Failed NST now what?--updated--

edited August 2014 in September 2014 Moms
Just left the dr for a normal 34 weeks check but ended up measuring two weeks behind. Dr did an NST just for reassurance but baby failed it. So now they're sendingn me for a BPP. Anyone went through this? Trying not to freak out but worried something may be wrong with him.

--update--

Thanks for the responses! Little boy is perfectly fine and is actually quite large despite me measuring two weeks behind. And he actually wouldn't STOP moving for the tech to get his measurements. But he's perfect and scored 8/8. Tech said women get sent all the time because dr jumps the gun but I'm glad he was proactive and quick, just in case.

  • Yep. Went through it with my son twice. Each time he passed the BPP just fine. I know several other women on this board have experienced the same. It's not uncommon. Try not to worry until someone gives you a reason.

  • Your doctor will tell you what he wants done if you fail the bpp. If you pass the bpp you'll probably go in for extra monitoring for a few days to make sure it wasn't a fluke. If you fail, there are a number of different things that can happen and it all depends on what exactly is going on with baby. Good luck with the bpp!

  • Yep...just last week in fact.  We have twice weekly NST's and once weekly BPPs.  My baby failed his NST last tuesday and they immediately did a BPP and then had me come in for an extra NST that week. He passed both.  As nerve wracking as it is, its nice to have them keep such close tabs on the baby and make sure they arent getting stressed out in there.  Always better to go on the side of caution.

  • I had this last week, failed NST passed BPP just fine...very scary but as they said its very reassuring they are watching so closely.  Plus I took it as a chance to see LO again!  At least you know they are on top of things and if anything is wrong they will be able to catch it immediately!! Good luck!
  • No experience, but lots of luck to you.

  • I get weekly NSTs and either a BPP or growth scan each week also. There are so many possible outcomes based on the results that speculating is only going to give you anxiety. Talk to your Dr after the BPP, and good luck.

  • Yep alot with my twins. Nst, one kid would cooperate. Nst the following day. Nurse didn't like results, went for BPP right away. Babies passed. Repeat most weeks.

This exactly.....I failed two NST's but the BPP are perfect. Sometimes baby is just lazy....or playing with the cord...lol. I wouldn't worry (I know....easier said than done...) until you have BPP. Keep us posted!
