People on this site are down right rude, and total imbasals.. So she asked a question, why the hell not just answer her instead of being a bunch of bitches?! Or better yet, keep effing scrolling past! This is the worst app I've used for discussion boards, looking at how rude ppl answer questions when asked. I opened this thred because her topic interested me, and it's all ppl saying to do a search first and saying "another newbie".. What is wrong with you bitches?

Yay! We got ourselves a white knight....and a newbie (2009) white knight at that.

  • I love when people use that word, but it's even better when it's spelled wrong!

Relax people...the snark scared me for the first month or two, but when you're dealing with all the craziness that is pregnancy, it makes everything better!!
  • I didn't get a medal, but I did get to do a particularly satisfying told-you-so dance to everybody who said I couldn't do it ;)

Catty as it may be, I'm not ashamed to admit this is part of the reason I'm so intent on doing it natural (no hate to those that choose the epidural. I just really love doing the "I did it even though you said I couldn't" dance).

  • OP, the previous post linked above is about a month old.  It's not like it was 2 days ago.  I wouldn't have had the time to look for it either.

    Try the natural birth board.

Personally, having experienced a natural (water) birth and an epidural, I'm planning to go natural again.  It was just a better experience overall followed by a much easier recovery.  That said, I was transferred to the hospital with my first.  So just know that plans may need to change quickly, despite being prepared and having strong preferences.  Good luck.

  • I'm a little late to this, but just wanted to share. With my first, I was dead set on going natural. I ended up having to be medically induced, but still managed to go pain med-free. It was hell. Not going to lie, the most painful and intense (yet rewarding) thing I have ever done. I swear that if my labor lasted even five minutes longer, I wouldn't have been able to do it.

This time, I'm going into this with a more open mind. I'm hoping to avoid an induction, and thereby avoiding the artificially-fueled contractions (hoping that makes things a bit more tolerable). If I can handle it med-free, wonderful. If I can't, I'm not going to beat myself up if I end up getting a narcotic or even an epi. (Though I will admit the thought of an epi going bad scares the shiz out of me!)

  • I'm going natural (as in no pain medicine) for a different reason. I've had two epidurals and two vaginally deliveries, neither time my epidural worked at all, I felt everything. I also have intensely fast labors so I just say screw it might as well not get an epidural this time and it'll be over quick anyways. I do want to read up on some coping techniques though.

Oh wow I didn't know an epidural could fail to work!!! :O that's a little scary, especially since I planned to go that route. Oh dear.

I don't think it's common. With my daughter I went so fast I was already in transition most likely when I got my epidural, but yeah the contractions just kept getting worse. With my son I had about 10 minutes of relief, by the time the anesthesiologist was back in my room adjusting the dose I was already fully dilated and feeling like I was going to die. I scared him away and my son was born 6 minutes later.

@jayellekay‌ My first experience without an epidural was induced and the three after that were without induction and without an epidural. The induced contractions were sooooo much worse.
