Help! Baby is still nameless!

Alright mommas, my husband and I are having the hardest time picking a name for our little guy coming in 5 short weeks. One of our problems is that our last name (Rench) doesn't sound great with a lot of first names, plus, since our last name sounds like a tool (wrench), we have to be careful that the first name doesn't sound like a type of wrench (Alan Rench, Jack Rench). We have both loved the name Liam for a few years now but are hesitant to use it now that it has been the most popular name for 3 years in a row. We especially like it though because DH's dad and grandpa are Williams, and Liam is often a nickname for William. We would also like to include my dad's name, John, at some point. The other names are just cute in our opinion. (I know, I know, this is ultimately my and DH's decision, but we are keeping the name secret from our family and I could really use an outsider's feedback! Pregnancy has made me so indecisive). I'm open to any other boy name suggestions also. Thanks in advance! (Basically these names are combinations of John, Liam, Harrison, and Elias).

Okay. I voted for Gideon because I love that name. Liam is too popular. Rowan I'm not a fan of... Harrison I like, but too many r sounds with the last name. Jude is nice, it's just not my absolute favorite. And I like Arlo.

And I still like William John, like I said on the other poll.

So out of all your choices, here's my choices in order.

    1. Gideon John
    2. William John
    3. Arlo Elias
    4. Jude Elias

:) I give you props for your choices.

Thanks ladies!  I should have mentioned, for whatever reason, DH is not wanting to do William as a first name.  It's already pretty confusing at his house with all of the Billys/Bills.

Fair enough. Back to Gideon land I go!

Also people are voting Harrison and I keep saying Harrison Rench over in my head and then Harry Rench because even if you don't nn him that it could happen. And I am now really anti-Harrison in your case.

True.  Plus, Harry Rench might make one think of a hairy wrench, which isn't cute.  The woes of having a noun as a last name!

I voted for Harrison John, but I didn't think of nick names! I change my vote to Liam John. I also like Elias a lot for a first name, Elias John would be a nice option too!

You could still call him Liam if his name is William :)

You pretty much know the 2 names that mean the most to you. Think long, think wrong.
    Liam John

I voted Liam John but was also thinking William John or John William. A friend of mine just named her baby William but they call him Liam. He definitely doesn't have to go by bill/billy.

William is a family name for us too. We decided 17 years ago that we would use it and call our son Liam - then we had five girls ;) MH and his Dad are Bills so I know exactly where you are coming from. Despite popularity, we are keeping it as we've always wanted it. One thing to consider: a very smart poster a few months back suggested looking at the actual number of babies given a name, not just popularity. You can also look by state. What we found was William in the top ten when hubs was born with almost 2,000 of them. Last year, though still in the top ten, I think it was in the 300s. Just something to consider.

I voted for Harrison, but I was thinking Harris for a nickname (I knew one growing up), instead of Harry. Harris Rench is not as bad as Harry Rench!

@pshaortao‌ I love the name Harrison (we're using it as a mn) but Harris Rench makes me think of Harris Ranch -- a big beef production company in California.
