October 2014 Moms

**VBAC Check-In**

Sorry this is a little late!  This will probably be a post and run from me since this is my last day in the office (woohoo!)

This check-in is for O14 moms who are planning/hoping for a VBAC or those who are still deciding between a RCS and a VBAC.

How far along are you?

Where are you in your decision making process at this point?

How are you feeling about a VBAC?

Any new updates to share since our last check-in?

Re: **VBAC Check-In**

  • 36wks and 1 day (omg!)

Still planning a VBAC.  As long as I have no more bleeding I'll be allowed a TOL.  I have zero worries about being able to labor, I just need to convince my body to behave until then.

    35 weeks, 2 days

Where are you in your decision making process at this point?
    Firm plan for a TOLAC.

How are you feeling about a VBAC?
I feel really confident about giving labor a shot and I am so excited at the idea of a VBAC, but I can't shake the fear that my blood pressure will go up soon like it did with DS.  The only thing that would change my plan for a VBAC is if I need to be induced early medical reasons and I'm not favorable so I'm trying to keep my expectations low.

  • How far along are you? 34 weeks and change

Where are you in your decision making process at this point?  Feeling more optimistic about a successful VBAC.

How are you feeling about a VBAC?   see above.

Any new updates to share since our last check-in?  We decided not to hire a doula as us and her had too different of a labour theory.   So, now it's just us (me and DH).  Also, I signed out what seems like a really good book from the library called The Birth Partner:  A guide for Dads, doulas and (can't remember the rest!).

    VBAC

How are you feeling about a VBAC?
Good, Mostly still nervous on the details of who/whom will watch me LO!

Any new updates to share since our last check-in?
    1) My husband and I have started going over an online birthing class we got from our hospital. Some of the info is really great so far.

    2) My doc, DH and I all have agreed if 4 days after my due date if I have not dilated or effaced yet we will go ahead and just do another c/s.  I don't want to be induced if my body is not ready.  We are hoping that things won't get to that point as i was 100% effaced by week 38 .

I think this is such a good idea.  I've been talking casually about under what circumstances I'd choose a c-section and this is probably one of them.  I should probably talk to my midwives about how far they'd recommend letting me go, although I didn't even make it to 38 weeks with DS.

    VBAC

How are you feeling about a VBAC?
A little nervous. I feel very unprepared for birth this time around. I need to start refreshing myself. I have kind of blocked it all out for some reason and I'm sure that will not help me have a successful VBAC.

Any new updates to share since our last check-in?

I have been bad about check ins. I have decided with my Dr that if there is any need for induction, I want to go straight to a section. I am just playing it by ear in the mean time.

I still have some fear of having a VBAC and I wish I could shake it. I am guessing it is from the dramatic birth of my son, but I try to keep reminding myself that I was induced and my body wasn't given a chance to do what it was naturally meant to do. I just don't want to go through that again...

I would also do a c-section if I could get liposuction and suck all that fat out and just have one recovery!  :)

Still very much wanting a VBAC. My doctor won't induce for a VBAC, so if I don't go into labor before 41 weeks I will have a RCS. My water broke the day after my due date with my son, so I'm hoping it doesn't come down to that.
How are you feeling about a VBAC?
I feel great about the decision to VBac, but I'm at complete peace with another c-section if I need one. It took me a long time to get to this point.

DH and I discussed our birth plan with the doctor at my last appointment and we are all on the same page. At my next appointment they will be doing a quick ultrasound to see where baby is positioned. I'm looking forward to that.

That's awesome, @pepperpotts317.  I say this a lot, but I don't know if I really believe it.  I am way more scared of another c-section than I am of labor and vaginal delivery and I can't really figure out why.  I wish I could say I'm at peace with things going either but I feel like I'm lying to myself a little.  I am jealous of your outlook!

  • @ashie0610 It took me a really long time to get to this point. My son's birth so so traumatic and I really had to work through it. Talking about it a lot and writing out his birth story helped me heal. I was scared to have another baby until I was ready to deal with another c-section if I had to. The hospital I'm delivering at is very baby friendly and will have DH do skin to skin and won't just take the baby without asking. Two things that really bothered me last time. I think and hope that when the time comes we will both truly be ok with however these babies need to get out.

My doctors are all on board with my vbac and barring complications I have the green light
How are you feeling about a VBAC?
Hopeful, nervous because it means so much to me, scared of pain, but more informed than I was last time. I still need to get myself in gear and open up that prenatal yoga dvd and that Bradley Method book...

Shared my birth plan today (If anyone wants to see just pm me) and the doctor I saw today (one of three potential delivery doctors) said she's on board with it for the most part. Big relief to know I won't have to fight for everything. She had some hesitancy about a couple things but I'll do more research so I know if there are other options I would prefer that she might compromise on.
