We'd love to name our girl (if it's a girl) either "Mary" or some variation of it.  I know spelling is important to this group...any well-spelled variations for us to consider?

PS: My name is Loren (pronounced just like Lauren)...I like that it's unique, and it is an actual name, but spelling it all the time can be a pain.

Mary is great but I love Marie.

I'm a fan of Mary how it is spelled. It's classic and goes well with millions if middle names. The furthest id stray from the original spelling is Mari or Merri, although I don't like either.

I love Marie, Moira and Miriam. I also love Maren which is not a variation of Mary but has that similar sound but very classed up imo.

I think mary is an excellent, underused classic (in recent generations at least). Love it as a double name. My good friend just had a Mary-Kate which honors both grandmas which I adore

I think plain old Mary is a great choice.

Either that or a double name (Mary Ellen, Mary Agnes, Mary Jo, etc).

If you are looking for something that uses the sound, but is a bit different, I know a little Merri whose full name is Merrimack.

I love Maria. I can't use it because it sounds terrible with our ln. Or just Mary is beautiful and timeless.

FYI: the middle name will be Jean.  We've considered using Mary Jean and possibly calling her MJ. 

I've gone back and forth whether Mary sounds like an "underused classic" or "too plain".  Depends on my mood that day, I guess.

I think it's much less likely that you will regret using a strong classic than if you reach for something fancier. And honestly, Mary is uncommon enough to sound refreshing again (it's still pretty popular in the Southeast, but dropping everywhere else).

My daughter's name is Mary.  She's named after my husband's grandmother.  Middle name Jacqueline, after my grandmother.  She goes by Mary.  I think it's a lovely name, and we really lucked out with our grandma names!

I like Mary but I also love marigold with the Nn Mary.

DD was very nearly Mary. It is a great choice.
