Yes! I'm an avid reader and usually re-read books if I have nothing else to read. I also have my "go to books", if I need some inspiration. The Alchemist is one of my go to books. I've read it 6 times!
I rarely re-read books. But, I'm also cheap, so I don't own many--I just borrow them from the library. As a kid, I owned the Little House series, and those were read many, many times.

I reread my favorites, but I've been trying to broaden the types of books I read to include other genres so lately I've been trying to read new books instead of rereading ones.
I occasionally re-read a book, but not often. That said, there are a couple of series on my re-read list at the moment because I loved them and it's been so long since I've read them. However, my to-read list keeps growing, too. Ugh, such internal conflict
I haven't picked an option yet because I have a question and I think I know the answer but... Does this include books read to our LOs? Because if the answer is yes then I think everyone's answer should be 'all the time'.
I love re-reading books that I read in middle school or high school. It's a whole new perspective. I reread books all the time. I read one book and loved it so much I pretty much started from the beginning as soon as I'd finished.
@elf828 I'm a fast reader too (or was, pre-baby), so I used to re-read for the same reasons!
And I generally try to finish every book I ever start. There are some exceptions, but it's probably like 10 books or less that I've started and didn't finish. I came thisclose to not finishing The Book Thief. I didn't care for it. But one of the best books I've ever read? I also came thisclose to not finishing it. I try to use that as a lesson and finish what I start. But...precious little time to read.
I've read The Jester by James Patrerson about 15 times now, I take it on holiday with me every year! And every time a new book in the John Connolly Charlie Parker series comes out I read the entire series again to make sure I'm caught up. I read the entire Game of Thrones series three times to make sure I caught most things (big books!!) and did the same with The Lord of the Rings books (The Hobbit was my favourite book as a kid so I read that about 100 times)....I might have a book addiction lol
FFThC? I'm so relieved no one chose "I Don't Read Books." I guess there's nothing wrong with not reading, but at least I can continue to believe that everyone loves books like I do.
My husband doesn't get why I reread books. We both buy plenty. My argument is why are we spending money to buy a book if you AREN'T going to reread it??
And, same as @lalaprep and @elf828, I'm a fast reader and I know I miss things, so like to pick them up on the second (or third or fourth or fifteenth) time through.
I am a fast reader so I sometimes miss things, making it necessary to read some books over again. My favorite book in the world is Gone with the Wind and I estimate I've read it about 15 times. My old copy is held together with a hair tie.
Do you guys give up on bad books or do you push through and finish them?
OMG - that's my fav too! I read it the first time when I was about 12/13yrs old at my Grandma's house when we were visiting. She gave me her edition when she passed.
And @bookshelves, I may be buying txts since it's playing like 15mins from my house. So cool!
