(Update in OP) Help! I need somebody, not just anybody. (XP; MC mentioned)

That's my attempt at humor.... So we had our 6 week ultrasound today and there's an empty gestational sac with no yolk sac, but my hcg keeps significantly increasing (though not doubling) and they suspect an ectopic pregnancy even though they can't find anything growing anywhere else yet. We go back in Monday for another ultrasound and I'll likely have to get a shot of methotrexate to induce a miscarriage. I told my mom, hoping for support, and she told me she "wishes I wasn't putting myself at risk" because apparently the IUI caused this. So, yeah, needless to say, I'm in need of some actual support from people without foot-in-mouth disease. I hope you guys don't mind if I just come back now.

Update 8/11
We had another ultrasound today. The "gestational sac" that we thought we saw before was gone, and the nurse practitioner said that it was probably just a pocket of blood. There was additional blood in my abdomen. They still cannot visualize the pregnancy anywhere else, but she said she suspects it is in a tube, and it is actually better to take care of it before it can be seen. I went in thinking I was going to refuse the methotrexate and demand surgery instead, but she strongly recommended against it, and I think she talked me out of it (I'm still kind of thinking about it). If I decide to to the MTX, it is going to be tomorrow, assuming my other labs show that I am healthy enough to take it (I guess it is pretty hard on your body). So, yeah. I'm pretty sad, but I guess considering the situation I am hanging in there. I really just don't want this to drag out, so please keep your fingers crossed that I don't end up needing surgery anyway (which happens sometimes) and that my betas drop relatively quickly.

    Oh no, I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry about what your mom said. Some people just need to not say anything if they don't know what to say. I've heard some crazy shit before in my miscarriages.

    I really hope it's not ectopic, I have no experiences so no advice. Just take care of yourself. (((Hugs)))

    July 2006: started TTC
    2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
    2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
    October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
    Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
    January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
    February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
    March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary
    July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
    August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN 
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
    IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN
    May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
    IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis
    May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
    June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
    September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5
    November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
    December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)
    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

    We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

    My heart aches for you right now.  I am so sorry that this is happening to you and that your mother was so insensitive.  You didn't do anything wrong, you are NOT to blame for this.  These things just happen sometimes for no reason.

    lebradford, I don't know you very well as I'm still relatively new to the board--but I have been rooting so much for you. I still remember how you responded to my intro just a few months ago and passed on great advice and even a useful link. You seem like a wonderful person, and it made me so sad to refresh the board this evening and see this news from you.

    I will say a special prayer for you tonight so that you find comfort/strength. When you are ready to decide next steps, I will be rooting for you and hoping that things work out.

    It also makes me sad that your mom was not supportive….

    That is awful. I'm so sorry you have to go through this.  And as if that's not difficult enough to deal with, having your mom say exactly the wrong thing is like salt in the wound.  Big (((Hugs))) to you tonight!

    March 2008 - DD born - no issues conceiving (surprise). Limited issues during pregnancy/delivery.
    June 2011 - Married DH.
    June 2013 - Diagnosis of Endometriosis and PCOS (approximate).
    December 2013 - First cycle of Clomid - Positive OPK. BFN
    January 2014 - 2nd Cycle of Clomid - Positive OPK. BFN
    February 2014 - 3rd Cycle of Clomid - Positive OPK. BFN
    March 2014 - Took month off to prep for surgery
    April 2014 - Laporoscopy for endo. Unable to remove endo due to too close of proximity to ureter. HSG done as well. Fillopian tubes open.
    May 2014 - 1st round of Femara. Positive OPK. BFN.
    June 2014 - 2nd round of Femara. Moved to RE to have CD10 Follicular U/S. No Follies in left ovary. 5 follies in right. Largest follie 8mm, 1 7mm, 2 3mm, 1 2mm. Positive OPK on day of U/S. BFN. DH has SA done at this time - All results within normal limits.
    July 2014 - 3rd round of Femara. CD10 Follicular U/S. No follies in left ovary. 7 follies in right. 1 20mm, 1 12mm, 1 10mm, 4 <5mm. Scheduled for IUI. Canceled due to low estrogen level of 145. TI this month. Prepping for Injectables next month. BFN.
    August 2014 - CD3 BW Normal. Injectables not happening because of stupid miscommunication about "required injectables class." Taking class this month. No medication. TI for the month. SIS scheduled for 8/7/14. SIS results - "I have a beautiful uterus." Huzzah!
    September 2014 - Cycle cancelled due to stupid AF coming early and making my IUI run in to DH's business trip. Try again next month.
    October 2014 - Injects with IUI cycle. 75U 5 days. Estrogen at 36. Bumped up to 125 for 4 days. Estrogen 105. Bumped up to 225. Ganirelix for 2 days. 4 mature follies. Triggered 10/9. IUI 10/10.
    BFP 10/24/2014. Beta #1 - 178   Beta #2 - 398.   U/S 11/7/14- TWINS!!!!

    I'm so, so sorry. Both for what you are going through and for your mom's lack of support.

    I really think Miss Manners, Dear Abby, and all those other advice columns really should focus on what not to say/do with regard to infertility/loss/etc during NIAW. Maybe that would help spread the word and stop some of the stupid that comes out of people's mouths.

    Oh, bradford, I am so deeply sorry. That's awful news and your mom needs a TP. I will pray for your strength and peace and comfort through this process...yours and your husband's. I truly hope it's not ectopic. I am so so sorry. :( (((HUGS))) edit: grammar

    oh hun, i'm SO sorry. I am sad and upset and anxious for you, reading this. That stinks that your mom was insensitive and said not so uplifting/encouraging things. Imagine all us 3Ters together in a group with outstretched arms and you coming in for lots of understanding and welcoming creepy internet hugs lol good luck on mon thanks for keeping us updated!

    NTNP for about a year before actively 
    TTC since April 2013
    Currently testing for infertility cause and hormone imbalance.
    Infertility & ovarian cyst diagnosis: May '14
    B/W: 'good', more ordered to check antibodies & progesterone
    SA: Normal :)
    U/Ss for cyst: who the f knows
    DH's cat scan: showed encapsulated fatty growth; u/s: didn't really show much more
    Breast Specialist: Most likely a large fibroid, but keeping an eye on it, repeat u/s every 6mos 
    HSG: clear tubes, uterus is A-ok
    WHAT'S NEXT: DH's consult with surgeon to discuss next step for growth, either biopsy or surgery~Big discussion with Dr. before any possibility of starting Clomid, since I'll want another u/s before and to be monitored and he doesn't seem into that. I had to force his hand just to order the AMH test so may be looking for another OB

    My heart goes out to you. I know exactly what you are going through and it just sucks. Plain and simple. And your mothers comment is just pouring the proverbial salt. 

    What matters is the here and now. You need support, hopefully she can focus on the now and give you that support.

    First appointment with RE 10/2013.  
    April 2014 - Clomid 100mg CD3-7.  HCG shot CD10 IUI #1 done on 4/12/14 (CD12) ....BFN
    May 2014 - Break cycle to repeat saline sonogram and re-group.  Travel to Kauai 5/7-5/12 (Yay!!)
    June 2014 - Clomid 150mg CD4-8.  HCG shot CD14.  IUI#2 done on 6/9 and 6/10 (CD15-16) w/ Prometrium suppositories during TWW .... BFN
    July 2014 - Clomid 150mg CD3-7.  Ultrasound CD12 - 4 mature follies! HCG trigger shot CD12 AM.  IUI#3 on CD13 w/ Prometrium suppositories during TWW ....BFN
    July 2014 - Repeat ultrasound done to measure size of fibroid - 8x9cm (the size of a grapefruit!) Surgery referral made.
    August 2014 - MRI done which revealed 2 fibroids: a 13x15cm fibroid as well as an 8x7cm one.  Super freak out mode over surgery plan.  OB-GYN/surgeon said surgery would most likely have to be a laparotomy (open abdominal surgery)
    August 2014 - After a 2nd opinion, plan to take Lupron x 2 months to shrink fibroids then laparoscopic/robotic myomectomy.  Surgery date is set for Nov 21st!  
    November 2014 - Robotic myomectomy done (2 large fibroids removed, mild endo found).  Benched x 3 months

    Oh I'm so sorry....my heart was just aching as I read this, I know you are going through and really rough time right now. You will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers. So sorry (((hugs)))
    Me: +35 DH: +35
    TTC: Since January 2013 
    DX: PCOS. Severe Endometriosis, Unicornuate Uterus w/only left tube and left ovary, Pedunculated fibroid (on the outside of uterus) and Anovulation. All conditions diagnosed 8/13
    TX: Metformin
    DH DX: MFI - low morphology, low motility
    Ultrasound shows both kidneys in spite of UU. 
    HSG showed clear tube on the left side. 
    Lap Surgery performed 1/9/14 to remove fibroid and endo (Stage 3)
    • IUI# 1 June 2014 started 100 mg of Clomid - 7dpiui Progesterone: 13: BFN
    • IUI#2  July 2014 started 100 mg of Clomid - 7dpiui Progesterone: 5.75: BFN
    • Natural Cycle - so shocked to be in 2WW - 7dpo Progesterone: 15.5: BFN
    • Working with new RE starting injectables in late August.
    • IUI #3 August 2014  w/ Menopur: BFN
    • Finally ovulating on my own!!
    Waiting to start IVF hopefully

    IUI#2: abandoned... O'd early & DH hormone issues (June 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x2 days)
    IUI#2.1: BFN (July 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x4 days)

    Moving on to IVF. (Why we're moving on to IVF)

    IVF#1 (w/ICSI): BCP 9/9-9/23. Gonal-F, Ganirelix, Low-dose HCG (antagonist protocol). 41R/35M/32F... 2 transferred on 10/14, 14 frosties! On cabergoline to help avoid OHSS. BFN, possibly because of 90% drop in estrogen and progesterone a few days after ET.
    FET#1: Transferring 2 on January 8. BFP! beta#1 (1/17): 408, beta#2 (1/20): 1310, first u/s scheduled 2/5

    I'm so so very sorry to hear this. Please take care of yourself and make sure you are monitored closely. When I had my ectopic I just knew something was wrong and my OB just brushed me off. If they had taken me seriously or if I would have advocated for myself more, I might have been able to take the shot and avoid surgery. I'm so sorry you are going through this. You are in my thoughts.
