Kane? Connor?

So whats the response for the name Kane?  My DH loves it.  I am on the fence.  I personally like Connor even though it is popular.  

So Kane or Connor.

Middle name will be Michael.

    Is Kane a family name?  that's the only way I would choose it.  Otherwise, I prefer Connor (though it too is NMS).

    ^ This. People always ask what the story is with a name that is a little off the beaten path - and it's nice to be able to have an answer.

    But bottom line, I don't think you can go wrong with either - both are recognizable as names.

    It makes me think of Cain from the bible.  Wasn't he sort of a dick?

    Connor is OK for me.  Prefer it to Kane.

    What about Dane or Cale?

    Ditto.  DD's name is very unusual (much more so than Kane) but if I am asked an explanation or feel the need to offer one, I can say it's a family surname and that works.  The problem with Kane, I think, is 1. people will be inclined to spell it Cain just from hearing it and 2. it's not a great association if they do.  I am not wild about Connor, but I think it's probably easier to live with.

    Conor is my top choice, but being Irish it only has the one 'n'. Two just look weird to me (it's a surname), but I know it's more common in the US.

    True story: I worked at a Rite Aid when I was in highschool... a woman came in and for some reason decided to tell me her son's name was Cain... she asked if I could guess why and I said "from the Bible?" She said "No...because I was addicted to cocaine while I was pregnant."

    Well I mean, I guess it depends on your definition of a dick.  Personally, I draw the line somewhere before killing my brother, but you can make your own choices

    Conor. Because "Kane" leads me to either Cain mentioned above, or to Kane the WWE wrestler. And neither are great associations.

    Not my dog but my dad's dog is an asshole jack Russell named Kane. That's all I think of when I hear it. It's a very harsh name IMO. Go with Connor, op!

    Michael is a family name and I love Kane, so I think it is a fantastic name!!

    I'm in the minority here but I love Kane (prefer the Cain spelling). As a teacher I'm just so sick of all the Connor's.

    Thanks everyone.  You have made my argument against Kane a stronger one.  He has bowed out gracefully at the name choice.  He still is not 100% on board with Connor, but at least Kane is gone.

    I tend to like names with more syllables, so my preference is Connor.

    Plus the whole Cain and Abel thing.
