We have *amazing* buffets at our local Indian, Afghani, and pizza restaurants in town. I cannot wait to pig out like the food crazed bitch I've become from pregnancy. But I'm limiting myself to once a month - not because I'm worried about food quality, but more because I'm nervous about allowing myself to indulge too much and gain more weight than I should.
But seriously, the spiced rice at the Afghani restaurant? And the curried chickpeas? OMG!!!!! *drool* My old boss loves that place - I'm going to ask her to lunch there and tell her I'm knocked up
I don't like buffets when I'm not pregnant, because the food sits out so long, and random animal-people stick their hands in shit.
Now that I'm pregnant, that's an extra hell no.
This. All the buffets around here are gross, like Ryan's, Shoney's, Golden Corral, etc.. Yuck.

All.of.this.
The only sanitary buffets around here are at the casinos. And they're just American cuisine, nothing fancy. There used to be a Japanese buffet that was pretty killer but they closed down a few years ago
Buffets make so much $ off me. The only way I'd go to one now is if I arranged it so I could come back every 30 min or so to keep feeding the tapeworm.
I think it depends on the food buffet.... if it's a clean, high quality place that replenishes food often, I would say good for it if you trust it.
We got a free breakfast buffet from our hotel two weeks ago, and we took one look and left. There were so many people (kids) not using food tongs and just grabbing things with there hands and everything had been picked through... no thanks.
For the most part I'm avoiding, but I don't even at buffets very often anyway.
Oh come the fuck on. You're going to rule out buffets for 9 months? Why?
There are very valid reasons for people not liking buffets. Nobody is forbidding you from going to them, we're just saying it's not for us. Communal style feeding is gross to anyone who has seen a kid get elbow deep in the mac n cheese.

I didn't say anything about avoiding them if you don't like them. I was referring to avoiding all buffets because of pregnancy only.

I laughed at the animal people comment. Is that the customers? I don't really go to buffets anyway, bc I've never found an appealing one around me, but I'm sure as hell not ruling out Moe's/Chipotle/Qdoba/Willy's!
Yeah I'm talking about the customers . If you sit an watch the buffet while you eat at one, you will see approximately 4 children and 2 adults stick thier hands into the food. The first time I watched for it was the last time I ate at one .
I feel if you ate at buffets before, and you didn't have any issues, go for it now! We have this amazing buffet by us, and it's one of my favorites while expecting! My motto is "Pay for one, eat for two!"
Thanks ladies. Most buffets gross me out and I always wonder how fresh the food is. But I was really thinking of places like moe's and chipotle wheee the food is sitting out but the staff makes it for you. Just wondering thoughts. Don't want to get listeria. When you google things they always post the worst case scenario
I've eaten Chipotle a couple times since my BFP. No harm thus far. At our locations the food goes so fast it doesn't sit out for long. Besides, it's all kept heated and behind the counter. *shrugs* I suppose anything could happen but I've never had an issue with those types of places.
I'm not a fan of American food buffets, but a Chinese buffet sounds really good now!
This, although I don't know if I'd consider Moe's a buffet since you don't personally handle the food until you get to the end and pay for it. And it's not all you can eat or anything lie that. I'd say it's more Mexican Subway. You pic it out, they prepare it. We used to have a place called Mongolian Grill that was like Subway and Moe's only Chinese have it your way stir fry. You picked you ingredients and sauce they made it. So Yum
Oh my gosh, BD's Mongolian Grill is awesome! Before we moved, we would go there once a month. Now that it is close to 35-40 minutes away, we go about twice a year.

We had one when we lived in Chattanooga. Now we are about 3 hours away so haven't been in a while. I don't even think we have a Moe's up here either. I love them too

Do you have a Flat Top Grill? They are similar and so delicious!
I've never heard of it but I will have to see if we have one close by
I refuse to give up Willy's (similar to Moe's/Chipotle except better)! It sounds like I need to eat it even more now, actually, before the heartburn kicks in later!
And omg I love the make your own stirfry type places! We have one near us called Chow Baby and it's so good! All the food is cooked (stir-fried, in fact) after you pick it so I figure it's fine!
I generally don't eat at open buffets anyways, but I probably wouldn't turn down a fancy Vegas style buffet if someone offered!
