I hate my name. I have always hated my name. When I meet other women with the same name, I ask them how they feel about it, and most hate it.
When I was 12, my father agreed to pay half of the fee ($50) to change my name legally. I could pick anything I wanted, so I rushed off to the library and checked out a Baby Name book. I couldn't decide - no other name fit me.
My father is a very smart man. And my love of names began...
My name is Juliet. Classic, feminine, ages well, nice literary allusion, not very common in the 1970s. Aside from the Romeo jokes and the frequent misspellings by other people, it's great. Good job, parents.
DD born 10/10/07 * DS born 11/25/11 * #3 due 3/9/2015
My name is Ashley. It was obviously very popular growing up and I can remember asking my mom why she picked such a popular name for me. She said she would have picked a different name if she'd realized how popular it was but that's life before the internet.
Honestly, though it doesn't really bother me. It's not so bad having a name that everybody recognizes and can spell and pronounce.
I love my name. If it wasn't my name, I would have named DD the very same. FN and MN. Loooove. Can't say my parents did as well for all my siblings, but my name was a homerun!
My name is okay. . . my legal FN is actually a NN for a name. I actually like my first name, but I am not fond of my MN. My mom was very matchy and thought it would be cute to have my initials be all the same letter. Yeah. . . not so much. Needless to say, I was eager to change my name once I was married to break it up a little bit!
My name is fine. It was semi-popular in the 80s, but not quite Tiffany or Jennifer popularity level.
I was named the female version of my great-uncle/godfather and we both go by a pretty boyish sounding NN. It bothered me when I was growing up but I could care less now. I like having a NN but still a formal, adult name to use at work. It's why I always errr away from names that sound too juvenile in a workplace setting.
It's fine. It's a popular name for my generation. The thing I don't like is that it's an alternate, more unusual spelling that nobody ever gets right, even when I spell it out for them.
I think my name is fine, but there are tons of ways other people spell it so that can be very frustrating. I have the "traditional/correct" spelling and there are all kinds of variants out there with Ks and Ys. I'll send someone an email signed Caitlin and receive a message back addressed to Caitlyn which is so annoying...like I really spelled my own name wrong. I like the name itself but if I could rename myself I'd choose a name with only one accepted spelling.
I love my name and I didn't meet another Fiona until I was in university. The only thing I hated as a kid was the fact that I could never find my name on anything. ie: key chains, cups, souvenirs. The only place I could find it was at Universal Studios thanks to Shrek lol

My name is Lisa. I don't hate it but I don't love it either. I was never in the same class with any other Lisa until college anyway but my name wasn't crazy or unheard of. I don't believe that anybody has ever told me that I have a pretty name or commented on my name at all...just kind of boring without being overly popular.

I was saddled with two of the most popular names of my generation, AND I go by my middle name, which is super annoying for legal documents, doctor appointments, the first day of school, etc. I can't imagine being called anything else though.
I don't hate my name, but it's okay at best. It's not a super uncommon name, but it is an uncommon spelling (I think it's legit though?). It's always just a little annoying having to spell it and having it spelled wrong all the time. It's in my user name, so I guess it's not a secret!
My dad wanted to name me Scout though, so I guess I'm just glad my mom shot that down!
I love that it worked for me a baby girl, as a teenager, and as an adult. I love that I could pick any of the zillion nicknames and have them work. I love that I have a formal name that I use for work, but a fun and relaxed nn I use socially. If I didn't feel so weird about it, I would name my next daughter Elizabeth.
Fun fact: my older sisters named me after the Queen of England.

I hated my name as a kid. I'm a Susan and it was much more dated to my parents' generation. I really like it now. I'm a Professional Engineer, so having a "grown up" name, I feel, gives me a little extra credibility.
My middle name is pretty generic - Jane - but I think the two names go together really well, and I liked that the two together made my name "girly", because my personality tends towards the masculine.
My name is Jennifer Ann. Very run of the mill, with not so much a hint of originality. But my mom, born in the 70s, absolutely loved the name and so it was meant to be. But I am only 24 and it was not nearly as common growing up as it might have been 10 years earlier. I never knew many Jennifers. One great thing is there are many nicknames. People call me Jen, Jenny, Jenna, and J, along with the long form Jennifer. It is just fine. I don't love it but I wouldn't change it. I do find it a little bit stuffy and snobby sounding for my personality though... but I doubt anyone else feels that way.
I love my name, even though it probably breaks all the rules about naming. It is a made up name, it has never ranked in the top 1000, I have always had to correct people on the pronunciation and spelling of my name, I always spell it without being asked, I have been called many other names by accident...But hey, it's me, and I consider myself to be named after my father and grandfather, and it's special to me.

I did not like it when I was younger because no one else had it. I wanted a name that other girls had. As I got older I started to like the fact that it's not overly common. (It's not a totally out-there name, but you don't meet one of me every day either.) When I moved out of my small town I met quite a few other girls with teh same name, but a different spelling. I've only met a handful IRL with my spelling and now I kind of get prickly about it when I meet someone with the same spelling - almost like, "Hey! That's MY name...you can't have it!"
My name is Aimee (I also have a very French maiden name) but I wish it was Amy to make it easier especially since my married name is a lot easier. Sick of being called Annie though (I get this a lot no idea why). Also I worked with an Emily and sooo many clients would call for Aimely, so we never knew who it was for! people also call me Ah-may which is fine since most of my family is French.
My name (Abigail nn Abby) is ok, I don't hate it but I don't love it either. My older sister's name is Raina; growing up I always felt like she got the cool name and I got the boring name.
My first name is fine although having to always spell it out gets old. Like @Happy_Yahoo_Personaler my nicknames get misspelled often, too. When I'm not Rebekah, I go by Bekah or Bek, but even my dad has spelled it Beca before. You picked out the name, dude!
Growing up, I was always self conscious of my middle name, though (Nancy).
It's ok. It's a nickname as a legal name, I like it better than the full name. The full name was pretty popular at the time so I get called that a lot.
I hate my name! My first name is fine, nothing that I am too excited about but I have never used it. My parents decided to do the whole "call her by her middle name" thing (which I strongly advise against) and gave me a name that is sort of common but spelled it in a strange way. It is not made up or anything and it is a legitimate spelling just not a common spelling. So my whole life I have had to explain that "no, I don't go by my first name and no, I don't spell the one that I use the way you think it is spelled" SUPER ANNOYING!
I like my name, it was more popular than I care for when I was born and consequently have often had to share work or class space with another of my name.
I love my first name and I love my middle name. I just don't think the names sound good together. I'm Anna Naomi. There would be maybe 1 other Anna in my school at all times, if even. I know many little girls now named Anna. My parents must have liked palindromes because my sister's first name is Eve. Overall they did great as both Anna and Eve are classic names.
Mine isn't bad, it just doesn't really suit me. In movies it's always the popular cheerleader and that's definitely not me. There's one nickname for the name and no one has ever really called me that except my sister on occasion. My parents call me by a nickname for my middle name quite often (Nikki). Name is Courtney Nicole, pretty typical 80's style name.
Not a fan of my name. It doesn't roll off the tongue easily. When I introduce myself to others, it is frequently taken to be another name. It's possible I simply have trouble pronouncing it. Add to that the fact that there are two popular spellings, along with a dozen alterna spellings and I'm constantly correcting people.
I'm happy with my name (I'm a Megan, but not that spelling). As a kid, I did not love being one of several Megans in a class. I also resented not having a middle name. My mom had a long formal name, often used with her middle name, so she thought she was doing me a favor by not "saddling" me with a mn.
Of course, LO on the way is getting a longer formal first name with nickname options and a definite mn. She'll probably do the opposite for her daughter!

Hate.
It's actually sort of pretty, but so so so dated that I'm pretty sure you can guess my age within 5 years if I told it to you.
Hint: it's not Helena.
