Bedtime snack?

I gave DS a snack last night about an hour before bed and he slept a solid 10 hours without waking. It's rare he STTN especially lately with transitioning him out of the crib and with him teething. I'm wondering if it's just a coincidence or if it really helped.

How many of you offer a snack before bed? Do you find it helps with sleep?

Re: Bedtime snack?

  • I don't do a bedtime snack but DS has dinner about 1 hour before bed. Dinner at 5:30, bed between 6:30 and 7. He sleeps 11 hours typically.

  • We are in the same boat as pp's.  We eat around 5-530 and she is in bed by 630 or 7.  I take the end of her milk from dinner and bring it up to bathtime with us and offer it throughout bathtime and last before we brush teeth.  Some days she doesn't touch it and sometimes she drinks so much that I have to refill the thing.  She generally sleeps 10 hours.

  • J eats between 5:30 and 6:30pm and goes to bed between 7:30 and 8pm. He usually just gets a sippy of milk while in his PJ's around 7pm....then we brush his teeth and put him to bed.

  • We still do milk at night too. She looks forward to her milk and I don't know if it helps but she sleeps 12+ hours every night.

  • Dinner is 6:30 or 7, and bedtime is 9 or 9:30. We do milk before bed, but I also offer her a snack after her bath. Usually just a banana, some apple slices or wheat crackers. 12 hours is a long time to wait on eating again, so I like to offer a little snack to help her sleep.
