TTC Check-in (Sept 1st)

It's nearly not Monday where I am but here we go... Let's check in!

How is your/your partner's TTC journey progressing?
*Reminder - If you have a BFP to announce, please do so by creating a new thread for everyone on the board to see. Thank you*

QOTW: What's the last thing you read -- aside from the internet/the Bump, that is?!

Re: TTC Check-in (Sept 1st)

  • I'm 6 days post-ICI. I feel like the timing was good. I'm glad we switched donors. Now it's wait and see. As always, trying not to symptom spot but failing miserably. Greatest (probably imagined) symptom so far: extreme thirst. I can't get enough water. Not sure about when to test. After I ate pizza and wanted more this evening, wife turned to me and said, "Is there some kind of test you can do?" I'd say she's wondering.

I read a manga on the bus this morning. Highly intellectual stuff!

Look forward to hearing where you're all at. It's been a bit quiet lately. Assuming everyone is enjoying the Labor Day weekend!

  • I squeaked by with this cycle! I am on CD 6. My day 3 baseline ultrasound showed a cyst so I had to go back for blood work, I guess they were worried that my dates were off. My blood work came back perfect, so I am waiting to call tomorrow to find out if I start the ultrasound gauntlet on Thursday or Friday.

We spent the weekend on Long Island with A's family. It was nice to have a ton of extra eyes on M while he ran around like a maniac.

I am reading a bunch of business and leadership stuff. Trying to get in the zone to go back to school next week (last class in my masters). I always have about 5 books going. Also reading Little Blue Truck and Dig Dino's Dig about 1,000 times a day :)
Same-sex couple- In love with my awesome wife, A, since 2007
Our son M was born 6.2013

M was conceived via IVF using donor sperm and my wife's eggs. My wife carried.

Now I am starting my second FET with embryos from A's IVF cycle...this is our last shot.

    ET 9/15- BFN

  • I am 5 days post IUI and praying that this second one works. I have read other posts from people where it took more than 8 times. That's crazy to me! My doctor won't do more than 5 IUI's. I am probably more hopeful than I should be that this IUI is going to work. I haven't really had any symptoms.
The last thing I read was PoliceOne website. I read about the fallen K9 in Oklahoma.
  • @officerofthelaw Fingers crossed for you! We're on to IUIs next if this ICI doesn't take. Will your doctor move you to IVF after 5? Good luck!
  • @channe9‌ Yes! I will probably only give it two more chances and not wait for the 5th chance and then my doctor will allow me to move to IVF.
  • DW and I completed 4 at home AI so far and plan is to continue until we see a temp spike indicating O.  The first one while it went fine was a little comical, we were nervous and excited which resulted in lots of laughter but, as we progress everyone including our donor is much more comfortable and things are now flowing.

QOTW: What's the last thing you read -- aside from the internet/the Bump, that is?!  I am currently reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth.

    BFP #2 12/30/2014 ~ EDD 9/13/2015 Stick bean stick!
  • I'm on CD 9 today. Just temping and plan on starting OPKs tomorrow (kind of want to wait until Thursday because I don't want to waste any when I know it's going to be negative, but I have this irrational fear of it being positive super early) Other than that, there's not much else going on. I wish we were lucky enough to have a known donor. The thought of having to spend money on more sperm and only getting two shots at timing it right is stressing me out! Still anxious if next month so we can start again!

GTKY: I just finished two books last week. Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry and Trail of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz... I haven't started anything new since I finished those!

Nothing new and exciting here. Still on my BCP. I was supposed to stop them for 5 days but got the week mixed up, so only stopped for 3 and started right back up. This time around I haven't gained my usual 10 pounds and actually have lost about 9lbs since my last retrieval. It's nice not to feel so bloated all the time. I have my RE appointment still scheduled for Sept. 15th. The usual b/us.

I did skip TTC check-in last week only because of my new crazy work schedule but I still read how everyone is doing!

QOTW: I just read and went through my new contract for my job. I actually don't remember the last book I read. Life has been so busy lately for me to actually sit and read.

  • Hi everyone!  I thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself.  I typicaly post on the parenting check in.  My wife is @Mamosey and we have a 6 month old son born in Feb that she carried using my egg. We may be crazy, cause we are gearing up for baby #2 with me carrying!

A little bit about our TTC #1 background: We live in MA and our insurance pays for infertility tx only after 12 months of documented IUI's for women 35yo and younger.  We never thought we'd need infertility coverage but after 12 IUI's we moved onto IVF paid for by insurance.   She had 2 failed IVF cycles before being dx with low ovarian reserve.  At this point we got insurance approval for me to be her "egg donor".  In May 2013 I under went IVF with great success.  I had 17 eggs, 13 fertilize and all made it to day 5/6 embroyos.  We put 2 back in and 1 resulted in our son.  We have 6 on ice and those are the ones we will be using for baby #2.

It was a long road to get our baby and the talk of TTC #2 has brought all those emotions flooding back to the surface.  I'm hoping the universe feels like we "paid our dues" and goes easy on us this go around. So we head into this process with baggage from our past but hearts full of hope that I get knocked up fast.  We are paying OOP for the FET's so I only have 2-3 FET tries before we go back to her carrying again.

So I'm waiting for AF to show up this week then I have to do a saline u/s in the next 2 weeks before we can get the green light to get an FET schedule.

I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you.

    :)
  • Thanks @TwoMomsinTX.  Sorry you got benched:( It sucks getting your hopes up and planning every detail only to be put off another month.  Take this time to recharge your batteries because next month when you're knocked up and exhausted, you'll be wishing you rested more ;)

And the 2 under 2? LOL.  That  brings up the age old IVF question, " how many to put back in?" We always did 2 but the thought of 3 kid under 2 makes my eye twitch.  So it'll be 1 embroyo for now and we'll see how crazy desperate we get if we need to do FET #2.

  • Late check in here :)

SO is currently 3 dpiui. We did the letrozal with trigger had 2 good size follies. I am hopeful but not too hopeful if that makes sense. This attempt number 4 for her.

After this if it doesn't work we have plans to speak with RE and trying to figure something else out.

I just got done reading Gone Girl. Wanted to read it before move comes out.

New Plan: Reciprocal IVF, me as carrier wife's eggs. Just went through insurance and received partial approval, so my part will go through my IVF benefits and wife's part will be out of pocket. Now just finalizing finance plans to cover the oop costs. Doctors office is in process of moving to a new building so there are no IVF start ups until March/April 2015.

  • So I'm going to do another update (cause I'm a rebel)

Today is CD 12 and I got a positive OPK this morning (early afternoon? It was around noon).... I decided to keep testing until FF figures out my ovulation day, and after work, when I tested again, it was back to negative.

I'm not doubting the positive, it coincides with lasts months ovulation (I had a positive on CD13 last month) I'm just hoping a positive today will help FF calculate my ovulation day. I'm missing a temp from Weds because I couldn't find my thermometer that morning, so I only have 6 semi-erratic temps so far. Anxious to see what my temps are like over the next few days!
