I don't care about most things that get people up in arms, I'm far to laid back. If it doesn't directly effect me, half the time I don't even pay attention.
I guess that means my UO is IDGAF 90% of the time, and and I hate when people take a stance on something just to be contrary. DH does this sometimes, and playing Devil's Advocate is fine and all, but on serious issues, I'd rather people who don't care just stay out of it and let those with the vested interests duke it out.
I don't think it's that weird that body builders and athletes (men) are into drinking breast milk. The sexual aspect is creepy to me, but otherwise I wouldn't judge at all.
@nhermie GMOs have their place in very limited capacity. The way that American farmers are using them (forced to use them) is detrimental to our natural food supply and serves the purpose of feeding big corporate bank accounts and the pockets of the politicians tied to them.
That said, GMOs can be beneficial in countries where food does not grow naturally and the population is starving. The Howard Buffet Foundation, for example, is working on creating wheat and corn seeds that will grow in parts of Africa (The Sudan, Ethiopia, etc), giving the population a food source that will enable and empower them to thrive.

GMOs for cheap shit food though? No way. No way.
Good one to bring up! :-)
I hate when I hear that farmers are forced to use gmos. It's a free market and farmers can choose to use whatever they want. Non gmo seed is commercially available. It is a choice weighed on and a decision made each year as farmers make their cropping plan for the following year. It decreases erosion (by decreasing the need for cultivation for weed control) and decreases the amount if herbicides needed for weed control as well as decreases the use of broad use insecticides. For example, bt corn produces a protein that is lethal to ONLY the target insect as opposed to needing to treat an entire field with an insecticide that could potential harm off target beneficial insects.
Also, there have been dramatic increases in yields following the development of gmo crops. Granted, I'm not ignorant enough to believe gmos are the answer to everything, but they are another valuable tool in toolbox and they still need to be used in a correct way.
In regards to countries with a poor food supply, it pays to remember that much of the us corn crop is exported to these countries, both as raw crops and as meat. Raised here, but feeding other nations. I am very happy to see that you recognized they have a place and can do some good. I'm excited to see how some of those crops fair in Africa and other countries as Norman borlaughs legacy lives on and the green revolution (the original green revolution) lives on.
I don't get when I see people on here say something akin to the following:
"My baby sleeps ten hours from 7-5 every night! S/He just wakes to feed at 10:00, 1:00, and 3:00."
Yeah... That's not STTN.
THIS!
Also, I had to bite my tongue not to laugh yesterday. I had a (very nice) sales rep for a heating system yesterday telling me about his week old baby, who apparently sleeps through the night. Bwahahaha!

Agreed. If you wake me up for any reason before 4:30-5:00, you may have gotten great sleep, you may have gone right back down like a champ, and I may have loved the baby snugs. But sleep through the night you did not.
Also, I hate this whole love your body movement and pro curves and shit. What about skinny people? Don't tell me that men only like women with curves, because then you are nothing but an effing hypocrite. Ya know what? There are things that I don't like about my body, things that pregnancy did to my body, that I don't like. I loathe and despise. And ya know what? That's OK! I can want to loose weight to look how I want to. It's no ones fault and no ones damn business, so stop making me feel bad about wanting to be skinny again Facebook. Thats who I was for a very long time, and part of ME.
Edited to say sorry if this sounds super bitchy, I'm foggy today with a bad sleeper. Just tired of the body image issue on both sides. It's ok to bit feel empowered by how you look. Don't feel guilty for not loving how you look. That is reality.

My DH also thinks our twins STTN. Just because HE's getting a full night's sleep doesn't mean mama is.
Women in the media with "curves" still have flat skinny stomaches and thin legs- they just have bigger boobs and ass (which at least half the time are paid for and fake)
Let's stop kidding ourselves that men like women with curves. We place too much emphasis on how women should be confident with their "curves" and vilify men who are more attracted to thin women. There's nothing wrong with being attracted to people of all types. I'm not attracted to curvy men, whether they're confident or not, and I don't expect men to change either. Besides, women used in advertising campaigns who are supposed to portray "the average woman" are still better looking than the average woman and I don't think they help anyone accept themselves.
I hate the "real women have curves" thing, and Sofia Vergara's bullshit because REAL WOMEN come in any number of shapes and sizes. A woman who's flat as a pancake with the hips and ass of a 12 yr old boy is still a real woman, as is someone with a rounded belly, or ample chest, or no thigh gap, or imperfect skin.
I feel like if the point is to empower people and encourage self esteem, you accomplish more by getting off the teeter totter altogether than jumping down harder on your own side.
ETA the teeter totter thing made sense in my head :S
I agree @macgrs that they don't have to be exclusive. I'm not saying we didn't evolve, but that God chose/planned/created that evolution. It wasn't haphazard as @MamaFantastic said
~ Leah, Rachel and Gabriel were born on May 27, 2013 (23 weeks) ~
I believe God created me, not millions of years of haphazard evolutionary chance.
I totally support your right to believe in whatever you want but I also really hope you understand that evolution is nothing to do with haphazardness or chance. That's a total misconception.
The "real women have curves" thing is irritating because some of us can't help the fact that we have stick legs and a flat ass. I get so fed up with people telling me I need meat on my bones. Even if I were to gain weight, it would stick to my midsection and love handles.. Not my legs or ass.
Contrary to what people believe about atheists, I don't look down on anyone who believes in a god. I do look down on people who demand respect for their beliefs and consider my lack of beliefs a war on their religion.
I'd much rather be told I need to eat a cheeseburger to get meat on my bones than have a double chin and batwings.
I agree. Same with me but it still gets annoying when all you see is "men are not dogs, they want meat not bones" or whatever other shit is constantly being spat out.

The big issue with increased yield is that the lands are being ravaged. They're not getting the recovery they need, requiring the use of MORE chemicals. Using GMOs here to grow food only to be shipped out to other countries and continents is a waste of resources and increases the carbon footprint beyond what is offset by growing the crops in the first place.
Also, many farmers ARE forced to use these seeds. If you are a subsidized farmer, you're using Monsanto's monstrous creations or your out of business (What little business you may have, that is, considering how fucked up Big Ag is here).
Furthermore, seeds pollinate through the wind -- especially corn, that's the only way pollination occurs -- and when a GMO crop pollinates a non GMO crop, we have a new species of crop, putting the natural crop to extinction. It's scary to think that the very basic crops we once had, that are virgin and natural to this earth, are gone because of the scientific tinkering we've done.
I'd much rather be told I need to eat a cheeseburger to get meat on my bones than have a double chin and batwings.
Before babies I was a super skinny size 0. I had people ask me all the time if I had an eating disorder or if I was anorexic, push extra food at me because "you look like you need it" and that shiz got old realllly fast. I wish it was considered as socially unacceptable to make comments about someone's body if you think they're too thin as it is if you think they're too fat. Making comments about someone's size should just be off limits all around.
It drives me crazy when people just think they can drag their kids around with no attention paid to their schedule or what would be enjoyable for them... My sister does this and will frequently keep my niece and nephew out extremely late and just drag them wherever she wants to go. I'm not saying we never push through nap or the kids go to bed a bit late because of a special occasion but overall we put the kids first
Re: the previous conversations: I don't believe in God (any god), nor have I ever, but when thinking about it in the abstract I always liked the idea that he created a realm in which things like evolution could take place somewhat autonomously, being a creator but not a puppeteer. I could go on, and on, and ON about it, but that's just my long-windedness speaking.
March 2017 September Siggy Challenge: Favorite Fall Things
My UO: I think it's really weird and silly that "gluten free" is in style even for people who don't have a sensitivity to gluten. That's like avoiding peanuts even if you don't have a peanut allergy. What?

I really don't like to see a baby in just a diaper only. If you don't have a change of clothes, it's too hot etc. that's understandable. But just to do it..ehh.. X_X

Totally agree. I think most people who go GF who don't have celiac or a sensitivity assume things that are GF are "healthier" or that cutting gluten will help them lose weight. Often, the opposite is true -- GF products are full of bizarre ingredients and are often higher in fat / calories.
Re: UO Thursday
ETA: That's more of a FFFC, apologies.

And it would be curious to see stats on countries.
If yes, I'll bite...how does pretending to shoot someone make a child more "manly?"
