TTC After a Loss

*~*~*Ladies in Waiting*~*~

Welcome to Ladies In Waiting. This is a group designed for all the ladies in the various stages of waiting after a loss: waiting to miscarry, waiting for AF to arrive, waiting to TTC again, and waiting for a BFP. Since this process is such a true test in patience, it is nice to have the support and friendship of other women going through similar experiences and emotions.

-Check in is every Wednesday- New members: Post an intro and your current TTC status. - Current members: Post updates, link to your chart, upcoming appointments, requests for T&Ps. - Weekly check-in's will include an inspirational quote.

Please do not worry if your name is not on the check in, I only put those that participated in the previous check in. Please make sure that if you get a BFP to PM me. I try to check PGAL, but sometimes I may miss it.

I look forward to getting to know you!

Love, BookishMomma

Current members- Please update us as to how you're doing! This check-in has gotten quite bit and I'm running off to the dentist, so I don't have time to personalize the greetings this morning, but I'll catch up with the replies. Happy Hump Day!

Re: *~*~*Ladies in Waiting*~*~

  • Hi @bookishmomma - Hope the insomnia has gotten better.  :)

I am back after a brief stint as an April 2015 mom.  Refresher: I experienced my second loss last week Tuesday.  Doctor described it as a chemical pregnancy and cleared the hubby and I to try again whenever we feel ready.  I decided I wanted to wait a cycle and see what my body was up to so I am currently waiting on AF.  The doctor told me that I am healthy and have no issues so she believes that my two losses their year are bad luck.  Hopefully it's just that and my bad luck streak is over.

(((((((hugs))))))) to the rest of you ladies in waiting!

  • @lyndz333, I hope your bad luck streak is over too! I took a peek at your chart and it looks like your temps have been low for several days now. Hopefully AF is just around the corner.

@Amybunny30, I can imagine TTA brings up a lot of new emotions after the last several months have been focused on TTC. I hope you are enjoying this time with YH and are taking care of yourself! Do you have any fun plans this weekend? Weekend plans seem to cheer me up when I get mid-week doldrums.

AFM, I am 8 DPO today in our first cycle TTC since our loss. My LP is generally 10-11 days. I initially planned on waiting until Friday to test, but I've been antsy since Monday so MH and I agreed to start testing tomorrow. I think I have covered preeeeetty much all emotions in the last few days. Today I am stoic as I prepare for the next few days of testing. I'm just trying to prepare myself emotionally for either result. This weekend we are going to visit some of MH's family and we are taking our furbabies with us. I love traveling with them, so I hope it will cheer me up if it's a BFN and give me some needed distraction.

  • @Amybunny30 I'm so sorry to hear about the return of your migraines, what a tough thing to struggle with especially given the circumstances. I know what you mean about the mixed feelings of not being in the tww.

@lyndz333 I am so sorry to hear about your all too recent loss. I have also been through two losses this year and like you, my OB is currently classifying it as bad luck. My heart is with yours hoping that your bad luck runs out soon!

AFM, I am waiting for my heart to heal so we can start figuring out when we will TTC again. Right now I am also waiting for AF to return after my 8/2 MMC. After my last MMC I had a 38 day 1st cycle back so hoping that its something similar. I hope healing is on its way, its hard to wake up every day wondering what could have been. :-(

@LDubHawksFan, that's exciting about your new doctor! It sounds like that will coincide nicely with when you're able to TTC again. And I'm glad YH is so excited!

    @CreechMommy, GL!

  • I'm new to this check-in, so here's a bit about me -

Went off BCP 6/2013. First BFP April 30, 2014. Lost on May 5 due to a likely chemical pregnancy. Second BFP June 26. EDD March 7. U/s at 7w5d and 9w5d showed a blighted ovum. Waited for a natural m/c, which didn't happen. Took cytotec 8/18. Now I'm waiting until my appointment on Friday to confirm that the cytotec was effective.

I'm hoping to eventually figure out how to link to my chart. Technology is not always my friend.
  • @bookishmomma ugh, the dentist, potentially the thing I dislike the most in all of life, I hope your appointment goes well!

@lyndz333 I am so sorry. "Just bad luck" doesn't make it hurt less. I hope this cycle goes by quickly for you and you emotionally and physically heal quickly.

@amybunny30 Migraines, blow. I am sorry sweetie. I am glad you and DH have been connecting better and that you are feeling better. ((HUGS))

@mrsphd83 8DPO is when I start to crack too. The suggestion was made on the crazy train today that for each day you don't test you get to buy yourself a pair of shoes, I find this to be brilliant ;) Good luck and FX for a BFP

@thegiantfam I hope you find tons of support here while your heart heals

@creechmommy We are at the exact same point in our cycles, we can be cycle buddies! Let's help each other not test till at least 10DPO…. ugh, the next 6 days are going to be ROUGH.

@Ldubhawksfan Waiting for AF is the worst, probably because it is so different when you are eagerly willing it to come when in our TTC journey we are often willing it not to come. I hope she comes soon and the next cycle flies by so you can burn the bench!

AFM- I am 4DPO, and dying. I jumped on the crazy train today, because all I can think about is POAS. I am a week out from when I would ideally like to test for the first time, because I don't want a ton of disappointment.  We leave for Belgium at the end of the week and I am hoping that keeps me soooo busy I don't think about it!

    WAITING IS THE WORST.

    ((HUGS)) ladies.

  • @creechmommy I am trying to convince myself that too, I have 1 FRER, 1 Clear Blue, and about 30 Wondfos though, so a little harder to make myself wait! :) However I am only taking 2 Wondfos and the FRER on our vacation and I am making my husband hold onto the FRER in his bag, so I can't have it until at least 10DPO.

  • @lalalady54 I have two FRERs.  I thought about getting clearblue but I couldn't bring myself to buy them because of the possibility of seeing "not pregnant" The lack of a pink line is easier for me to accept.

You plan to test next tues or wed?  I am trying to hold out till wed.  That will be 11 DPO

  • @creechmommy My original goal was to bring none and wait until I came home next weekend, then I realized there was no way I would survive! Usually I would let my temps dictate when I test, I am one who will normally get a noticeable implantation dip when I am in fact going to get a BFP, so if I see that I will probably test 4 days after, otherwise I will wait until at least 10DPO, and then test at 10DPO, 12DPO and 13DPO….because let's face it- who can actually wait till 14DPO?

  • @lalalady54 Yea I've seen on different websites people advising to wait until a missed period (or a few days after) to test and thinking to myself "does anyone really do that??" No way!! haha

@mrspipp, welcome! I hope your follow-up appt goes well.

@Lalalady54, I *LOVE* the suggestion about a pair of shoes for each day I don't cave to my POAS junkie tendencies. Let's see....that would be at least 3 new pairs of shoes :D I hope you have a wonderful time in Belgium! And I think that rationing your pee sticks will really help the TWW anxiety. I only have 3 FRERS in our house right now and I told myself I'm not buying any more this cycle. So better use them wisely!!

@ashtog, I think this sounds like a wonderful plan! And I'm so happy you found a plan that you and both of your doctors are ok with. Have fun on your girls shopping trip! I assume when you say "the city" that you mean NYC? I'm about 1.5 hours from NYC by train. I like to know who is around me in case there is ever a future GTG in my area :)

@CharlieFox30, woohoo for normal cycles! Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy in the next couple of weeks. And that's so sweet about YH. I find that it helps to take the edge off my obsessing over FF if MH is involved too. Because then I can talk to him instead of just living in my head with all of my info. He can also help to talk me down when I'm getting too wound up over timing, testing, etc.

ETA: @BookishMomma, I meant to say earlier that I LOVE the Tina Fey quote. We were going through a lot of unknowns/stresses earlier this year (which ultimately culminated in our MC). This has been my mantra for the past 5 months or so, but I haven't been doing a good job of saying it lately. I'm a bit of a control freak and I like to predict everything. But you can't. Thank you for reminding me of this today. I needed to hear it again!

  • I am going to post now and come back later to offer hugs and support to everyone!!

I am currently on CD24 and will test this upcoming Monday morning. I have a 50/50 chance ;) I'm totally conflicting with whether I think we even have a chance!! My RE is awesome and called me yesterday to check in and see how I was doing. I had gotten the *yes* on ovulation on Monday Aug 11th and that afternoon was also thrilled to see fertile CM. DH and I had covered Saturday and again Monday night. Then he was off on a work trip. Come Wednesday morning I woke up for my normal temping and when inserting the thermometer it was shooting pain. FMU was also burning. I immediate assumed a UTI and called the RE office to get a urine test done. The nurse called it in and told me no sex until we get the results back. They didn't call me until Friday morning (8/19) and let me know everything came back negative for bacterial infection. The nurse suggested It could have been ovulation. I was so frustrated as we were told NO sex so we may have missed my surge. Move forward to the RE's call yesterday. He was super reassuring and said he would be most confident with going with the CM and I should expect that Monday at CD15 was when I ovulated. He cracked a few jokes and encouraged me, if we get a bfn, to go with the monitoring and trigger shot in September. Then to top it off my temping/fertility friend says I'm most likely to ovulate yesterday or today! Yet AF should arrive no later then CD 34 which is end of next week. Seems late to be ovulating on a 31-34 day cycle. Thanks for letting me write out my thoughts!! I'm so ready to know one way or another so we can proceed accordingly!

  • @lyndz333 Hoping your bad luck is over! ((hugs))

@Amybunny30 In a way it is nice to not have to be on a TTW. How ever this TTA thing is new and has me anxiously waiting for AF. I hope your migraines subside soon and you can enjoy your date night this weekend!

@MrsPhD83 I hope you can enjoy your weekend getaway!

@Creechmommy I did the same thing with holding on to my test like their were no more left in the stores if I pee'd on them too early. Good Luck!

mrspipp I hope your appointment Friday goes well!

ashtog I like that plan. Eliminate the stress and bring it back to basics. Here's to lots of sex! Nothing wrong with that!

CharlieFox30 Glad to hear that your cycle went right back! Quiet sex just gives it a little bit of an edge. The thrill of being herd! ;))

AFM: We are still TTA for this cycle. Had an ultrasound and another round of blood work this morning. Apparently I have retained a piece of tissue which I'm sure explains the constant spotting. Currently I am lurking the TB and trying to figure out GIFs while I impatiently wait for my doctor to call. :-q The waiting really never ends does it?

Good Luck to all you ladies in your TTWs!

DenaMaree I hope you get good news!

@lyndz333 Wishing you a long streak of good luck!!

@Amybunny30 Wishing you good vibes and no migraines!

@MrsPhD83 Safe and fun travels this weekend!

mrspipp I hope your appointment goes well!
ashtog I wish you lots of luck with the old fashioned and fun route of lots of sex!
CharlieFox30 Hooray for normal cycles! Quiet sex - what's that??
@thegiantfam Good vibes and healing hugs are being sent your way :)
@LDubHawksFan I hope AF comes to visit you soon. We've been on similar times lines, so hopefully she'll visit you very soon. Hugs!
@uromys I'm sorry to hear about the retained tissue! I had some too and I passed it two days later - I was soooo relieved and happy. I hope this happens for you too. I massaged my lower abdomen to help "shake things loose" and it helps me with AF and through the MC process.

You guys, AF came to visit yesterday!! Hooray for that annoying, messy, painful guest - I love :x her so much!! On to waiting to ovulate and a BFP!

  • Hi @BookishMomma ! May I come and cuddle with you all for a little bit?  I am waiting for AF after D&E, waiting for these damn betas to go the EFF away, and waiting to ttc, again.

Here is the shortest version I can give - Discovered our second MMC on July 2, D&E on July 3. Everything went well. Betas started off dropping quickly, but are taking their damn time these past few weeks. An example of the last 3 weeks of betas: 25, 13, 7 (yesterday). FREAKING 7. Next Tuesday, I bet it will be 2…anyone want to take bets?

I told me RE that I am almost positive that I had my first AF on Mon Aug 4, but it was in the middle of brown spotting, so who the hell knows.

Any way, that is the short version. Love to you all & I am happy to be active on the board, again.

@lyndz333 and @thegiantfam‌ I really hope it is just bad luck and that you won't have to stay here long.

@amybunny30 Ugh, I totally know what you mean about the hormonal migraines. I get them around AF and O time and they SUCK. That's interesting that you didn't have them on your IUI cycle. I'm doing IUI in October and I hope mine go away, too!

@MrsPhD83‌ and @CreechMommy‌ @Lalalady54‌ FX for you this cycle! I have a good feeling I'll be getting some PMs pretty soon with BFP news!

@mrspipp I'm sorry for your losses. I hope the cytotec got everything and that you can move on soon.

@Ldubhawksfan that's sweet that your DH is excited to get back on the horse, too!

  • @ashtog I'm so glad you are going to give yourself a bit of a mental break. You've been through so much. I, too, have had to take breaks from temping (I'm on one now) because it was making me crazy and messing with my sleep. TTC really can be a rabbit hole. I hope get some much needed peace of mind and that you get your BFP in the process!

  • @denamaree I'm sorry you've had so much confusion this month. How frustrating. I'm glad you don't have a UTI, though. I hope you managed to catch that egg anyway and, if not, that the rest of the cycle goes by quickly for you.

  • farniegal I'm on it! Thank you for the advice. I'll try anything at this point.

DenaMaree The nurse was suppose to get back to me this afternoon with a plan. When I last spoke with my doctor she was talking about going the route of another D&C, but wanted to take a look at the images again. Never herd back from the office. She said it is quite possible I can pass it myself (FX) but wants to make sure my numbers have come back down from this last beta draw.    I'm hoping for the best for you!

kvlady82 Welcome! FX that your betas came down. I'll root for your 2!

Thank you @bookishmomma! I do recall seeing you make mention of it and appreciate all your support! I'm really starting to get exhausted thinking about everything. I want to be able to work past this.

@BookishMomma - I hope you are getting some sleep this week. Have you ever looked into valerian root?

@lyndz333 - I hope things will get better for you soon.

@Amybunny30 - My friend gets migraines like that too. Have you ever tried Botox injections as a treatment?

@MrsPhD83 - Nothing like a furry family member to keep you company. They are always so much fun on road trips.

@thegiantfam - Healing is the hardest part, but with time it gets a little better.

@CreechMommy - Yay for charting! I haven’t gotten into that yet as I feel like it is a bit over my head, but I’m glad you got it figured out.

    @LDubHawksFan - I hope AF comes soon!

@mrspipp - Welcome to check-in. FX that your cytotec worked.

@Lalalady54 - Belgium sounds wonderful. My brother recently moved there and loves it.

@ashtog - A little less stress and relaxation goes a long way. I’m happy to hear this plan is working better for you.

@CharlieFox30 - Yay for a level of normalcy!

@DenaMaree - Ugh, I hate it when doctors tell you one thing and then change their minds.

@uromys - The waiting is the hardest part. As for GIFs, open the image in new tab or window and copy the link in your web address bar. Then click the square landscape button on the comment box and paste it in. A second way is to insert the link into this code: <img src="LINK HERE" />

AFM, not a lot going on as AF just left and still have one more cycle to go until cleared. I don't think I realized how much I hated condoms until now. I'd been after DH to get some for weeks but he insisted he had several. Finally found them and they all expired in 2010 before we even met - nope not going to work. Takes too much thought for this.

CreechMommy I chart stalk all the time right now. I'm still learning how to read them so I enjoy being able to compare. Beginning to think I should look for a thermometer that goes to the nearest hundredth though. :-q

  • FF gave me crosshairs this morning for Monday. If I did in fact O that day it will be the earliest O since before I went on BCP almost 12 years ago. So I guess now I'm in the 2ww. Our timing was ok, I would feel better about it if we had been able to have sex Sunday night, but we had just got done hiking/climbing a mountian so it wasn't going to happen ;)

    Started TTC Nov. 2011

    1st clomid cycle June 2012- No response :: HSG August 2012- Left tube blocked, right tube clear :: 2nd clomid cycle Aug. 2012 BFN :: 3rd clomid cycle Sept. 2012 :: BFP Sept 30th :: DS born 6/15/13 :: BFP #2 7/29/14 M/C 8/5/14 :: BFP#3 10/20/14 DD born 7/1/2015 :: Applied to be surrogate April '17 :: Transferred 1 Embryo for IFs Dec. '17 :: Surro Babe born 9/11/18 :: Started 2nd Journey May '19 :: Transferred 1 Embryo for new IFs 9/24/19 :: HB 138 at 6w6d

  • @Amybunny30‌ I was surprised this morning when the crosshairs popped up. I'm not 100% convinced either, but only time will tell.

Sending a little encouragement to all that are playing the waiting game!! I am currently trying to be as patient as i can as i wait for my first AF since the loss. I know she's on her way (As i've been charting and was able to confirm O). I'll admitt i am a bit worried that my luteal phase will have shortened due to things still being wacky and not quite back to normal. I really hope its a good length ! We are cleared to try again upon AF's return, with my next ovulation so i'm feeling very anxious/excited :)
  • Hello to everyone.
I had my follow up with my RE after last months CP/early loss. We discussed doing a chromosomal blood analysis to rule out any chromosomal anomalies causing my repeated losses as well as running a coagulation profile. So I have been checking with insurance to see if they will cover some or any and of course they won't cover it because they consider this a test to determine infertility.  I am beyond frustrated.
I really don't know what I want to do this month. I am not sure if we will try or not. And I am not sure if next cycle I will dive in to another IUI. I'm just full of uncertainty.

  • @princessisadora you can also talk to your RE, or general practitioner about drawing some of the labs under other pretenses (aka coded differently), i.e. things like factor v lieden you would want to know about anyways potentially fertility related or not.  (Some of the tests you cannot do that with as some they look at hereditary vs acquired, ps)

Also even if it is not standard for your insurance to cover they may also be willing to cover with medical documentation, I recently had the same thromphoilia panel drawn as well as some other labs etc as ordered by my peri and one of the tests wasn't initially covered but with medical evidence my insurance ended up covering it as necessity, FX for you.

  • Hi Ladies! This is my first ever post in this forum. I too am a recent April 2015 Moms dropout. I just had my second miscarriage this weekend after a blighted ovum/D&C in May.
My doc ordered us to wait two full cycles before trying again (and I will NOT be so patient with hubby's condom whining as I was last time).
I remember that the waiting to be able to try again was the one of hardest parts last time as I'm one of those people who feels like at least trying is some kind of progress.
You seem like a really nice group of women and since we are all stuck here in the waiting room together (and the magazines in all the waiting rooms I've been in recently ironically and sadly have been "Parents" or some crappy "Redbook" from March of '89)... I'm glad we are all here:)
