Transition to crib...

Was amazing!!! DD turned 3 months on Wednesday and we decided that it was time to get her into her crib. She had been sleeping in her room in a RnP, hated being on her back, first night she slept 8 hours!!! Thought maybe it was a fluke but past couple nights she's sleeping 6-8 hours. I'll take it! :-)

Re: Transition to crib...

  • Babies can be so different. We transitioned DD from her rnp to crib at 2 months and she has done great. Now we're on to transitioning out of swaddling, not sure how that'll go....

  • Tonight I'm trying pnp by my bed instead of RNP by my bed. She's not near the RNP weight limit, but she was starting to look crowded in it, and she's really moving a lot, so I figure it's time. I don't really plan to move her to her own room until after six months. Her room is upstairs , and I'm so not ready for her to be so far away.

  • I know it probably sounds crazy but I am procrastinating putting LO in her crib (she sleeps in pack n play in our room) at night because im going to miss her at night. Anyone else feel that way? I am planning on it very soon but im dreading it.
Not crazy. I was sad the first night he was in his crib and not by my side of the bed. It just made me realize he's already growing so fast. No more swaddling, in his crib, it's all too fast!

  • Well, my night with LO in the PNP instead of the RNP was terrible. I guess she's getting used to having so much space. She woke up 3 or 4 times, and had trouble going back down. I think I had been lucky having most nights with just one MOTN feeding. I'm so tired today it feels unreal. Hopefully tonight will go better.

  • I'm in the same boat with the missing them being by you. Starting to put my little man in his crib more often, and I have to remind myself that we are transitioning to his crib so he really should be in it but I love seeing him right by my side of the bed. We have a video monitor and I still find myself sneaking in to his room to see him in person. We both sleep better with him in his room though, he moves a ton in his sleep.
  • Oh forgot to mention he will NOT nap in his crib any ideas why?
  • @leahdipert‌ DD did awesome w both transition to her crib and out of her swaddle at night but hates naps in her crib. She naps on our bed (surrounded by pillows) or in the RnP still. I never could figure out why exactly but poor crib napping didn't indicate poor crib sleep overnight.

DD started doing a similar thing about three nights after we put her in her crib. I think she's just waking herself up from having so much room. There's a good hour stretch where she cries when her paci falls out and I get up, give it back and do this about 3-4 times before she finally goes back down. It is slowly getting better though. Still just having one motn feeding, I just have to pay attention to when she's upset she woke herself opposed to being hungry.

  • Only woke up once last night in his crib, and managed to put himself back to sleep! Not bragging though because it's still the nap torture chamber. I don't get it. Whatever at least he's sleeping at night.
  • Transition from rnp was difficult the first two nights. DD got up pretty much all night long. By third night she only got up once and then the next 5 nights slept great. Now we are back to square one as I type this from the glider in her room as I have given up going back and forth between rooms. And naps forget it she wakes up in a rage if I put her to nap in the crib... Any suggestions to teaching self soothing? I wait 5 min when she starts to cry but eventually she just works herself up and I have to go in and give her the paci.

  • We also let LO cry for just five minutes and by that time she's worked herself up enough that when we give her her paci, it settles her down within seconds. But she also isn't liking napping in her crib. Wakes up every time I try to put her down. So naps on her boppy are what's getting us quiet time during the day.
