Ugh, I thought a boys name was gonna be the hard one.
Does anyone have any ideas on an Italian/ancient Rome or Greek girls name that doesn't end in an "a" or "o". Middle name will most likely be Serena and last name is 3 syllables starts with an F ends in O (think Ferrari). I thought we were set on Giada but it just doesn't flow well with our last name. Thanks again for all your help ladies.
Hmm. The no -a ending is pretty limiting. Could you give any other style clues? Are you looking for something common-ish (like Helen), unusual (like Damaris), or really flashy (like Xanthippe)?
More unusual not flashy. Something with a decent nickname or no nickname. All the names I had on my list from before DS was born all end in A.
Liliana
Sephira
Alesia
Evelyn (DH isn't really on board with this)
I like Lilian but again DH isn't completely on board cuz he wants something more Italian,
I was hoping you'd see this, heard you were into Italian/Greek names. Great list but I dont love any of em. I like Ariadne but can't do aria as a nn (hotel in Vegas, and we live fairly close to the city).
The Greek names seem to fit the bill better than the Italian names (so many end in -a).
If you want the name to read as Italian, I might reconsider the flow of a name that ends in -a (I know this problem well — my DD has a FN and MN that both end in -a, one -ia, one -ina).
Italian names (or names popular in Italy) that don't end in -a:
Alice
Beatrice
Dolce
Matilde
Noemi
Agnese
Adelle
Irene
Clarice
Clio
Of these, the only one that reads really "Italian" to me is Noemi, unless you're going to use the Italian pronunciations of Beatrice or Alice. You've got plenty of lovely options with the Greek names. But if it's important to your partner that the name sounds Italian, I'd revisit the flow issue.
ugh, again I emphasize the frustration. Maybe I just like the idea of these names and can't see actually using them. It's fun listing names you like but when given the pressure of naming a human being that they'll be stuck with their entire life is stressful. I took a break for a while with name finding but it didn't really help, I feel I'm back where I started.
I guess maybe I should start over. I definitely don't want anything cutesie or popular. Good nickname or none and pass dh's tease test (lol). I do like something that ends in -ane or -lyn. And maybe match my sons name Roman Zephyr but not necessary. tia
Thank you for all the suggestions ladies. It's hard this time around to just sit down and discuss names with dh with a toddler running around. Adding a few more to the list

I love Giada.
From the above suggestions, I really like Iris and Beatrice.
