Nope. Never had one. Never had the flu. Not going to fix what isn't broken. And I won't be giving one to my kid either who has NEVER been sick (knock on wood!).
I never use to get them. Then I joined the military and it's required so I havr had them for 4 years. Will do it this year as well just because we will have a new baby in the house right in the middle off flu season, but after this year will go back to not getting them.
I will get it. I always get a flu shot. It has helped keep me very healthy. I never get anything worse than a mild cold. My husband and both my kids will also be getting a flu shot. There's no way to know one year to the next how bad the flu outbreak will be. The shot not only helps protect against the strains it was developed for, but makes other cases of the flu milder. We have many friends in our circle with babies, and we both have elderly relatives that we visit. Protecting ourselves means protecting them also. Flu for us is most likely just an inconvenience, but for them it can be deadly.
Crap. I wonder if J needs the flu shot before we start the toddler classes. We start saturday.
It is highly recommended by my pediatrician every year before or as soon as the school year starts. The immunity will take a little while (2 weeks or so) to be effective.
Question: How come the arguement, "well I've been fine up until now" works for the flu shot but not something like seat belt safety?
Because you at more likely to die from not wearing a seatbelt than you are from getting the flu. Maybe. This is just a guess since I don't know all the numbers.
Re: Clicky Poll - This Season's Flu Shot
I don't get them for the boys either but maybe I will this year since ds1 is starting pre- k.
