars or diamonds.
I love the idea of getting hubby a basket of goodies for the hospital. Who really knows how long we will be there, so some snacks and other little goodies I'm sure would be well appreciated. I'll have to get started on that! And he can get started on shucking my oysters right after we get home. Lol
I am salivating just thinking of oysters. Raw with a smidge of lemon juice. Yes please!
