2nd+ timers with preschooler?

Hi everyone. DH and I have a 3 1/2 yo son and we just got our BFP yesterday! Has anyone else thought about how to break the news to their preschooler? We are planning on waiting until just before we tell our families so he doesn't spill the beans before we're ready. What do you plan on doing?

My little guy is 2 and we already told him. He had no idea what we were talking about though!

This is my seventh pregnancy and we will wait quite a while before telling our children and our extended family.  I've had two losses which is just too hard to explain to very young children so I'd rather wait until I'm well into my second trimester.  We'll see how that goes as my oldest is getting much better on figuring things out.

When we do tell them it will be a simple "you're getting a new brother or sister next year."

I am not sure how we will tell our son. He will be 3 + once this LO is born. I figure as we get further along we will take him to u/s appointments and try to explain. Right now, he has no idea what we are talking about when we say he will be a big brother. LOL.

I don't know how we will tell the kids yet. My oldest is 4 and she is probably the only one that will know what is going on. We will wait until after our ultrasound at 8 weeks to tell them.
