Waiting for a response?

How long did you wait to hear a response on a situation once you submitted your profile? Monday we submitted our profile information to a lawyer in another state for a specific situation. She was out of the office until yesterday. I spoke to her via e-mail yesterday about associated fees, hoping she might mention if we had been shown or any feedback, but no luck. My anxiety is hi has we want this to work out so bad. Any advice or input?

  • I don't have any advice to give since we didn't go through anthing like this, but just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and am hoping for a quick (and happy) answer! ((hugs))  Waiting always sucks!

  • It can vary so much, it's hard to give a specific timeframe you'll hear something. It could be the e-parents are wavering on placing at all, so they're getting space to make that decision. It could be they have a number of potential families to consider, so they're taking time to consider them all. And so on.

You are paying this lawyer, so i see no problem with directly asking where in the process your profile is, just so you have an idea of timing.

FWIW we weren't told we were shown until after the fact, if at all. I preferred it that way so we weren't waiting around on pins and needles each time.

  • We aren't paying this lawyer unless we match.

My point is, you're invested in this process one way or another. You have every expectation to be able to ask where you are in the process without hinting around.

I always felt like we waited a while to hear back from attorneys. We submitted our profile multiple times and sometimes heard quickly (a day or two) and sometimes it took 2-3 weeks. We never really knew when they would be shown to expectant parents. Being that she was out of the office, I'd give it to at least Monday to ask. I'm excited for you! I have everything crossed for you!!

After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.
